      +Zach Henry Tesla's cost a lot. and batteries aren't any better for the environment than gas. The battery itself is fine, but the creation of it is no better than what comes out of gas cars as they drive down the road

    I am a proud owner of a 2011 RAM truck, i love the confort of the truck and the amazing torque of the hemi!!! Gentle but powerful, always ready and pulls crazy strong, not like my Astra h opc 2.0 turbo but for a natural aspirated engine is amazing. With a lpg system is also in europe really economic (our gasoline costs around 1.5 €/liter!!) And you can repair it at home with patient and good ability.
    God bless the Hemi and the USA for this incredible invention. Cheers from Italy

    The final day of the Hemi V8 will be a sad day for the motor world. My 2004 Ram 1500 has the 5.7 Hemi and not only has it consistently delivered excellent reliability (having 264,000 miles on it and still going strong) but the performance to this day is still fantastic. It has just enough life left in it to fool me into thinking I'm behind the wheel of a performance car, and the sound is to die for. No twin turbo V6 will ever be able to replicate the distinct sound of a mighty V8, which is the sad yet inevitable truth. The Hemi will always have a special place in my heart

    The reason why Mopar is popular among muscle car enthusiasts is simply because of the legendary Hemi engine. The engine is an icon. They can still make the engine, all they need to do is improve the emissions and fuel economy. Getting rid of the Hemi engine will make the Chrysler, Jeep, Ram, Dodge and especially SRT brand a joke.

      That seems a popular reply amongst the young; however, popular does not make it correct. California's ( and Obama's ) addiction to this ersatz idea of saving the planet through slightly lessened emissions is foolish. Be mindful, don't follow the crowd, do your own research. You will find modern pushrod engines extremely reliable, well-performing and thoroughly high-tech. Go see for yourself.

    • @brochachoiii6657
      @brochachoiii6657 Před 7 lety +18

      Steven Cash the EPA actually requires higher mpg. That's why you get a gas guzzles tax if your car doesent meet a certain mpg rating. Without restrictions on car companies, climate change would be that much more impactful. I say keep it up and maybe we can have a clean earth for once. The tragedy is it's going to be take a major crisis for people to realize it instead of starting now.

    The late model Hemi's just don't have the same excitement the original ones had back in the 60's to 1970. Those days it was extremely rare to see one and when you did it was only in a sporty muscle car. When one of those drove into the local drive in restaurant where the gearheads hung out in those days it got everyone's attention and everyone had to go take a look at it. Now days they are a dime a dozen and come in all kind of Dodges. Nothing to get to excited about. The legend of it went away with the original muscle car era.

    Actually, Ford continues to produce the 5.0 Coyote engine alongside their Ecoboost V-6's, I-4's, and I-3's, because, it's the main engine of choice for the Mustang, and F-150.

  • @derbyjr
    @derbyjr Před 7 lety +1

    Ford did not "replace" the Coyote V8 with its EcoBoost. They simply offer the EcoBoost as another option. The V8 is still by far and away Ford's most popular single engine offered in the F-150 trucks. If I know Ford, and if I know the fans, any amount of money will say that there will be a point where the F-150 is offered with an EcoBoost V8. It wouldn't be the craziest thing, I mean 2019 is supposed to see a hybrid F-150.

    Your gonna blame CAFE standards? I love the hemi. Its a great motor. But its also archaic. Two valves per cylinder? Push rods? No overhead cams? No 180 degree cranks. Now that Chrysler is owned by Maserati/Ferrari, some of their tech will and should trickle down. And Ford IS NOT gonna dump their V8's. Of you apply the dame turbo charging, direct injection, 4 valve per cylinder tech to a V8 you get UBER power. Spline the front wheels then youve got a monster. Their truly is no substitute for cubic inches. And CAFE standards are not that hard to attain with variable valve management and lighter/better materials. Positive feedback welcome. :-)

    • @MenofValueSpeaks
      @MenofValueSpeaks Před 7 lety +8

      Paul Daluz The Pushrod engine was used in production 2 years after the OHC, both are archaic! Chevy has proven that 2 valves and pushrods aren't the issue. Uber Power does not equal great gas mileage. LS/LT1's are giving awesome power and torque and giving better gas mileage than their 4 valve counterparts.

    • @fartsare2023
      @fartsare2023 Před 7 lety +1

      Stephen Ayeni And they would probably be more efficient with variable valve timing/management. And I wasnt arguing against 2 valves per cylinder. My overall argument in my previous post was that the V8 shouldnt go away because of CAFE standards. There are a plethora of ways to make a V8 more efficient. Variable valve management. Direct port injection. Variable compression heads ( currently being developed by a joint Nissan and Mercedes venture ) , and better/lighter materials. Lastly, if current V8 renditions were equiped with the forced induction, direct injection, multi valve tech etc, these V8's would be hugely more powerful then a V6 just due to displacement alone. Add in variable valve management, special computerized algorithms in the software among a few things and you have increased efficiency. Like I said. Chevrolet's V8 formulas are fine. But there are things to do to preserve the V8 and stay within CAFE standards. However, in yoir defense, the V8 in the future will more likely be found in specialty niche markets like sports cars, Grand Tourers and heavy trucks. And thats pretty much it.

