Beautiful way to honor the memory of all those who lost their lives...never forgotten.
I don't know how this video isn't viral. Incredible
I just learned of this tragedy this week. WSU has a nice 1hr documentary about it on CZcams. I will never forget this. Their memories will live on forever.
i know right. super sad. also stinks that they don’t have a football program anymore because that would be really cool.
I looked on WSU YT page and couldn't find the Documentary till i searched wsu plane crash Then it came up in the normal search on YT here is the link if anyone wants to watch it ..I'm from the U.K and didnt know about this crash (as i was born in June of that year) i had OBV heard of the one in the andies that was turned into a film and the other one that wiped out nearly the full soccer (its called football here in the uk but soccer in the U.S) team from brazil and of course the crash that took most of the lives of manchester united (again made into a film) and other crashes but only just learned this year of the WSU one....may those that lost thier lives rest in peace and allways be remembered! czcams.com/video/6f9zfzROMBo/video.html
Incredibly amazing and heart wrenching all at the same time! My wife and I did not know about this and we are from Topeka. It is wonderful that you still honor those who were lost on that plane. As long as we honor the memories of these exceptionally gifted Kansans, their souls will protect and guide us. I bet more than anything that they will be there to collect you when your time finally comes. Stay strong and we are glad you made it!
I'm a survivor of the Lynyrd Skynyrd Band plane crash, I recently contacted Rick and asked if I could call. We had a good conversation in general. This video has sparked my desire to give back, maybe pay it forward.
Plane crashes are absolutely brutal, that being said.
Life Moves On.
I think I saw your mask on a tree if you left it there! Tied around a trunk
These people are beautiful humans !!! My eyes are tearing.sending love from nj
"we move on as we must - not as we wish" gd that really hits.
I hiked up to the crash site with my wife and another couple in 2020. Brutal steep hike at very high altitude. We are in our 60s. I've never seen a crash site before and never want to see another. The pilot/owner in command was a self absorbed 'cowboy' type idiot, based on what I've read about this crash. RIP to all involved.
Absolutely tragic!
That’s horrible I don’t know what cowboy has to do with this at all but yeah
A very nice produced video and speaks the truth.
You guys are awesome and everyone who supported this event are amazing
Prayers out to the lives that were loss that year.
All these men are within 5 years of my own age. I remember that Oct 2 very well. It was a Friday and I was watching after school programming on TV when the word got out at maybe 4:30-5:00 pm. Even though I was maybe 15 I knew the enormity of this tragedy. The schools football program never recovered, even after 50 some years. RIP Shockers.
So much about that day that just doesn't add up. Bless all the families devastated by this horrific tragedy.
I will never forget....💗
Thanks brother
Unbelievable and sad to this day. RIP!
A first class individual.
50 years is a long time to be fixated a grief. Honestly, that's no way to live, and it's sure no way to honor those who perished. Those people wouldn't want their loved ones to suffer for 50 years, not if they truly loved them.
Any decent human being who dies who *never* want the people they care about to mourn for 50 years. They'd want their loved ones to grieve for a while and then move on and remember the good times.
When you have a jetliner strapped to your butt, it is a given that the pilot/co-pilot will adhere to the flight path. Shame on them.
It wasn't a jetliner. It was a Martin 404 powered by two 2500hp radial engines driving propellers. It was a beautiful clear sunny October day in 1970 and the visibility was excellent. The owner of the charter service was the first officer on the flight and told the players he was going to take them on the "scenic route" over the Rockies. Unfortunately, he wasn't familiar with the route and didn't reckon on the ground rising faster than their loaded airplane could climb. They flew into a valley and didn't have enough room to turn around safely, but while attempting to do just that the airplane stalled and the left wingtip caught the trees. The second plane observed the correct route, heading north from Denver into southern Wyoming before turning west and safely clearing the Rocky Mountains. It arrived safely in Utah.
there are plenty of good reasons for deviating from a flight plan. They are routinely altered and even re-filed while in flight,. Let the adults weigh in about this stuff.
@@mben-david2064 Well, this wasn't one of them. And did they re-file? Do you know the details? Clearly your age and knowledge hasn't made you very mature.
I CARE...
Check out Forrest Haggerty yt channel...he covers exactly how this happened.
not trying to be that guy, so, decades later NTSB still has not picked up the wreckage?. I understand that it is a grave site, what I would do is pick up everything and put crosses for every soul.
A lot of the wreckage was cleared after the accident, but the terrain is difficult and makes a complete cleanup a challenge. This is common to many aircraft wreck sites in the high country of North America.
The NTSB is not in charge of wreckage disposal. They take what is essential to their investigation and leave. Like any crime scene, a plane crash wreckage is left to whomever property owners can afford to tidy it up. The property owner here is likely the state or federal governments. They have little motivation to do much since the property is so remote. Further...Ease up on the crosses, Sparky. I'll bet some of the poor folk on that plane were not interested in Christianity and their memory is not served by your religious zealotry.
@@mben-david2064 Man you are a special kind of person Many were and why do assume he is a zealot. Maybe he was just saying some sort of memorial crosses, stars of davids etc. just trying to be nice or have a nice thought... Try it some time but it sounds like you struggle with that being all-knowing..
