- Welcome to a very special sneak preview of the upcoming Amp Academy pedal from NuX. As the saying goes, looks can be deceiving. That is absolutely true in the case of the Amp Academy, as it goes far beyond the look an feel of an amp modeling pedal. There's so much more going on with it.
This pedal will be released in March, so I'm only allowed to give you a little taste of what this does for now. Be sure to come back in a couple of weeks to get a full review and place your preorders for what is looking to be yet another large step forward for this growing brand.

I’ve been so impressed with NuX the past two years. The Atlantic is a FANTATIC delay/reverb. Very curious about Amp Academy!

I have dumb question. If you're using the 1/4 inch out jacks to go direct with the cab sims, do you use a standard guitar cable or ?
Thanks so much.. This thing really interests me because it would mean I could go direct with effects and such and this on a pedal board and just carry a pedal board and guitar to gigs.. Maybe a gig bag with two guitars for a back up and then a pedal board with this thing as the main sound of the amp and some other effects such as boost, compression, wah and delay and reverb going into this thing in front or the delay and reverb via the loop..

Hi, yes a standard guitar cable should be fine. I prefer to use cabling with good shielding.
Really looking forward to this pedal to complete my all-NUX pedal board haha --> Polytune 3 Tuner --> Masamune --> Fireman --> Ace of Tone --> Horseman --> Rivulet --> Atlantic --> (Amp Academy but currently a Tech21 Blonde) --> Solid Studio ---> USB Interface
Nice. BTW the Amp Academy can be used as an audio interface

I would like to use the Solid Studio because of its power amp sim switch which I am not sure if it’s available on the Amp Academy at this point (or it’s even necessary) definitely looking forward your review and tutorials 🤞

I’m thinking to pair this with my HX Effects, can we use Amp Academy USB port to connect to HX Effects Midi?
Not 100% sure that will work. Still digging into the Amp Academy

The product page mentions being able to send MIDI instructions to the pedal. Take a look there. Looks like the software comes with it has a list of midi instructions.

When you already own a MG-30, does it has different tones?
Not really. The effects are still the same ones you'll find in the MG-30.

Is it a Strymon Iridium or Atomic Amplifire Firebox knock off? Seems to do the same things, more or less.

@@ThePedalGuy It's a fair question. Just trying to get a feel for where it lies as the Iridium and Firebox sound very different. Does it have a reverb? The Editor at 2.00 shows one, but I don't see any controls on the box.
@@joebloggs4369 I agree that it’s a fair question. I don’t think it’s very polite to call it a knock off. Just saying that if you want help, maybe keep that in mind for future questions.
I haven’t explored all of the secondary functions yet which NuX always includes with their pedals but yes it does include reverb.