    • @MenofValueSpeaks
      @MenofValueSpeaks Před 7 lety

      Paul Daluz I've always wondered how a factory boosted LS3 or LT1 would act as far as gas mileage. bc you could pack such a fat torque curve in such low RPM, almost diesel like. I think with factory ported heads and many of which you just spoke v8's would never go anywhere. But companies will only do what they have to do. Bc R&D cost money and they don't want to pay it. I like the standards as they force innovation.

      There was something that I observed about Mopar, even before the Fiat buyout that was a source of great disappointment to me. The quality of Mopar products was poor even during the Mercedes-Benz era. Benz treated Mopar like it was that red headed stepchild at Christmas, just as the Italians have. It's almost as if the love affair between the Germans and Italians that existed before and during WW II is still maintained and Mopar, an American product is purposely meant to be left out in the cold. They'd prefer to lose money with the American labeled product than to incorporate up to date manufacturing facilities and technology in it. My gut feeling is that Chrysler products are going to be history before too long. The Ram truck line may survive for a while, but as for the cars, they're going to be gone. Whatever engines will be placed in the Rams is anybody's guess. The Cummins Diesel may survive, but gas engines will probably be some kind of pieced together imported Fiat junk. Pieced together so that it will pass US emissions regs. Then we're going to have Trump's import tariffs to deal with. God only knows what kind of effect that's going to have if the majority of the Chrysler vehicles contain mostly imported parts. It may be the death of Chrysler.

    That's a Damming blow, I seriously love Hemi's even though I am from England UK. I have been a Fan of Chargers, Challengers and Ram Trucks, even the new gen Durango for some time now. Sure Mercedes-Benz, AUDI and BMW's can do the same job with smaller size V8's & V6's, But none can quite beat a HEMI experience with that Hot sound and feel. In short it'le never be the same again, "The End Of An Era".

    It is 2021 and not only is the HEMI not dead, but we have even more variations of it. 5.7L hemi, 6.4L hemi, supercharged 707hp hemi, supercharged 797hp hemi, supercharged 807hp hemi (with the new Redeye Super Stock), and recent (but no longer produced) 840hp hemi in the Demon... and that's not even considering the how Chrysler is putting them in everything. Jeep? They have a hellcat hemi now. Dodge durango? Hellcat hemi. Ram? Hellcat hemi.
    The HEMI is not going anywhere.

    All things considered, I don't think we will see a day in the foreseeable future where you can't get a v8 option from each of the big 3. These companies are not dumb, they know exactly what Americans want in a muscle car and they will strive to make that, not to say they won't offer smaller options. They might not be a massive 6.4 liter, but I don't think anyone has to worry about being able to get a v8 anytime soon, if the Hemi name was retired it would just be replaced with something else.

  • @upsidedowndog1256

    There are much better combustion chamber designs now, more power and lower emissions.

    • @novaman3509
      @novaman3509 Před 7 lety +1

      Anthony Butera Wrong! The HEMI head has the best flow numbers of any American car, with the 5.7 heads flowing 340cfm, or more! To give you an idea, Chevy's 6.2L LS cylinder heads flow about 280cfm!
      The HEMI's draw back, is its tiny camshaft. The 5.7 is only 395hp, because Chrysler wanted power, and fuel efficiency. Massive head flow, high compression, tiny camshaft.
      This is why the 5.7 responds so well to an aftermarket camshaft. A good camshaft (and subsequently, valve springs and a good tune) can bump the 5.7 HEMI to 450-480hp.

    • @novaman3509
      @novaman3509 Před 7 lety

      Anthony Butera It's an efficient enough design that Porsche, Audi, VW and Ferrari copied many of their cylinder head designs off of the Chrysler Hemi -- with some variations and tweaks, of course.

    • @upsidedowndog1256
      @upsidedowndog1256 Před 7 lety

      NovaMan 350 Yes, it has worked very well for 85 years or so, but this year even Harley Davidson finally abandoned it reluctantly to be able to pass newer emissions regulations. They have the most advanced fuel injection system there is except for formula one, just to keep the old tech aircooled pushrod hemi head emission compliant. until now.

    • @novaman3509
      @novaman3509 Před 7 lety

      Anthony Butera I can't claim to be an expert on Harley Davidson cylinder heads, but what I can see from the pictures shows that their older combustion chambers were definitely not hemispherical. The roof of the combustion chamber, in between the valves, is slightly rounded, but that's the only resemblance of a Hemi head I can see there.
      Their new head design seems to be a penthouse design. I imagine the switched too a penthouse because they went to 4 valves per head, over 2. With the old head design, it appears impossible to have 4 valves.

    • @upsidedowndog1256
      @upsidedowndog1256 Před 7 lety

      NovaMan 350 While you are looking, notice how Harley leaves no provisions for individual valve adjustment. The hydraulic lifters and pushrods act on a single piece rocker for two valves. That's gonna be a problem.
