Berlin School Sequencer Time!

- Part two of today's playtime, this time I left the light on so it's easier to see what I am up to. Hope you enjoy it, more sessions are planned. Take a look at my first session (Berlin School (Nursery)). Once again this one was all played live in one take. Listen closely and hear the MAQ 16/3 try to get the better of the Waldorf Pulse by adding a little bit of improvisation of its own!

These Berlin school style sequences are so hypnotizing.
That’s what makes that kind of electronic music so great.
I am a big fan of Berlin School-style sequencing. Please take a look at some of my more recent videos. Thank you for watching
Really good piece of music❤
Great music! As a berlin school artist I find it very nice!
Thank you, after all this time I still enjoy playing this kind of stuff

Keyboard melody at 3:43 is underappreciated. Beautiful.

Excellent work! You captured the true spirit of those times.

Some really rumbly deep bass synth in there!
Awesome!
Great live take!
Nice work! Definitely reminiscent of classic TD
Wonderful, just marvelous entertainment! This is perhaps some of the best Tangerine Dream-like sequences that I've heard in a long time. Very melodious and sublime! Cheers!
Thank you! This one still seems to be going strong after all these years. Please take a look at my other uploads; there may be some more things that you will like.
So Berlin, I love it

Thanks for subscribing! The An1x in this session was also controlling a Yamaha TX7 and a Roland JV1080. Please take a look at my other uploads, hope you enjoy them. Mike

It's good to know you. I'll listen more of your stuff. Very pleased of what I Heard! ......Many likes
Thank you for watching, I appreciate your comments. Tangerine Dream circa 1977 was a favourite era for me. Please take a look at my other CZcams uploads. Mike
@@LinkFMMik Yes. I promised. I'll listen to all your good compositions. I just want the right time to do so. See you man.
Managing to sound like early Schulze and 70's era Tangerine Dream... beautiful and inspirational
Thank you Richard, really nice comment, glad you like it.
Ah, very much like the early sound of Tangerine Dream that I love. I want more.
There's A LOT of it, if you don't know. Check out the record labels Manikin and SynGate.
Klaus Schulze made some nice stuff.
I guess im randomly asking but does someone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account?
I was stupid forgot the account password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me.
@Joe Walter Instablaster :)
@Gary Guillermo I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process atm.
Seems to take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.

