Indeed, Kireth, very sad. I started simracing - aged 59 - at the end of 2019, following you, Rory, Ollie and Charlie in team ROCK.
As you said, very special times, perhaps when Gran Tursimo peaked. Again, as you suggested, the COVID lockdowns fostered this sense of community.
I can still play Sport offline with my treasured disc. I might buy another just in case. I'd love to see you make a video featuring your Sport memorable moments - a tribute.
Maybe a legends race!!
GT Sport got me further down the rabbit hole, besides GT racing and reaching that A+, digging deeper into Touge racing, GTS was my prime time of drifting on a rather high level with a japanese team and i will never forget that time and also it teached me a lot which i could translate to other disciplines, GTS basically had a huge impact on my skillset

This is so sad to hear, GT Sport was a big part of my past on ps4 had it since 2017, tons of great memories with friends I made playing multiplayer, if it wasn’t for this game I wouldn’t have met them, rip GT Sport 😢

But... there's really nothing you could do there that you can't do on GT7.
I think most of the affection is nostalgia, nothing wrong with that, but it's more to do with you and what you were doing at the time than the game itself. I'm an old man now and have been there before.

Hey. Question! I need help from absolutely N E 1. I have done 52 races on GT7 Sport. Its suppose to pop a trophy at 50 races finished. Anyone know why it doesn't work? Do I have to place in top 3, 50 times??
Fave gt sport moment was finishing first in a Greek tournament and getting an invitation to drive the Ford GT Le mans car 😢 I can't forget that day ! It was the last day that I truly felt happy it has all been downhill from then 😔

Will miss GT Sport online for many reasons, 1 example being in TT daily race qualifying it’s always exactly the same conditions, unlike in GT7.

That stinks, but it helped me learn the tracks b4 I moved on to GT7. I just got GT7 last month and achieved A/S rating last night. Practicing for manufacturers cup tomorrow now. It got me into SIM racing, and now have all the equipment ordered to raise the bar.
Like others i created soo many liveries. I personally uploaded MANY decals that a load of ppl downloaded and thanked me for. Took soo many requests for personal decals too.
I'm not shocked tho.
I have a question I am still able to buy new cars and to races and everything saves.what is happening.why can I do it but not others
The liveries being inaccessible is the worst part for me. I spent many hours creating some pretty good ones and now they are just going to vanish? Or do you retain ones you already made and just can't do new ones? My personal favourite was i made the pace car into a Mad Max Main Force Patrol car.
can you export to gt7? Most of KCR did this

I am playing granturismo for 25 years!i am 41 now and gt sport was my first gran turismo playing with steering wheel not pad..and i instantly fall in love with gt sport and the whole online experience!!it made me a better player for sure and i am enjoying gt7 from A+ dr level know and that is thanks to gt sport!!!
Gt Sport cost me a lot of money and got me competitive. Got a G29 at the start of Covid for 103£ + 20£ bean bag + 6£ Ikea table, and that was my rig. Due to the sheer number of people online, I wanted better gear and ended up modifying my G29, CSL Elite & CSL DD, all in about 18 months. I don't think I could NOT play GT now. I will never financially recover from this ha.
I have both games and gt7 got me back into the franchise I love. I like sport and the realism but I also like that tuning plays a big part in gt7.
What's the point of playing sport when gt7 is out lmao, its the same engine, 7 has more cars, better graphics, and more tracks
The same nostalgia you speak of is still available for those who played GT before "always online". I can go back and play GT4 whenever I want to. It's not dependent on servers or developers maintenance or even because the developer shuts the game down.
I will never pay for a game again that I can't play when I want for how long I want without sacrifice. Basically companies are saying " thanks for the money suckers, now go away". Those who bought GTS payed for the game, the dlc and will be left with shell of the game when it dies. Lesson learned.

I played gt sport since i was 5 (im 10 now), Im sad it shut down since I collected hundreds of cars, i never got good at it but i did have hundreds of cars inclyding the fastest car in the game. I did recently get Gran turismo 7 and thats still really fun
I hope that from now on they will focus everything on improving GT7 and giving us what we need and want. Please, PD!

