- Ah, Robo car wash. This was one of my favorite car washes that I filmed during my early days of making these videos. While spending time with family in my hometown of Jefferson City, MO, I decided to stop by and film their fairly rare Southern Pride Turbo car wash system with my new camera setup. Hope you enjoy this more detailed look at one of my old favorites! The system is in fantastic shape for its age, and the rest of the facility is maintained beautifully as well. I was also shocked at the amount of work put into the pre-wash of the truck in front of me.

Hi,
I just want to say that my son, Peter, who is 16 years old and is on the autism spectrum absolutely loves your elevator and car wash review videos! Thank you for making your videos so fun and informative! We live in Massachusetts and most of the car washes that we go to here are old, rusty, and poorly maintained. They all seem to be dark and dingy on the inside of the tunnel, but they do a decent job. My son Peter narrates every action the machines perform, just like you do while we are going through!
Thanks again for creating fun, informative, and CLEAN (no pun intended) entertainment!
This made my day :)
There’s a car wash in my hometown Fall River Massachusetts called cliffs car wash. They just got rid of the Southern Pride tail gunner. It was replaced with a hydro spray rainmaker classic. I’ll miss the Southern Pride.
There’s a car wash in my old hometown Fall River MA called Cliffs car wash. It had a Southern Pride tail gunner turbo for years. It was just recently replaced with a hydro spray rainmaker classic. It does the same thing as the Southern Pride however it does a double pass in front of the car a few times. I’ll miss the Southern Pride. It was very quick like this one.
As another Car Wash enthusiast that lives in Massachusetts, I can say that is very true. Most of the vintage tunnels I’ve been through are dark, dirty and antique.
@@TheElevatorChannel what he sprayed on your car is bug remover spray to get rid of bugs
This is an amazing system
Looks like the Mighty trax from Windtrax in Kansas City. I purchased one in 1989 from them and ran it for 19 years. Solid old wash!
That's cool, I have never seen this system before.
this so awsome i used to watch these vids a long time ago
That treadle was huge at 5:44
Seriously. He watches your videos for hours! He loves them! You seem to travel a lot. Do you ever make it up to New England?
you should go to the neboorhood carwash. and go to the soft cloth car wash
You mentioned that you thought they worked on a timer. Actually there's usually a couple of "limit" switches on the fixed guide rail that the unit trips at certain points in its travel, usually one at its "home" position, and another at the point where the modes change. Not a complicated control system on these at all, with many of them being simple relay logic and not solid state (although many of the relay logic ones are being replaced by solid state controllers, it doesn't change the characteristics of the system at all).
I once went through a Southern Pride like that in Olathe, Kansas (this would have been around 1990-91) and during the high pressure rinse it blew one of the three arms off the vertical portion that damaged my car. The newer unit you went through has that triangle plate on the hub of the vertical section, which has some clamps to keep the arms from separating from the hub.
This is very close to the real Robo car wash I remember from my youth in the late 70's/early eighties which was basically a big metal box with a spray arm that ran along a track that circled you're car.
It's a Ryko soft gloss max in Florda
This location got a new system! An Oasis XP
The roof reminds me of the roof of the Econolodge in Roanoke,VA!
so me and my dad occasionally take my grandparents car out for a drive, it being ~1980/90 something saab convertible.
we decided to put it through the auto car wash, was essentially this but slightly worn down looking...
NOTE: because of the system the of saab`s of that age used for the convertible top folding points It may have not only washed the exterior...
(apparently the seal the convertible top has along the edge was NOT designed for medium to high pressure water to run _up_ the windows and body)
Update It's an oasis xp now
This Machine is now for sale
All of the Robo Car Washes got replaced with Oasis Systems. I think they're either XP or Eclipse. You should check them out when you get the chance!
How I know is I went on Google Maps on street view, and the systems got replaced; both locations.
Christina Goode's Car Wash Vlogs only the one on Missouri blvd got replaced. This one is still here.
@@thecarwashelevatorfanatic7433 Oh, okay. Thank you.
This is now gone forever! It got replaced with an Oasis XP.
still a rare system
2:20 That date stamp in the corner, is that 11th of May? Or 5th of November? If its the 11th of May, thats my birthday!
I guess you didn't buy the everything this time?
This one got replaced with a oasis typhoon also
Look closer it's actually the oasis xp
They need to add dryers
I think the hand prep he gave you is a bug remover. And I was talking about what he gave you; not the pickup.
These systems are OK for filming purposes. But for the actualy wash i'd prefer a more modern car wash. These things don't really do any measuring as a lazerwash would do. Theres a more modern form of this car wash made by the compony hydroSpray and they actually still manufacture to this day. It's almost the same as this system but it's on a ganty instead of a rail.
True
Hand wash at a car wash means an attendant washes your car as a head start.
You have the cleanest car in mo lol.
What’s the name of the song playing in the beginning?
How come you not uploading that much?
Interesting fact: The early version of these systems had the tracks in the ground.
(Update) this has been replaced by an oasis xp
Can you visit los angels
No dryers
No dryers?
Car fragrance? Oh my. I wonder what that was.
scott likes the self wash
kristen billys lisas squash
mike dougs pit of mosh
Come to my car wash in my town I have a southern prime most common
Plz come to my Town
What clearence do you think the truck and trailerwash has looked more for rvs
crapper1 I'm guessing it's aimed at large pickup trucks with trailers. Pretty common setup for farmers and others in rural areas. I doubt an actual truck would fit in there.
The Elevator Channel, Do you mean like a fleet couldn't fit or like the other kind of truck?
I'm a hardcore handwasher. I never go into the automatic car wash. But this one seems okay to me since there are not brushes which could potentially cause swirls on your paint and it is fairly cheap.
I could see myself using one of those during winter in between my handwashes. Just the cheapest program to get all the salt off.
Especially interesting is the underbody wash you can get there for cheap.
Where I live, every car wash has brushes and the underbody wash is hidden behind a paywall in the premium program.
Der Spliff your facts are totally wrong you idiot, soft touch washes DO NOT SCRATCH cars. They use closed cell foam which doesn’t hold dirt or any other harmful particles. It’s also rinsed with every rotation. Hand washing can damage cars. Get your god damn facts right.
Isnt the robot carwash closed (ABANDONED) now at days like isnt this place in a video on carwashnews and abandoned
Hey who can turn down a free pre wash
E
That stuff he put on the front of you're car is bug off.
