- This lovely Jean Chapel ballad is from Marty's 1977 album 'Don't Let Me Touch You.' Jerry Wallace had the original hit in 1972 which rose to the 48 spot on the Billboard Hot 100. I noticed on playing back the clip that Marty has got his eyes closed in nearly every photo. He did jokingly refer to this habit on his 'Best Of Marty Robbins TV Show' when he said viewers had been writing in to ask him to open his eyes when he was singing. Marty's reply on camera was 'I can't friends, it hurts!'

Such a beautiful song. And his voice is quite unbelievable.
One of my favorites
how today's so called modern country singers must grit their teeth to know the huge following that true country singers like Marty have.

Your Mom wrote a beautiful song! My favourite version is Jerry Wallace but all versions that I’ve heard are done well!
Thanks Lana!
I would walk out on my friends to get to you
If I lose them all for your love I would do that too
Friends mean well when they tell me what to do
But they don't know how far I'd go just to get to you
Burnin' bridges behind me to get to you
Breakin' all ties that bind me to get to you
I hold your love far above what I go through
I would give all I own for a steppin' stone
Just to get to you
If it's the last thing that I do I'll get to you
Because I know just how much you want me to
You're the only thing that can bring my world in view
Every breath I take, every move I make
Is to get to you
Burnin' bridges behind me to get to you
Breakin' all ties that bind me to get to you
I hold your love far above what I go through
I would give all I own for a steppin' stone
Just to get to you
I hold your love far above what I go through
I would give all I own for a steppin' stone
Just to get to you
Hold you to I fight any one to get you too amen
Me to many enemy I fight you bu if. I want you too lovely song I bless you amen
