If you were actually looking for an explanation about the new mons that look like old mons but aren't called regional forms, this is my understanding:
Pokémon like Wigglet and Toedscool represent convergent evolution, which is when two completely distinct species develop the same/similar adaptations. Shark and dolphin anatomy is an example of this. They have very similar body types to be optimized for swimming, despite them being totally separate families of animals that don't come from a common ancestor
Meanwhile, regional variants in Pokémon represent the basic principles of evolution such as Darwin's original study of finches developing different beak shapes based on their food sources. Animals from the same family will develop differently based on their environment and survival needs

I wasn't expecting to see more than Wigglett, but it makes sense the game they introduce the convergent evolution in has more than one Pokémon to show it!

Im going to be completely honest. In my personal opinion and experience the bad things ive heard about the game have barely cropped up. I crashed once but that was cuz i tried to battle a electrode as it exploded so obviously its a stress on code. Pop ins happen but that doesn't bother me too much. I am yet to see any actually distracting bugs or glitches. I might just be lucky.

2:14:52 Absolutely agree with you here, don't think it's nitpicky at all. Mesagoza feels so bad to me cause 90% of the buildings are just the same blank shop screens or doors that you can't enter. It just sucks cause I love how in other games like Dragon Quest when there's a big city, there's so much to explore inside nearly every building and house.
EDIT: About 80% of the way through the game and wow.. I really didn't think every single city would be like Mesagoza. What a bummer

you don't need to go to the bag every time to thow a pokeball, just press X, choose which pokeball you want and press A... it's much quicker
Does anyone else find it so funny when Shady will just go quiet in the middle of a sentence and clearly be on his phone for like 10 seconds? I've never seen any other youtuber/streamer do that lol

I get the feeling that with a lot of people coming across these bugs/glitches, that Game Freak is likely going to be taking a lot of notes for them to make a huge update patch for the games. Which I find funny that they never saw those bugs/glitches when making the game. But its also a nice way to let people know to not get games yet til they get those patched up. Especially since it could hurt their sales.
Gamefreak is notorious for being awful with their code.

FYI there are gold sparkles everywhere except in towns, they give you BERRIES & other Items too.. so collect them too..... they are all over, in grass, sand, dirt path etc. just look around while you walk, just remember they are tiny, so look closely while you walk... I've watched a few Pokemon CZcamsrs, One I saw doing that & I've been doing it all the time on my Scarlet play though, once I beat that one, then I''ll play Violet (i have both), but LUKEY & DYLAN from United didn't get the gold sparkles in the game when I watched their play 1st play through the game.... maybe you could let them know too

I wasn't going use pawmi but found a full odds shiny so I feel like I have use it and it's growing on me ( found a shiny Marill as well but only use new Pokemon as well)

I didn't know you could get stuck there, because noone is stupid enough to go back to a door that you can't go through. Actually, after trying a few doors in the furst town I stopped trying, so I didn't even pay attention to this door. But not this man. He is letting other people's words influence his opinion. Making him incredibly biased and bashing every walk animation and getting angry at a door that he can't go through. So angry, in fact that the door felt the need to retaliate against him. Lesson learned: Bully a door, expect to he bullied back.

Its so strange, on the optimization issues, I have had no issues playing the digital version of Scarlet on my Monster Hunter Rise switch... but my GF is having a bunch of issues with the digital version of Violet on the OLED switch. She even had it crash on her a few times and I have not even once. And I don't get any of the slow down she does.

The games content is solid. Yeah performance is poop, but it's a fun game. The vision Game Freak was going for was great, one of the best stories in Pokemon. Just ignore or adapt to the performance issues. Also I can't believe you made me watch 7 hours of your "Full Game Playthrough" to hear you say you weren't recording anymore. Like wtf crap is that?

I found a shiny Oinkologne, but since it was the first one I'd seen, I just thought "Oh cool, Lechonk turns pink when it evolves" and didn't battle it😭
whoopers evolution is really cool and strong.... you gotta see it when it evolves, so cool and it doesn't evolve into Quagsire, it evolves into a brand new pokemon

The only important part I wanted to see is past the part where he cut off the stream. This reminds me of his USUM series. A game that is absolutely jaw-dropping incredible at the end, and he stops recording the game partway through and finishes it alone.

