He sad that the bass player of his band John Entwistle and John Paul Jones two best place players in rock and roll. Well they are certainly awesome since the last 30 or 40 years there has been some really good ones come about. And to me the bass guitar is a huge huge part of rock and roll.

Fun fact about this show (april, 24 1969 at the Fillmore West): that night Jonesy's bass amplifier had some issues and few minutes before this song, in the middle of "As long as i have you" it became unmanageable, so he had to stop and fix it, so during fixing, Page and Bonham started jamming while Plant sang on Diddley/Dixon's "You can't judge a book by the cover" adding fun lyrics about the equipment problem

The song is one of my 2 favorite songs by Zep. The other is "For Your Life". Both are highly emotional and bluesy. For people who don't know, it was inspired by Robert Johnson's "Travelling Riverside Blues" which he wrote and performed in the 30s. It also inspired Howlin' Wolf's and Jimi Hendrix's "Killing Floor". They are basically the same song from the particular angle of each artist.

This is the sound that took over from the 60s Psychedelic Bands
When unknown English band Led Zeppelin first toured America, they played at rock promoter Bill Graham's legendary Fillmore East, N.Y.C. After six previous weeks of world-of-mouth rave reviews, Zeppelin wound up opening for the Heavy Rock band headliners, Iron Butterfly, who it could be argued, where the Zeppelin of the day. When Led Zeppelin played their set, they blew The Iron Butterfly off the stage. Basically Zeppelin was so powerful, they out "heavied" Butterfly. @@RicardoMartinez-zj7bv Killing Floor. Several other artists covered it, (Howlin' Wolf, Hendrix & Clapton famously, right?), but Zeppelin changed the name & pretended it was theirs. Outside that, their entire first two albums & most of their third were covers of blues, folk, & country. Great, but passing it off as your own is another thing.

As far as my extensive list of favorite bassists goes, it's Jaco, John Paul Jones, and Jerry Scheff occupying those top three slots...with AUTHORITY. I try to emulate them as much as possible when I play.
