8:20 He’s got great gear, he’s too focussed on a body combining all features from a vlogging perspective, but with high speed slowmotion AND a good telelens for birding etc. It is content, sure love the channel. However when he equates an XT4 with a ZF he’s off the scale, just wrong, just because “240 fps” slowmotion (while ignoring the AF).
This is one of my favorite channels, but it is more entertainment than information - and that is OK.
If he want’s that better Nikon, get the Z8, oh no that’s only 120fps… no better or worse than the XT4 😂

The perfect camera will be got but then will reset as soon as we begin to upgrade our PC infrastructure to 6k or 8k tech :( I guess we will get to like 8k240 in 20 years then it will be all about low light with multiple base ISOs in 40. And everyone will be upgrading to VR glasses by then when 16k might be useful lol NOT to mention VR360 3D cameras which will be the NEXT thing (they are like 20k USD rn or something but no one watches the videos yet so there's no return in buying them I imagine)

Same thoughts here as i watched the scooter footage.
I got recently my first e scooter, a basic 1000W rear motor type but top spec version with 1,2kWh battery (100km range advertised, i got about 50-70 out of it) and 12 hours charging time (a mess, from 0-100 not even over night)
But as good the scooter accelerates, as fast it goes (unlocked 60kmh, normally 18-35kmh depending on drive mode), cars are just desperate to get in front of me, on guy even honked at me and then failed to overtake me after the crossing (50kmh speed limit, i drove 50-55...), maybe they think its a 20kmh scooter?!
Not even a single week driving this scooter (i was already skateboarding, dirtbikes 250cc 2 stroke as well a fast e-dirtbike, e-longboarding,...) and i realised those scooters are for real death traps. The fact you are more or less on road compared to driving a skate or longboard more on regular walkways for example and people thinking its a slow toy scooter makes it so much worse than anything else i have driven so far.
Not even driving the dirtbikes "illegally" on roads was as dangerous, we were anyways faster than anybody else, MUCH faster. Thats why i abolutely hate those 20/22/25 kmh restrictions on small electric stuff for teens, its DANGEROUS, not protective except the teens dont use common sense. But something going 25kmh or slower should not be anywhere near cars and "big" vehicles in general, including regular bicycles to be honest.
I mean, the scooter has something to it, more enjoying and comfort for basic "from A to B" than lets say a longboard, its huge battery allows for the biggest range of all small electric stuff i have ever driven or owned, its suspension and bigger air tires make bumps etc really smooth, but in general its only nice in "cars not allowed" zones and dedicated bicycle ways/roads.
I can even drive with this thing with a good bicycle route my city to the next biggest city around me, thats like 22km one way i can do easily in about 30 minutes (car would be 15-20 minutes on the highway!), recharged via our own photovoltaic system, so "for free", its pretty amazing. This tour would cost with my Diesel car about 7€ fuel cost alone. And i have about 25-30% spare battery left after the whole 45-50km tour, amazing considering i got it very cheap 2nd hand.
Whats the most annoying thing i realised with this basic, average controller/LCD screen system... i was yesterday running low on battery (already going in eco mode 15kmh at best, little battery left). In a situation i needed slightly more power, well, i pushed it for a second harder. I triggered the low voltage protection and voila, no way to start the scooter from there and i had to walk with it for like 5 km home (reminder... its the heaviest model with 1,2kWh battery), luckily it has a motor "clutch" to disengage the motor for "foot engine" use but the fat offroad tires make it still hard.

I keep waiting for the day when I get to see Kasey’s cinematic living room on the big screen, with a sold out theater, people laughing, eating popcorn - and one of those people will be recording your living room movie with a Blackmagic 4k. (This will happen someday.)

Ive just changed my mind. I regret buying 6k full frame. It has identical image quality and possibility to manipulate the grade as the slog3 from the a7iv except it doesn’t have ibis and autofocus. If you bring the same white balance and exposure point using middle grey it gives exact image quality. I am the victim of the marketing of the raw and bm
I have to say, I respect you greatly for being able to admit this. Many are tricked into thinking they need RAW video or Apple ProRes etc. At one point I thought I needed it too. You do not need it for 99% of use cases. When exposure and white balance is close to correct in camera, a regular LongGOP codec will produce excellent results. I've been doing video since 2008. I've used Panasonic MFT since 2014. I see many people using RAW video but their exposure is wrong or they don't know how to grade the footage correctly. They'll own a RED but don't know how to use the HDR Wheels in Resolve correctly or make their own LOG to Rec709 corrective LUT using a DSC Labs ChromaMatch Pro color chart. They don't know how to expose with the Zone System developed by Ansel Adams almost 100 years ago. I don't even need a grey card or waveform monitor. Yes, larger sensor cameras will have a few extra stops of dynamic range, but that's nothing a clever and gentle threshold based glow can't smooth out highlights on. I do not use mist filters. I do not use VNDs ... I use only straight / fixed IR cut NDs for perfect results. Now I giggle at those using REDs and Arris while I get just as good if not better results with my 3 Panasonic GH5 II cameras ($1000 each, cheap) and my beautiful Panasonic Leica and Voigtlander MFT lenses I use. No one will listen to you. They are ignorant. You have arrived at the bottom of the rabbit hole. It is very lonely when you try to explain to people they don't need all that but they will never listen. Good job.

