After This Mom Climbed Into The Crib With Her Baby, She Shared The Heartbreaking Reason Why

  • When one new dad returned home to find his wife curled up with their baby in her crib, he thought it was adorable. He was so enamored with the scene, in fact, that he took a photograph of it to look back on in years to come. At the time, however, he had no idea of the heartbreaking reason behind his wife’s actions. That woman, moreover, is Dayna Mager, who had first met her husband Matt when she was just 12 years old. They would become high school sweethearts and, in 2010, eventually go on to tie the knot. Then, in October 2015, the couple from Ann Arbor, Michigan, welcomed their first child - a girl named Luella.

My mom said she didn’t have to deal with me when growing up because I could take care of my self but she coddled my sister because she couldn’t. I always felt left out. No matter how strong your child seems please give them equal attention. It really affected my self esteem.

Highbaby9 so sorry that you felt that way.... I’m sure your mom didn’t mean it the way it sounded. I’ve had 3 kids, and after my 3 child was about 3 I could relax a bit and think about their futures. My firs thought was that my oldest J. Was already independent and was fairly good at amusing herself, she was 9. My 2nd daughter S. was 6 and she demanded attention constantly, and if something was really wrong I got a full blown temper tantrum. She handled things badly and I thought to myself, she’s gonna make a lot of mistakes and I’ll be picking her up and dusting her off many times. My 3 rd child J. my only boy was a quiet boy who just watched everything very intently, he did everything late...walking,talking,potty training etc. there wasn’t anything wrong, he just wouldn’t do it till he could do it right. Let’s fast forward about 30 yrs. my oldest, J a girl is now married has a 6 yr old son, has worked for the same company since she was 16. She’s stable secure, I don’t have to worry about her. My 2nd daughter S. Never made it past 17. She was killed in a traffic accident. My son J, has a 3 yr old son.....he and the mother are not together, as the have a history with drug addiction/abuse. We don’t really have a good relationship and probably never will.
My point is your mom just knew you would be ok, she didn’t say it to hurt you. If anything she really meant it as a compliment! Never doubt a mother’s 💕

Why would any woman feel like a "failure" because she had a c section? Something isn't right with our culture when women are feeling this way, and I have heard other women say this dozens of other times. Getting a c section is not failing. It is a horrendously challenging event for a woman...mind, body and spirit. She should feel proud she got through it and not like a failure!

True, having to have a c-section doesn't make you less of a mother and isn't an easy recovery. One of my daughters had to have c-sections with both her boys who were over 9lbs. She had women who said, "oh you couldn't stick it out through natural childbirth huh?" And she would simply tell them that she did what was the healthiest for her babies and that was all that mattered. She never said she felt like she had failed them in any way and proud that she stood her ground with those who criticized her. Her oldest son graduated high school this year. Both boys are wonderful well adjusted young men. Their mom and dad have done a great job.

When I gave birth to twins back in 1998, the boy had group B strep & almost died. He spent several weeks in the hospital & because he also had severe acid reflux which caused projectile vomiting of his formula, the doctors wouldn't allow him to take a bottle, only a pacifier dipped in apple jelly. They were afraid he might aspirate. He cried so much because he was hungry. I climbed up into the big metal hospital crib so I could hold his pacifier in his mouth & cuddle him. Hey you gotta do what ya gotta do when you're a mommy.

I had this exact feeling with my firstborn. He had colic and I dragged through months on 3 hours sleep when I was lucky. It broke me but he is mine and I am his. When his sister was born I made her that promise too. They are almost grown now. Over the years I've been told I'm too protective but they are happy, healthy, and outgoing. I've had my long hard nights of viruses and days of comforting the various heart breaks of childhood. I don't regret being "overprotective" even for a minute. My kids are brave and strong because they feel safe. They can handle whatever the world may dish out because they know they are truly and deeply loved. I am SO blessed to have been able to be there when they needed me. It was hard, so hard but worth it for the bond we share and the love I see in them not just for me but for others as well. Nothing worth it comes free. To any new parents reading this I encourage you. You will make mistakes we all do but love your kids; they WILL forgive you. Mistakes made in love are easy to forgive. Be the parent your heart wants to be and don't let others discourage you. I wish I could thank this woman for sharing her story. Best wishes to everyone reading this who is struggling through the hard parts. They don't last forever. You'll get there.

My wife gave birth by C-section to both our children who are now 39 and 37 years old. Back then there were women who said to my wife that she didn't really experience childbirth and that she really can't claim having all the feelings of motherhood since she didn't push a baby out the birth canal. People can say the most hurtful things.

As a mom you can't afford not to be. They grow up way too fast. You hold them tight as a baby, blink and they are going off to a friends house to play. Every moment is precious.

Unfortunately and I pray that the bonding stage has not been so damaged that they may never know that love.
I guess the don't have a program here where grandmothers or older aunts can came in and rock and just hold them-awhile just to provide some sort of bonging for these babies. This is the kind of stuff that gets me the most. No way could I pass and not try to do absolutely nothing.

Jade Hunter honey how do you know exactly what they actually done behind the curtain. God also asks us not to be boastful of the blessings we share to others. I dont think we should b "judgeing" this . Im sure if they went there they done something if it wasnt but donate money. We dont knw what god put on their hearts or even their walk with god . I think the story was a way of showing how grateful we should be actually. For all we knw her or her husband are sick in sme way that they dont share and cant take on the responsibility of 100 plus (beautiful) babys. That situation may had happened bc god wanted her to see she needed to cme out of her depressed time and love and enjoy that baby she has. There may be more to the story.......... never know. I will say either way god knws those missionaries that travel are out to help and love others. God will bless them for whatever they had to give. Even if it wasnt much. I knw you said you will b praying, i also will b praying for those babies tonight. All in all i knw god has his eye on them . Thank you lord, whatevers in your will lord

      Old Fashion Mommy
How was Jades comment being judgmental or boastful in your opinion? Sharing in itself is a blessing to others just as this mother explained. I have an aunt and uncle and a niece who are missionaries and have witnessed similar situations in orphanages in Africa and Nepal. They helped set up Christian outreach programs for as many of the orphanages as they could.
One of the locations strapped babies to potty seats for hours where they cried and rocked back and forth. They were able to gather volunteers to come in daily and help in many areas. Several babies families were funded so they could take their children back into their homes and care for them again.
