Every other hunting CZcams channel--"how to hunt the rut"
"How to find buck bedding areas"
John-"can't hunt with wet feet"
I love it.
For sure! Too many videos on this guys method or that guy how to hunt this or that terrain and beds etc. I been hunting for over 30 years- Im not a pro by any means, but I think I got it a bit. Tell me something I dont know. This is different and more practical to keep you in the woods. Awesome stuff.
Thank you for the great demo. You revealed a lot of answers to questions that I had never been answered reading reviews on Amazon. Thanks again!
I got a Peet’s for Christmas about 8 years ago. One of the best gifts I’ve ever gotten. It’s not near as cold here in the south obviously, but sweating in your boots makes them wet , and even in mildly cold temps a wet boot can be miserable. Not to mention it’s nice putting on a warm pair of boots in the morning. I use it on all my boots not just hunting ones .
Been getting really into hunting this last 12 months , watched every podcast with your name on it in last year! got my first scentlok suit, and on November 12th I did my first "mobile setup" and setup near a bucks bed I scouted and found last February. Seen a huge 10 point , but 100 yards away so couldn't get it done. But wanted to say thanks for your time and making these episodes! I may not have had that experience if wasn't for you! I would LOVE if you could bring the camera with you next time you go scouting and show us more of the How, what, when, where, and why that goes threw your head picking a spot! thanks ! I am in central Michigan and that 10 point is one of the biggest I ever seen in 15 years of hunting!
scouting videos are coming - Joe
Great video once again! I have the Peet dryer and works great for what I need it for. I like the 12V method of that one though to keep in the vehicle. Lot of times Im way in the woods and dont have time to go into town or back to trailer to plug one in.
Ditto, I have a 12 volt in my van on the passenger floor all the time during season.
Mans a living legend.
That harvests legends
💯
Great attention to detail as always. Keep the videos coming!!! Its easy to tell you do you research. 👍 central mi bow hunter here.
Thanks Ryan. Not so much research, knowing hunting products is my job as I'm a sales rep in the hunting industry and have represented a lot of categories so I know a lot about garments, boots, layering, etc. and I have to know the competition and there price points and good or bad qualities.
Great stuff John. We would also love to get information regarding your:
Health & Fitness
Layer Clothing
Scouting
Thanks again John, we can't soak up enough of your knowledge!
They will all come
That was a valuable video to me. Nicely done!
Excellent job. Thank you.
Love the content keep it up
You should do an episode teaching Michigan guys how to vote
No no teach them how to count actually votes of living registered voters
MAGA2020
Amen to that brother, totally agree and the dem states are setting a precedent on mail in ballots every 4 years if this isn't challenged in the courts. Elections will be meaningless going forward if this is allowed to continue.
It’s looking like we”ll at least keep the senate. 🙏 .
Keep the politics in political forums please!
thumbs up video thanks. what one do you think would work the best to warm up ski boots before you put them on??
I've kept my insulation packs inside my boots on a convection dryer -- works great (overnight). Anything I'm missing other than drying time that I should remove the inner packs to dry separate from the boot shell? Finally, boot dryers are effective at "regenerating" the scent lock carbon, correct?
Thank you!
Very cool man.
I would think that another great benefit would be to prevent odor causing bacteria to form in the boot. I haven't used them yet and hunting in the southeast, my feel sweat A LOT wearing rubber boots. Now I have a pair that stinks....so out of all that your presented, which would you recommend for home use (price not a factor)? Thanks John and keep the videos coming!!
I would get a dryer with forced air such as the mighty dry from jobsite - Joe
Thanks!
Where/how do you dry your boots so as not to scent contaminate them? Particularly mid-day when I don't return home between hunts. My boots never see the inside of my house or vehicle without being in a sealed tote. Also, do you leave the insoles in place while drying or remove them?
Thanks
Do you hunt out of state allot ? How do you manage licensing and tags for out of state hunting and what do you do with your deer ? Do you freeze the meat and ship it home or take it to a local butcher for wherever you are ? I don't think I've seen any videos addressing the out of state hunting process and what people do with the deer after the kill and the licensing thing
I typically bow hunt out of state once a year during the Michigan gun season because I don't gun hunt.
Mr. Eberhart, can you do a video on dealing with early season insects while wearing Scentlok? I hunt in South Central Indiana and they make hunting unbearable- I have to resort to using bug spray. I have adopted your approach of only hunting a few times in the early season, but this year they were really bad and I refused to go back out until was below 50 degrees. I’ve thought about smoking some regular hunting clothes out by a wood fire to see if the smell will keep them off of me. What do you do?
I have to say that when I wear ScentLok I have had zero issues with skeeters as they are attracted to your carbon dioxide which is covered when wearing ScentLok. I used to have major issues with them but only around my exposed face anymore. Are you having issues other than on exposed areas of your face?
I know you use waiters or hip boots to get to hunting locations however i was curious on what you do with your waiters/hip boots once you get to the location. Thanks.
I carry the hip boots or waders and change into them at the river edge, cross and change back into my hunting boots and roll up the hip boots or waders and hide them near the river edge for the exit.
@@eberhartoutdoors4219 Thank you!
How well do the ones that can take batteries, ac, or dc work?