To me on GT7, it sort of feels like GT sport since everything is ported over to a new gen. When the GT8 happens the same fate for year later, over and over repeat cycle. I've never own nor played GT sport before same to GT6. Last gen I played is GT5...
Games like this ending make me wonder if there is a business model for a third party to host servers for old unsupported games like this. IDK there are probably a lot problems that I don't understand but it seems they would be a audience and customer base for it.

The online races on GTS never work anymore. I get disconnected from at least 3 out of 4 that I try to join. Waste of time. But why is that I wonder? Maybe it's intentional.

you cant, the game has stupid online save system so its quite litteraly impossible to do anything after that date

Knowing I bought this game as a gold edition just for them to shut down the server and i'm losing all my stuff. I'm not happy about that. Which is why I am now playing Assetto Corsa on PC now. Why? Its not online required to play and can throw loads of cool car and track mods to the game.
I can see Kaz rubbing his hands together for the Envitable Gran Turismo live services that will be the unnumbered online only no single player Future hell we are heading to.
Sport died when ps5 came out along with gt7 and vr surprised its lasted this long.

Gt6 was the last game that will be a collectors item and continue to be a playable game. Once kaz and sony decided to go always online that was the end of gaming as we knew it. So glad i haven't bought into the whole next gen thing as i still play on ps4 and GT7 which of course will go the same way. So glad i have kept my ps2 &3 as i can always revisit the GT games i love. Sony like Microsoft are taking gaming in a direction that benefits them and not the gamer. It's all about money now !

I used to destroy people on the EMEA server on the Nordschleife... it can't just end... I'm the Nürburgring God after all. I love wrestling my car around the Nordschleife. GT7 is a piece of trash in terms of driving physics. Cars understeer under braking and snap oversteer isn't fixed yet...
And besides of that, I could use Ayrton Senna's driving style on GT Sport
I tried playing yesterday. Cars just dont feel right compared to GT7 also at leaat GT7 pen system works a bit more than sport.

At least they are removing the always online requirement for those who only play offline.
It is a 6 years old game dude, that has a successor with plenty of action online.
Also, you it was online for more time than GT5 and GT6.
I've been a long time fan of Gran Turismo and I barely started playing Sport just this week, and the fact they did this really infuriates me. They just turned into a bunch of cash grabbing Assholes. Even Call Of Duty still has all of there titles online still. This is so disappointing and I refuse to even play 7 because it's so terrible.

I reckon over 90% of people have moved over to GT7 by now at least. Plus all of Sport's content is on 7 anyway.
No doubt people will all of a sudden care about GT Sport like they did with Gravity Rush 2 and Everybody's Golf (Both Sony games that recently shut the servers down), if it mean they can regurgitate the "Sony are anti consumer" comment.
i have moved on to GT7 but ill admit there are many things that just arent the same to me, plus i have a lot of memories from my cars in that game so losing them is kinda sad

Honestly, you people deserve this. If you didn't catch on by GT6, you never will. They are FORCING you to upgrade every few years. Instead of releasing dlc like the old days, they are making the same game every few years, and reselling it to you as a brand new title. And now that they're able to do this as 'live service ', it's just gonna get worse. You're going to lose everything once gt7 is shut down. All the progress you made will be wiped out. All so they can sell you a shiney new gt8 disc. If you'd stop supporting this company and demand better from them, they'd actually listen. But you keep buying into it every time, so you deserve it.
If you're sick of the crap, go buy Forza horizon or Forza 7 and stay there. They are complete games you can play offline, and they have great dlc.

Okay cards on the table....genuinely when was the last time you played it, me myself probably just before GT7 came out.....amd thats the problem who's playing it now? So lets lose the crocodile tears. There are some things GTS did better like the circuit experience in GTS it was in a central hub where all the tracks that had circuit experience were in one place. Thats not the case in GT7 its spread all over the place. I also liked the Green and Orange sector triangles that would appear on screen for every sector. GTS was more forgiving than GT7 take the death chicane at Dragons Trail its so much more forgiving than GT7. I'm gopmg to be hammering GTS for the remaining trophies before they pull the plug in Jan 2024. GTS RIP old friend.
