  • Dead Mall | Signal Hill Mall - Statesville, NC. Touring around the Signal Hill Mall and remembering all the time I spent there as a child. This mall opened in 1973 and was never updated. It still looks like like it did when it opened. Sadly it is more or less abandoned now and the only only stores left are Belk and Wooten Jewelers.

Cool video man. The Record Bar was the same record store you were videoing asking about. I remember my mom got me the Michael Jackson Billie Jean 45 in there when I was like 6 lol. It had 4 or 5 different names. I remember it was called Tracks or something at one time also.
I spent hours in that place....worked at Hills in High School. It's a shame the owner just lets it rot.

That is a cool story about the Michael Jackson 45 record. I can't recall my age at the time. But my first non country album was purchased at the Record Bar. It was Michael Jackson Thriller!😆 Thanks for watching.

I was so shocked to see the mall in this condition. Thank you for stopping by my channel. Next time I am in the area I will try to film something else.

Great to see a vid from someone that grew up in the mall! The maintenance guy keeps the place clean, but the ceilings are a mess and he can’t help that…

Walking through the mall that day really tugged at my heart strings. It was sad to see how little was there. And for the ceiling and mildew smell. I wish they would fix that for the sake of the maintenance man working there. Thank you for watching.

The Record Bar was exactly right there. That was my after school hangout spot in the 80's. Great memories in that mall. So sad they let it get this way.

I have watched this place dwindle down to nothing. Spent my childhood and most of my adult life there. Sad to see it go!

I agree with you Scott. I hate to see it waste away. The mall was a great place to hangout with friends or just do some shopping. It will be missed by our generation. Thanks for watching.

Spainhour’s, Sage Sports, New York & Company(formerly known as Lerner), and Pearle Vision Center are some of the other stores. Foot Action was once on the same end with Radio Shack.

Omg… so many memories here. My godmom worked at KB toys and I remember playing in the store waiting for her to get off. Ahhh… the water fountain, the bookstore, the Tuxedo shop, the pet store - JC Pennys where they would have performers in front of the store… wow - so many memories.

@@HitchHikingYeti I worked at Woolworth in 1980. I worked at Mom and Pops in high school. I also worked in 1981 at JC Penney wrapping presents at Christmas. And I worked another Christmas job at Mr. Sport in about 1988. I grew up in behind the carwash. When I wasn't working on my dad's shop or public work, I lived at the mall. I could write a book about things relating to the mall. I remember buying my 45's at Woolworth and just about everything else. I'm older than you, so you may not remember a couple of those stores, but when the mall first opened, the stores ( some of them were different)
I was pregnant with my daughter when I worked at Woolworth. That store alone holds so many good memories. I watched your video teary eyed. Thank you

Surprised that place is still open? I was thinking that Sears was one of the last ones left in the state? The Sears website was showing that store as open a couple of years ago? Amazing that the fountain is still on.
