Sequencer / Berlin School live set with Stepic 1.5

- In this live session I demonstrate the new features of version 1.5 of "Stepic". The free update introduces transposing through incoming midi notes, a new chord mode and an arpeggiator. It is also possible to select the pattern with a midi note. I am going to release a "talking video" in which I explain the new features in detail soon.
Synths in this video are (in order of appearance): Ob-6, Virus TI, Prophet 10. Drums are from Repro-5.

die neue Arpeggiator Funktion in der Version 1.5 ist schon in Verbindung mit dem Stepsequenzer vom Devicemeister super gelöst worden. Ich habe auch gerade mit Stepic 3 Stunden kreativ experimentiert und bin von der Version 1.5 total begeistert. 😉👌

There is such a 'gentleness' and 'thoughtfulness' to some of your music, it can feel almost 'healing' - but with an empathy and resonance of melancholy that prevents it from slipping in to a kind of sentimental saccharine pablum. I hope this makes sense to you - I wish I could express it in your own language...

That's lovely, Martin! I've been trying to decide between Stepic, Catalyst, and Stochas for my own production.
Stochas is great and it's free! Having the four layers outputting on separate MIDI channels is handy and if they ever get around to having some modulation lanes (it does do velocity) and randomised directions then it would be perfect.

lovely! really like how you use the microfreak as drum machine :) it all sounds great!
I am very sorry to disappoint you but the drums are from U-He Repro-5. I used the Microfreak only to switch the patterns in Stepic via Midi.
@@MartinStuertzer Ah ok, i was sorta wondering since the "hold" button wasn't lit up on the microfreak, but that makes sense as it was a stepic demo :)

Is Stepic sequencing the hardware?
@Martin, can’t get over the sound when you start the Matriarch just over the 2 minute mark. That typical incredible moog sound. Do you think it’s possible to do the same thing on the Berringer Poly D. It’s like 1/3 the price just to do this one part? I have plenty of synths from the 70’s all the way to the current synths and soft synths but sold my mini moog eons ago and don’t have anything close to it. Want to purchase the Poly D just wanted your thoughts if it could do this Matriarch part after the 2 minute mark until the end.
I have good news! The Matriarch was just used as a midi keyboard and the actual sound came from the Sequential Prophet 10 module. This is also very pricy but I would like to give you two affordable alternatives: 1: U-He Repro-5. This software clone is so close to the hardware that I can't tell a difference when I use it. 2: Behringer poly-800. I don't have one but from what I listened to in demos and review I am sure that it can replicate this type of sound.
Wow I thought I heard that sequential prophet 5 sound. You are absolutely an amazing producer and writer. I have a Dave smith’s rev 2 I wonder if I can get the same sound that way to? I’ll listen to the poly 800. But I actually have an old original korg 600 or 800 MKII.
