Could someone explain to me what Leliumoj means? Ι think I meet this word very often in various baltic songs.

,,Leliumoj", ,,Leliumai", ,,Aleliumai", ,,Aladumai ladum" ,,Lėliu Kalėda", ,,Lėliu, lėliu", - these are archaic refrains, found in southeastern Lithuania region ,,Dzūkija" calendar, archaic Advent period songs. There are one explanation of what ,,Leliumoj/Leliumai" means - it is simply name of ,,Advent" time.
Other hypothetic variant- by ethnologist Pranė Dundulienė, in her work ,,Pagonybė Lietuvoje" 1989 (Paganism in Lithuania 1989), author claims, that such refrains with roots ,,lel" ,,ladum" like refrains ,,ladum" ,,aladumai", ,,lado" ,,leliumai" in these songs, have been worshipping refrains of goddesses Lada and Lela, because Lada have been goddess of love, and people sang songs with ,,leliumai" refrain in time, related before Advent, and during that time young people prepared for searching of partner, creating family or matchmaking, to say shortly - it is been a time for creating love, so that is why this author relates those refrains with goddesses Lada and Lela who are responsible on spheres of love, family. But this theory are more hypothetic one.