Hello Mr. Eberhart,
Would love to see you bow set up
I set up his bows and they are not set up any different then any other bow for the most part but I will be doing a bow set up video in the future and some other tech videos - Joe ( I am an archery tech at a local shop )
Use a hair dryer if in a pinch and you don't have time before the hunt.. Here it's cold one week and hot the next and you can sweat in your boots.. try it
I fallow and use all your scentlok process. Would you use a ozone generator on just your boots after you dry them?
No as ozone is really bad for rubber - Joe
Dehumidifiers work well if water gets in your boots
I always thought I needed a breathable boot to keep my feet warm since my feet sweat. Do you think the lack of breathability is an issue with the Baffin or does the moisture wicking liner work well enough?
WOW, interesting comment. Breathable boots leave human odor and to me that is not acceptable. They also don't breath enough to keep socks and interiors dry, just enough to allow odor molecules out. Baffin boots are rubber exteriors so they do not breath or allow odor molecules to escape out any seams because there are none. Baffins have liners and if you walk long distances the boots will get damp from the walk. Check out the boot video and it will explain how to rectify that, or the warmers video.
@@eberhartoutdoors4219 I was not implying that the Baffin should breath. My feet sweat even when I sit still and my body is cold. This is true for many people (hyperhydrosis). My feet stay much warmer in any outdoor activity when I wear a breathable boot. For bow hunting I just deal with wet feet although I'm having some sucess with antiperspirant on my soles. I did buy a pair of Baffins and I think they will keep moisture off my skin longer than other rubber boots. I will find out soon. You did a great job answering a lot of my questions about how you handle moisture in your other videos. Thanks!
What was the brand last black portable one
Box fan over night works just fine
Is there any that have the same charger as a cell phone W/ lithium battery?
What time do you access you stand in the morning? How early to you get in there?
He said in one of his podcasts that he is usually there 2 hours before shooting light. So he gets there before they start moving from their bedding areas in the morning.
My wife's hair dryer works great for drying boots! She disapproves of this method though hahaha
Ditto from 25 years ago.
My baffins will be here saturday! Stole them on eBay for 75 bucks.....i got the cabelas trans Alaskan Pac boots they were like 259 bucks when they came out....they are warm as hell but it's like having a small child on each foot lol
I love my Baffins.
The baffins are even warmer if you change the liner out for the wool felt liners - Joe
@@eberhartoutdoors4219 Very interesting . Ty for that tip. Is there any particular brand that you could recommend?
Anyone know how true to size Baffin Titans are?
I have a pair and they run about a half size small. Thats what I have found and I also hear that from other hunters.
Would you mind covering how to be sent free to and in the stand.
Doug, there will be several shows on scent control next year. ScentLok owns the scent control market and technology on hunting garments and that is not up for debate. It will take several segments to drive home the technology, care, use, storage and overall details of how activated carbon lined clothing works. There are so many skeptics out there that have no clue of molecular adsorption and technology and I want to make sure everything is covered from ridiculous dog tracking tests to being able to commonly have mature deer downwind without spooking or having a clue. Scent control is such a game changer that I don't want to fluff it off with some inferior or should I say, not sufficient enough information.
@@eberhartoutdoors4219 when you said you do not need to pay attention to the wind..I said I have to here this...no way...I have used sent lock in the past, but after a few uses it did not seem to be as effective and the charcoal residue in the washer dryer made our close gray. Look forward to your videos
@@dougpierce3894 That had to be quite a few years ago if the suit was leaking carbon as they don't any more. My early suits left a little residue and if you washed your suits, you likely ruined them as they should not be washed as it breaks down the adhesive (glue) used to sandwich the carbon layer between the fabrics on either side. I'm looking forward to making the videos and it will require several to cover layering, exteriors, gloves, headcover with drop down facemasks, storage, care, use, technology and a plethora of other things. We have a lot of videos to make and it will be interesting. Will also do a video on layering as a stand alone because proper layering is very important. When you can go through an entire season without overheating on entries and exits and control your heat while on stand, hunting is much more enjoyable.
@@eberhartoutdoors4219 Thank you sir. Look forward to your videos.
many of these dryers claim to work for full face helmets, but I never see any pix or video showing how they "fit"
I could 3D print you a new dial knob selector plastic piece if you need
Wife's hair dryer ..🤐
Wifes hair dryer is a one station dryer and my wife would never let me use hers for drying my boots. It's not like boot dryers are expensive and they last forever.
Eberhart Outdoors true I have one boot dryer and one of my wife's dryers for when I'm in a rush.. lol take care .. Mu feet sweat early season
up until about a minute and a half you would think your about to talk about a product that keeps water out of your boot. you realize drying your boots after you wear them has nothing to do with how warm they will keep your feet right? 3:23. if hot air is gonna set your carpet on fire dont you think there would be a problem way before the carpet catches on fire and therefore wouldnt make a very good boot dryer?
Did he just say that the Jobsite dryer could actually start carpet on fire if there's no air flow? How hot does it get? It would need to be over 450 degrees F. Wouldn't the neoprene have long melted by then? I don't know John Eberhart. I smell poop.
I know that there has been issues when boot throats totally cover the base.
