  • This video walks you through opening up a RoboRock S5 and accessing parts of it that are normally not accessible to clean and often causes error 10 messages, and solves the constant change filter warning from the unit. A fun weekend afternoon activity!
    Remember - do not do this if your unit is under warranty as IT WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY. And if you are a total noob with these kind of things, record with a video so you can retrace your steps to put it back together.
    For those looking to find a solution to the cliff sensor errors, please watch • Can your Robot Vacuum ...
    for a hack that really works. This will allow your roborock to work nicely on carpets and floors with black lines and patterns.
    I use a Xiaomi Roborock S5. There are a couple different versions of this model but essentially the same steps. You will find this video useful and similar to working with the Roborock S6, T6 and other variations.

    Thanks! I started the dismanteling without your video, but then did not dare take off the clipped on top, before you showed it. I also might have had problems with the 3 hidden screws...
    I had no error message but it's now 5 years old and started to leave a lot of fine dust lying around, so I thought there must be something wrong with the air flow. ChatGPT suggested the same.
    A lot of screwing out and in, but it's working again.

    Mate thanks for this, I followed your process as I was getting the Error 10. One thing you missed is that when you're cleaning your filter (as you show on the video) you also have to remove the vacuum pump (round thing) as it ALSO has small filter underneath is which also fills up with dust. I removed it and found a patch of dust covering another filter between the pump and the exhaust port (or whatever it is called). Great video, thanks

      Glad it was helpful and thank you for your comment - adds to our knowledge pool. Been some time so I cannot quite remember the round filter (or they may have added that into later production batches) but I hope others having the same issue will catch it or read your comment.

    I had the same issue error 10. The black rubber exhaust is attached to a circular part there, I unscrewed that circular part and inside it was fully blocked. You may have gotten it when you hoovered out that rubber exhaust, but if not, that part is also worth a clean out.

    This should not happen. Have to dismantle the whole thing to clean it. It never happened to me with an Irobot roomba, this is bad design and unfortunately you can’t know it by reviews until it happens to you

    How that black filter could be the intake filter? The vacuum is sucking the air from below, from the floor. I think that black filter is the filter for exhaust. But why does it need a filter for exhaust if it has a Hepa filter in upstream?

    • @CrazyDaddyG
      @CrazyDaddyG  Před 2 lety +2

      Hi. That is a good point. It IS a vent or exhaust. The air is sucked in through the floor, throught the hepa filter and then out the vent. Any one of them being blocked will cause a performance deterioration. I suspect there is a bit of a design flaw in the original S5 because an earlier s5 model I used, the entire inside motor and electrical area was caked in dust when I opened it up. So the air flow is not so efficient. You are right. Why put a foam filter there? Is it sucking in dust from somewhere it is not meant to? Maybe when the hepa filters get a bit clogged up, air may be flowing the wrong way?

    I tried to disassemble mine because of a pee accident of my dog but when I tried unscrewing the bottom cover I found that there is a plastic seal over the last screw. I am afraid of loosing guarantee if I tamper that seal. Did you have to break that seal to get to unscrew everything as you show in the video?

    • @CrazyDaddyG
      @CrazyDaddyG  Před rokem

      Yes, you do need to break through that seal and yes, it may likely void your warranty. If it is still under warranty best to send it to an authorized service center.

    Hi Crazy Daddy,
    I loved your video. It was very helpful, but I'm stuck at the last part where you take the whole top off to expose the black filter. Is there a special trick or a hidden screw that I may have missed? Thanks for your helpful video.
    Thanks,
    Erika

    • @CrazyDaddyG
      @CrazyDaddyG  Před rokem +1

      you probably did. The top comes off quite nicely and without much strength applied. The screws are all over so that is likely the case.

    this is not necessary if u just want to clear the filter and other basic cleanings. most parts that need to be cleaned are removable without unscrewing. There are more parts that can be removed more than u expected...

    • @CrazyDaddyG
      @CrazyDaddyG  Před 2 lety

      Agree. I think it also when you bought your roborock. Some of the newer ones are better at this while the earlier models had a poor venting system.

      @@CrazyDaddyG I am having the same model as yours. About to give up due to long map loading time. it takes like 10 to 15 mins to load. Luckily the Timer function which I was not aware initially save my trouble. It just work according to your set schedules.

    Did it fix error 10? Sure allot to take apart just for a fan.

    • @CrazyDaddyG
      @CrazyDaddyG  Před 2 lety +2

      It did. I have a couple of these devices and notice the design internally has changed. The earlier design caused dust to totally clog the airflow intake. You also tend to get some errors on filter blocked if you use OEM filters. But to your question, I do find a massive clean-up is needed once every 2 years if you want to give it a new lease of life.

    • @markc1310
      @markc1310 Před 2 lety +1

      @@CrazyDaddyG Thank you for following up. Thats great to hear. I have an S5 that started giving the Error 10 message a couple weeks ago. I cant seem to dislodge whatever is inside, its been running fine for a year or more. So I will have to carefully take it apart. They definitely didn't design it to be easily cleaned in the dirtiest areas. I empty my filter nightly and this has only take over a year to build up. So it looks like I found something to do on Saturday. Thanks for the video and letting me know it was successful. I will be watching it again!