As for gear, I know the feeling, it is an addiction! The thrill of the hunt, then the acquiring, then buyer's remorse! We are the prime example of Pavlov's Dog experiment!
In guitar world we have a word for this desease: GAS. Which means: Guitar acquisition syndrome. As a guitar and camera hobbist, it's very interesting how similar both things are. There's always a fight between spending time looking for new gear vs speding time in the actual hobby.

I've honestly never had a "horrible" experience out of the multiple dozens of times buying all kinds of used gear locally in MTL. Only time a lens turned out to be broken, the seller apologized and paid for the repairs.
Most people are extremely nice and understanding, AND the prices are often unbeatable online, anywhere. We're pretty lucky!

You don't actually need to grade BRAW.
You can just set the correct color space in the project settings > Color Management
For example if you don't use HDR you can set the color science as Davinci YRGB Color managed then Input color space as rec 709 Gamma 2.4, Timeline color space as Davinci WG/Intermediate, HDR 1000 then Output Color space as Rec.2020 Gamma 2.4. The rest as default.
This will decode the BRAW with the correct Black magic colors without Lut's or grading (Lut's are useless by the way). And the color will also be applyed in the timeline.
You can also play with the different output to see what you prefer (Black Magic Color Gen 5 is great).
It will give you almost perfect colors with no grading (A lot of saved time).
You just have to refine if you want a different image
Provided you have the correct W/B.
You could almost do all of the "Grading" with W/B and saturation only.
This apply to the BMPCC4K as i do not have the OG.

Undoubtedly, Gear Acquisition Syndrome is a prevalent issue. However, I believe it's more accurately described as Gear Acquisition Disorder (GAD). In fact, I am actively advocating for its inclusion in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM). Imagine the benefits of acknowledging GAD as a legitimate condition: we could attend rehabilitation programs, undergo detoxification, and even receive appropriate medication!
I've come to accept that gear itself can be a hobby and it became one of mine whether I want it or not lol. Hey, people have worse obsessions.
Idk, first step is admit you have a problem and all lol. It's compulsive behavior that once you accept it's who you are, you learn to live with it and adapt.
The key is to do like Kasey, buy used gear you can always resell close to what you paid for it. It helps pacing yourself, because once you decide you want something, it can take months until you find a killer deal on it. It's less risky because you can always resell and trade stuff.
We can't do what he's doing though, which is try every brand lol.
I stick with a single system and plan ahead sometimes years in advance what I want my kit to look like. It helps talk myself down on stuff I don't need. Recently I talked myself down on getting an R8+200-800, I was proud.
Honestly his channel does help scratch the itch and realize how much everything has its flaws, and past a certain point, the gear doesn't make you a better artist.

When buying into the Fuji crop ecosystem I had the feeling that I was just giving up everything I professionally stood for and I was totally fine with it. Having a system that I can experiment with has been one of the most fun things I could do. I’m not ever gonna get a crop camera ever again though.

Good to see you using a Nikon z30 for this video. I had some interest in the Blackmagic system but I don't own any full frame Canon lenses at the moment. Mostly Nikon. I also own Nikon Z30 and Z5. I find the Z5 is slightly crisper for indoor video with much less noise due to full frame sensor and I am very happy with it. For selfie content-creator videos I would put the Z5 on a tripod and use a 5-inch hdmi monitor rotated forward. The Z30 has its place though for small walkaround camera and can be used indoors as a popular low cost creators camera compared to FF.

Love my 3 pocket 4k’s! Selling one though because I moved up to the studio camera 4k G 2’s. I wouldn’t, but I don’t need three pockets for my situation after getting 3 new studio cams. (No I won’t send the link or ship)
I spent 5 months researching on about updating my Fuji Xt2 into an XH2s or my canon 6Dii into an R5c. Ended up buying a used Fuji xh2 to save up money, and aside of work I haven’t done anything really creative with it.

I recently replaced my Fujifilm pile of bodies and 13 lenses with a Sony A7 iv and 3 Tamron zooms. It's been absolutely liberating when I leave the house with camera gear, my only question is, do I want the wildlife telephoto. There is something magical about simplifying your setup while getting to experience a new system.