Bravo!!!
So, this is fucking great. Well done!
Man ej.. Das trifft genau ins synthi Herz
Well ! Berlin School jam much better than average, congratulations. Like !
Thank you very much. Mike
This is really good. Thanks for recording and posting.
Trying to do some synthspotting here. Please correct anything that's wrong.
Main bassline is Slim Phatty and the Pulse
Your lead and intro is the An1X
Sound effects from (I think) a Microbrute
Korg Prophecy on top?.
Not sure what's under the AN1X. Looks like maybe a Voyager?
MKS-80 Super Jupiter rack. Not sure if that was used in this at all.
Well spotted Pete! The Prophecy was controlling a Roland M-VS1 module (for Mellotron choir and flute sounds). The An1X was also driving a Yamaha TX7 and the Roland JV1080 underneath the Microbrute. Just below the An1X is a Roland Juno 6 whose arpeggiator is being clocked by the MAQ16/3. Glad you like it, I hope to do more soon.
Thank you and congratulations for your piece, much, much above the average contemporary Berlin School pieces found on tube, very repetitive and formulaic, with little imagination and creativity. You manage to add layers of very interesting dissonant sequences. Pity the piece is not in stereo…
MIke, fantastic piece of music here. Very nice I spoke wih you at the Awakanings-EM
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it. Please take a look at my other pieces too. We enjoyed your set at Awakenings, and have been playing your CDs almost every day since. Mike
I am very pleased.
Very ethereal and old skool thanks! What is the keyboard you are playing up on the left with that choir sound?
Hi Shaun, in this video I used a Korg Prophecy simply as a MIDI controller to drive a Roland M-VS1 which has the Mellotron choir sound (at preset no. 57). Glad you liked it, thanks for watching. Mike
Bravo!
Thank you!
Wie TD in alten Tagen - Klasse!!!
Cool !!
Very reminiscent of the late great Klaus Schulze. Great jam
Thank you, that’s a great compliment. RIP Klaus.
sei forte!!! top!!!
Close to the end the flute like sounds sound almost like a mellotron.
It’s actually a sampled Mellotron, one of the presets built into the old Roland M-VS1. The inclusion of the Mellotron samples convinced me to buy it back in the late 90’s. I love that flute sound.
Oh heck yeah your a real jammer. .awrsome setup youve got going on.jam on..
Thank you, that was a few years ago but I’m still jamming!
excelente amigo un saludo desde chile yo también ago este tipo de música y mi referente es el gran maestro KLAUS SCHULZE
schööön! phaedra TD lässt grüßen?
Bitte mehr...!
Ganz Klasse Musik. Sehr harmonisch.
awesome
Thank you!
TOP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent sequencing and sounds and all totally unhurried.
Can I ask, what instrument are you playing from about 3:05 to 3:41 to get the TD choir-like harmony?
Thanks, glad you like it. From 3:05 to 3:41 I was playing a Roland M-VS1 'vintage synth' module (preset no. 57, one of its Mellotron choirs) and using the Korg Prophecy simply as a MIDI controller. The 'Mellotron flutes' towards the end also came from the M-VS1. Mike
Playing again! Thx once again for the inspiration.
Nice work & setup!
- is the Slim Phatty sequenced by the MAQ 16/3?
- What kind of mixer are you using, the one standin up in front?
Thanx keep the vibes flowing ;-)
Hi Dennis, yes the Slim Phatty is being sequenced by the MAQ 16/3 along with the Waldorf Pulse. The mixer is the Behringer 24/2 standing up. The sequences and the Juno 6's arpeggiator are all being fed through the Boss DE200 delay via the mixer. Thanks for watching, please take a look at my other uploads. Mike
thanx! ;-)
+1 for the AN1X ;)
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
🎧👍
2023 and I’m finding this. It’s genuinely beautiful.
Do you have a list of what hardware you’re using? It looks and sounds polysamplers but now I see the third keyboard.
Doesn’t matter how you’re doing it, it sounds good.
Edit: the digital shit is my speaker.
Still wanna know the gear.
Apologies for the late reply but I recorded this 9 years ago in my old place and needed to research a bit to see what I was using back then, so here goes: sequences - Waldorf Pulse and Moog Slim Phatty controlled by Doepfer MAQ16/3 sequencer. Arpeggiator - Roland Juno 6, Mellotron sounds from Roland M-VS1 Vintage synth controlled by Korg Prophecy, Yamaha An1x controlling Yamaha TX7 and Roland JV1080 for everything else. All put through Boss DE200 and Alesis Midiverb IV effects.
SUPERBE 🎼🎵🎶🎵🎼
Thank you so much. Please take a look at my other videos.
Toll bei 5:35 min der 2. Step Sequenzereinsatz vor zurück
Brilliant, that’s what electronic music it is all about, not techno or trance, real electronic music start from Germany and France, like tangerine dream and JmJ, Kraft werk. Nice.
Thank you. Please have a look at some of my other uploads, there may be something else that you like.
LinkFMMik
I did check your other videos, all of them are very good indeed, we have the same test in music, keep up the good work.
Om 😮sublime🪐🎹🪐🌟
Thank you, I can't believe that I did this back in my old studio nine years ago. There is a lot more now on my CZcams channel; please subscribe if you haven't already.
Which keyboard were you using for the lead lines?
I used a mix of Yamaha An1X controlling a Yamaha TX7 for some, and towards the end the 'Mellotron' flutes were from the Roland JV1080's Vintage Synth card controlled by a Korg Prophecy just as a controller keyboard.
Nice.
Did I say nice? Fantastic would've been more appropriate.
Thanks, glad you like it. Mike
Класс!!!
Ron Boots !
Thanks! I was lucky to see Ron and his band Morpheusz at the e-scape festival in Halesworth, England, earlier this year. Please have a look at my other videos. Mike
;-)
I subbed earlier today and looking forward to hearing more. Hope you can check out some work of mine on SoundCloud that I composed on the Caustic app (I wish I could afford a set-up like yours; all I have is a Kawai K1 which I purchased nearly thirty years ago).
I honestly do not know how people play keyboards at that angle
Great Sounds and Great Playing
Thank you John
this is his composition or this is cover?
Hi, this is my own improvised composition, influenced to some extent by mid-1970's Tangerine Dream. Hope you like it. Mike
Do not quite understand. Have you been influenced by Tangerin or are you on them?
Music - in the best traditions of the direction of the Berlin School of Electronic Music. But in my opinion there is not enough progressive like in the first two albums of Ash ra. Continue and please me if you can implement the proposed. Im from Ukraine.
Great music...but MONO!!! Arghh! Please use the L-R slidepans.
