In 2001, Tanya performed for her own country during the Singapore National Day Parade 2001 with the theme song titled "Where I Belong" which was also a big hit composed by herself.
2001, I was a P1 back then, my first year in SG as a Korean. Time passes so quickly man... 18 years later now in 2019, back in Korea as a final year college student Even though my nationality is Korea, I would always call Singapore my TRUE HOME., where i belong, where i keep my heart and soul. My home where i spent my whole Pri,Sec, and JC years. Best memories ever. Thanks for the memories Tanya Chua!
I'll always remember learning this song during music lessons in school - that was fourteen years ago when I was in P1. My classmates and I were all so proud of Singapore then! I really looked forward to music lessons - because we got to sing this song :) Till now, this is still one of my favourite songs of all time and I know the lyrics by heart. Even though I'm not very patriotic nowadays, this song still stirs up amazing feelings of pride and reminiscence in me every time I listen to it. Only quite recently, I also started listening to Tanya's other songs, both Mandarin and English, and I've instantly become a huge fan. I wonder why I didn't discover her awesome music earlier! Tanya Chua is really a true gem of a songwriter and singer - an amazingly talented musician that all Singaporeans can and should be proud of :)
Yes, You are right,I have been hearing this song whenever I go, be it bus interchange, shopping malls, they wld play this song and it lifts my spirit during this year much scaled down NDP celebrations.
Reminds me of Primary 5 when it was so fun and carefree. Gameboys were our smart phones back then. We were all playing with Tamiya cars, pokemon silver/gold and watching kids central. And when Osama was the biggest news headline.
I always remember this song since I listened to it when I was in Primary school . I could also remember this song to know that Orchid Park Secondary School was officially opened on 21 April 2001. I also could know that SMRT bus is also founded in this year (2001)
This brings such a sense of nostalgia.. I was only 3 then but I remember them replaying this song throughout my kindergarten and pri school days... I left singapore halfway in pri school and moved overseas ever since... whenever I visit singapore now its such a different place. It's pretty sad actually. Their economic growth is amazing but it's sad that the idea of 'home' becomes misplaced in a place thats ever changing
i saw her at ndp 2001 cuz tht time p5, so went to the stadium. But i dun really like the design of the bag and all those goodies. The food we get is a hamburger others forget le. The most unique one is the light bulb (LOL). Anyone still rmb?
I was a student then and a teacher now...
😊
