Great video! One of the cleanest installations I have seen. And you did a great job explaining what the mods are for without going off into a bunch of unnecessary faff.
This is awesome.. I was seeing these Gaggiuino mods all over CZcams with the tiny screen on top thinking.. man there is so much space right there in front! Why hasn't someone gone with a bigger screen and moved it front and center?!.. and boom! Literally the next day, here you are!
Oh boy, someone finally went the direction I wanted to go with a bigger screen and face-mount. And no huge hole cut in the face, either. This is the best looking Gaggiuino I've seen. I really appreciate the logic and the craftsmanship behind this. Looks as good as factory, and gives a lot of hope. Expect an order soon on matter-replicator 😀 Also, I might be able to help with making the other views fit that screen. I'm getting ahead of myself, but I'll let you know if I get anywhere with it.
I've come back to this video so many times to admire this Magnum Opus of the Mod. I can no longer come back knowing i will never be able to pull this of on my own.
That looks gorgeous! Bummer that the project can’t be updated with a 3.5” option. It looks super clean and professional-and using magnets to attach it is a good idea. Curious to see how it looks with the 2.4” and 2.8” mounted on the front.
Wow! Gotta say thats the best looking version of this I've seen. Screen size is fantastic, mounting location and method is ingenius as it doesnt taint the original machine and looks like it came like that from the factory. Absolutely brilliant! I wish I knew electronics and could do this! I'm not familiar with the code provided for this, but I'm wondering if it is possible to do a find and replace for that screen resolution setting? Usually the best practice with config settings like that is to declare the value as a constant global variable or have a config file to set the value in. Then reference that constant everywhere throughout the code instead of writing the value everywhere. That way it can be updated in one place by anyone who needs to
Great Vid. Very inspirational I have been tossing up between purchasing either a GCP or Silva. I think I’m going to get the Silvia & after watching this I am going to add the GAGGIUINO. Thank you for sharing your experience and build 👍
i think i remember there being a setting with arduino that let u scale the gui with only one parameter in the theme.txt file, u have to add a line that says ,"gui.scalePercent = 150" or whatever number u want and i believe that works, but i don't have a display to test with (yet). hope u find an easier way to deal with having a higher resolution display
Yes. Please send me the HMI file (not just the TFT). I can't put my contact here without CZcams deleting the comment. Join the Gaggiuino Builders group.
Me too please. Much prefer the look of the front mounted 3.5 inch display and hope to embark on such a project soon. Did you post to the Gaggiuino group yet? I'm on there as mister-t-nelson
That looks beautiful! Very nice… I would do it, but I don’t want to constantly relate to people on discord, Facebook, etc. I’ll probably install the Shades PID and pressure gauge with topbox mount.
Very cool, I can just image the push back you got over the 3.5 screen you boat rocker you! lol. if you have an extra PCB, I would be interested, I was on one of the buys but didn't get my order in on time do to notification issue. Great job!
would love to see the steam ability too if you can! My PCB is on its way too, just receiving the rest of the parts now. Going for the 2.4in though as I prefer the discrete look and screen on top, but going for a larger screen front mounted is a nice idea! maybe I'll do this later if I get tired of small screen...
That looks amazing. Unfortunately I’m not able to access your Facebook group, because your bot auto rejected my request to join due to the newness of my account.
Im moderately familiar with electronics, how difficult would it be to take this PCB and code and make it work for a custom espresso machine Im making? Im planning to install a pump from a Ranchilio. I have a 1,200W 110V heating element on a custom boiler that doesnt do steam (may add another steam boiler later on). Oh, I also have an independent PID controller for the temp.
I really want to do this mod but I'm really afraid I might mess something up on my new evo 😣😣 I'm also not experienced in soldering so that is a challenge :(
You can just type in any extraction parameters that you want and it will do it. The stock machine has no ability to regulate, flow, temperature, pre-infusion, or pressure. They are on complete opposite ends of the capability spectrum.
@@jamesmac6102if you want to improve Gaggia but not feeling the huge leap to gagguino necessary. Take a look at shades of coffee. In less than a day of work you can install PID, flow control and manual pressude profiling (flow control + pressuer gauge)

looks absolutely awesome. the fact that you didnt have to cut into the case by using a magnet is really smart.

Awesome!! Thanks for the effort and great models; printed this for mine! Glad I wasn't the only one wishing the screen was bigger!

love the old Jell-O recycled plastic cup for grinds, while having the top mod on the machine pimped with 3.5in display :D

Nice build. I spent hours changing the file to suit the 3.5 screen. Happy to send it to you if you like ?

Amazing! Great job...BTW looks like a dosing funnel is next for ya!!! ;)
I have one coming today. Part of my problem was the large tripod right in front of the machine so I had to reach sideways.

I didn’t try this machine before the mod so I am not sure how much the steam changed, but it is a lot more powerful than my Breville Infuser.
I have gaggiuino lego stm32 for 3 months, steam really great. now Im upgrading to pcbv3 and after that will check new firmware with multiple profiles
I want to try this

Is the build the same as the evo
how do I transfer the data from the machine to a laptop for analytics
Was wondering the same thing. Does it record the brew data for analytics?
Does the screen get hot in that location?
It shouldn't. The screen part is a very low voltage one and it's enclosed on a 3d printed case.
@@Sorcerer86pt I think they meant if the screen gets heated up by the group head, since it's right in front of it.
Imagine being so skillful to build Gagguino and then neglect the coffee puck prep. Nonetheless, good job on the build.
"This is a 21 gram dose"
It's probably 19 grams by the time you're done with it
This has been superseded by Kafmasino.
With this extraction is better to stay with the original Gaggia setup...