You were never happy with that deal. I am glad you resolved it. And speaking of Resolve, almost everyone buys the camera and keeps the Studio license if they sell it. You won’t find that on the used market. It is not a great vlogging camera, your bread and butter. I like mine, not much interest in vlogging. Great bang for the buck. “An OG love here too.” Also can have a bad case of GAS, gear acquisition syndrome. Lots of projects, by a lot of people, in many forms with some variation of the 4k sensor package going on. Maybe later for you.

its strange, but every time you showed footage from the black magic 4k it just looked so unsharp. did it just never manage to focus or what was the deal? it did look bad every time, and not because of color grading i think. it just felt blurry and grainy or something like that. glad to hear you managed to return it

It's great in fact because you bring a lot of laughs (and good advice) into a lot of peoples lives. And - you have a successful CZcams channel. You are "getting by" quite nicely.
A new angle might be "the throne" - a camera and a couple lenses - like you said, A7S3 and a couple Zeiss lenses - while you bring on challengers in an attempt to de-throne. And also in a couple price ranges. Z30 and a couple lenses as the budget choice for example.
You are effectively doing that anyway, just not really defining it in so many words.
But yeah - good insight about gear obsession. Good, boring advice. :)

Stick with your Sony A7-III. You get tons of lenses! And the DJI for street vlogging.All the others can be just for fun!

Thinking is severely overrated I just use Facebook marketplace like a hire service. Basically I purchase something that looks really cool and then all of a sudden realise I probably don't need it or it's no good so I just resell it and if you get bargains you can actually purchase lenses cameras and a whole bunch of stuff and actually make money out of reselling it. I've done this so many times where I get a bargain and then I don't really want it or don't use it so I resell it and I get more for it. Then I paid for it. Great way to upscale

You live and you learn. Most people don't understand the amount of work that is required to shoot "beautiful" footage with cinema cameras like the BMPCC4K. The same people complain how little control the Sony's and Canon's give you. You can't have it both ways. I love my S1H for the lack of usable AF. That camera forced me to learn how to use manual focus and to my benefit I must add.
I poke fun of the MF folks all the time, but it comes from a place of respect lol, since I could never myself. Well said.
You should try the canon ef 100mm T2.0 for canon. Its a magical lens @T2.0

I got the *(Zetic USB C to HDMI Adapter 8K, Type C to HDMI Adapter (Thunderbolt 3/4 Compatible))* on Monday, but of course the Galaxy Ultra has no lens right, so then I got the *(5K 3.0X HD 85mm Telephoto Zoom Lens 3x Multi-layer Coating No Distortion Mobile Camera Lens Portrait Lens for Smartphone Huawei)*
To get mother Russia 4k you need the experimental settings on Korean Dax. Obviously nothing came in for my Lumix G9 or my rk3588 T6. Their was a fire alarm and the mailroom is closed for large packages.

The issue is that the focus is huntin/pumpin.
What should i do?

I tried 1.6, 1.8.
I tried setting the autofocus from sensetive to normal and from fast to normal in both combinations.
Is it simply a sigma issue since the a6400 is known for very good focus?
Should i get a sony lens?

Imagine if camera companies stopped making APS-C and M4/3, and only produced full frame. Economy of scale would kick in, and everyone could have FF for M4/3 prices.
I have a love / hate relationship with my BMPC 4K I have the version that does NOT have the built iin filters nor does it auto focus while running . Best videos ever but running the camera sux, it lacks some features requires expensive "C" cards and I built a high end computer to deal with the raw mode. Davinci Resolve requires a high end video card and ram. So 12 gig vram GForce and 128 gig of ram with a rizen 7 chip to run it. I have no business running this setup being the amature weekend warrior . It's a Studio cam and not a run and gun cam. I'm going to sell it back to B&H photo and get rid of it.

man I love camera gear, swapped systems and cameras just over 100 times in the last 3 years alone , i love comparing your videos with my own findings with different systems, that black magic 4k if fine though it needs so much work to get things looking good that it never appealed to me , oddly the hdmi on my unit was messing around with my external recorder which is why i returned mine, the perfect camera is somewhere, just not where we think it is
I'm gonna buy a D780 and vlog with F mount glass just to spite Nikon for not making an FTZ adapter with a focus motor in it.
I like my kit, it's changed over the yrs. I may go full frame this yr but I have a problem. The problem is my quest for the perfect kayak; I have 7 of them now and nowhere to park my car. Anyone wanna trade a sony full frame for a sea kayak?
As my understanding deepened, I gradually realized a cruel truth. The camera doesn't matter, not even the lens. The user's personal abilities are much more important than the quality of the photography equipment.The failure to take good pictures is mainly my own fault.
There's a company called Octopus Cinema making their own Super16 cinema cam with a raspberry pi. I've been following them for a while. I think that might be something to keep track of, I'm super excited to find out more. Hopefully it'll be as magical as the Black Magic Pocket Cinema camera. Hopefully we find out more, too. I'm gonna try and get that ASAP whenever it comes out.

I know you've often looked askance at SIGMA gear, but have you considered the SIGMA fp? Full-frame, 4k, CinemaDNG raw, pocketable, and some have even called it cute. And, all those SIGMA lenses you've half-dissed in the past will no longer be third-party things, having found their mate with a proper SIGMA camera.

Yes, i want to be a rich guy buying all the camera in the market but in reality i just can only afford one or two more of a good enough and budget camera with the set of lens.
That's why i was looking for a perfect enough to "Do it all" camera in the "Budget category" which is impossible. Unless you're MarkusPix then anything can be "Do it all" camera.
This is why I almost never buy used… too much hassle.
The stuttering focus made that camera a non-starter.