As much as I would have loved to see you finish the game on stream, I respect the decision to play it off stream. Having fun is the most important part and if that isn't happening on stream then its for the best.
Unfortunately a bit disappointing. I think the game is actually really great. Not the best like usual. But I think its not that bad as some people say. The more you are into it the better it is.
I always really enjoyed you making a playthrough for new Pokemon games and I was waiting for so long for your first run :(

what’s up bro i recently started watching ur channel again and i have both versions of this game and after finishing both versions i got to say yes this game is laggy sadly and it has alot of glitches but other then that Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is actually very fun and the glitches are extremly funny

He is either running on the switch 2.0, and they patched the game. Or it actually does look like ass and it only looks good to us bc of his streaming hardware.
Game’s quality is all over the place tbh, like when I started out (digital version) I was like, my game looks way better than his. 10 minutes later the screen was literally hurting my eyes to try to look at
So dumb that you have to guess which gym leaders you have to fight. Like I really hate how in the beginning it gives you the illusion that you have the freedom to explore anything whenever you want except you HAVE to fight the gym leaders or your pokémon won't obey and you HAVE to fight them in a specific order otherwise you'll be fighting a level 50 gym leader in the beginning of the game.
It's so easy to scale their levels, it makes absolutely no sense for them to not do that
I really hope at least one pokttuber I follow does a proper series of this game, cause I really can't stand vods.

It’s interesting to me that the games keep becoming more open world, they either want to just follow game trends (which to me doesn’t suit Pokémon as well), or they want to deter Nuzlockes intentionally because they know the PokeTube community prefers that method over the actual game.
They're becoming more open world because people are getting tired of how linear pokemon games are, you travel a set route battle set fights and it's the same. Open world is definitely the next step, they just need to be able to make it more optimized.
I think the open world is a good thing, especially for nuzlockers, it allows for more replayability. And gives different people a different level of challenge depending on how they want to go about it.
Na open world it definitely the right move, they just have to add level scaling and focus on optimization in the next gen
@@mike21378 open world is growing tiresome. Everyone is doing it. Routes can still have a sense of being open but you can have an engaging story and better gameplay if kept contained. God of War is going to win GOTY and they went semi open. Still the best method for gaming.
This game is awesome for nuzlockes personally, I think it’ll be great for replayability. Nuzlockes usually end when you hit the credits- this game has so much content before the credits that your playthrough will actually last a while(unlike Galar)
But yeah the first encounter thing is gonna be weird. I’m going to try and like select a random spot on the area, then when reaching that area pick the mon closest to that spot I guess.

Is it just me or did Shady seem pretty angry/annoyed during this entire stream? I just went rewatched some of his Sun and Moon videos and he seems like a totally different person he wasn't even paying attention to cutscenes and etc..

I think it's also a bit of how the game was running, but also people constantly asking him about it. I kinda started getting tired of hearing how shitty it's running, too. Seemed like every couple minutes it was being mentioned.

You know those time when you can just tell that people are awesome just by listening to them talk for a a minute or two. This man is a legend.
Game Freak really seems to have a hard time keeping up with the rest of the gaming world these days.
I think I’d rather see an open world Pokemon Ranger or Mystery Dungeon game to be honest before tackling the main series. And it makes no sense why this game is even lagging, when so many other Switch games that have far more intensive graphics do perfectly fine.
Genshin Impact seems to run way better, and I’m on mobile.

The way I see it, the point of games is to have fun. If you're having fun, that's all that matters, and graphical glitches or slightly subpar framerate aren't important enough to harp on. If the issues ruin your fun, then you can complain, but also don't play something that you don't enjoy 🤷♂
It's not just about ruining the fun, it also breaks immersion, which is a big deal. I can get completely lost in a game like Horizon Zero Dawn or God of War on the PS4, games released 5 years ago and still absolutely stunning, and completely lose track of time. The frame drops and the glitches break immersion, ruining not the fun necessarily, but the experience and escapism of playing video games
@@HalcyonVentures Given the graphical quality of every Pokemon game ever, if you have no trouble immersing yourself in a Pokemon game until there are some frame hiccups, I don't really know how your brain processes immersion.

@@IceMetalPunk your original post didn't say "gameplay is the most important thing", as that I agree with. The gameplay is great so in my mind the rest is forgivable. But a studio like Game Freak shouldn't be releasing a game where fans have to defend aspects of the game and are telling people to overlook the glitches and the problems.
I've been telling people it's a good game that's loads of fun, because I think it is, but I also think GF could have done better. If we don't call out studios for it then the quality of games is only going to go down if they think they can get away with it. Much better to take the time to get it right and release a masterpiece than rush a half-baked game out of the door.
Good games need defending and their redeeming qualities highlighted to excuse the flaws. Great games speak for themselves.
Dang that's tough daddy penguin doesn't care much for the game. When I think these are by far the best pokemon games we've gotten to date EZ (yes the technical issues suck but i don't care)
