    That father and son picture from 1910 (3.41). A moment of pure joy from over a century ago.

      Absolutely love that photo too. Real emotions. You can see the simple love and connection between a father and son, regardless of the generation. They didn't' have the luxuries we have today, but in this moment in time they seem pretty darn happy.

    Love the caption on men posed on skyscraper under construction. "Another example of NOPE." 😅 My sentiments exactly! These are so interesting. Such good photos but never seen before. Thanks!

      @@AmazingHistoricalPhotos Yes, the captions are helpful, but do they have to be so big?

    • @AmazingHistoricalPhotos
      @AmazingHistoricalPhotos  Před rokem

      @@oldbones3092 Surprisingly I have about the equal amount of comments suggesting they are too small as to too big. It's impossible to please everyone so I just went with the default setting in the program I use.

    How sad to see all those wonderful buildings torn down and probably replaced by chrome and glass boxes there were not half as well built.

    Those railway stations were magnificent buildings. why demolish them?

    • @AmazingHistoricalPhotos
      @AmazingHistoricalPhotos  Před rokem +4

      Progress ? ... I guess ... But, I agree 100% ... they were works of art. Every step forward we take in comfort, we seem to take two steps back in beauty.

    I loved these. The Irish family eating potatoes and milk made me sad, no shoes on the kiddies' feet 😢

      My father told me years ago that growing up in the country in Canada and I've read many other accounts from the US that shoes were reserved for certain occasions. The less well off children had shoes but wore them only for school ( my dad said they would walk barefoot to school and only put the shoes on when they got there) or church or perhaps a social gathering. This way they were in good shape to be passed on when they were outgrown. Not sure what they did in winter lol. So I'm not sure if the fact the children are not wearing shoes is all the unusual

    stunning and amazing. but im wondering why a few railway stations got demolished, they looked like they were built to last hundreds of years, that Pensylvania one was massive

    • @AmazingHistoricalPhotos
      @AmazingHistoricalPhotos  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Progress, I guess ! ... But, I totally agree with you. They were not only built well but were like pieces of art. The architecture was incredible. Such a shame to tear them down.

    If I am reincarnated I hope I go backwards in time. That way I will die in 1959, the year I was born. the future looks too boring.

      Photographers could have been following the soldiers as they returned.
