Ive been fishing the belreak wall Long Beach during the mornings doing ok fishing live sardine and swimbaits. Im gonna start spending more time throwing crankbaits always say i am but I don't.

In the first setup, is there a reason why the leader (40lb) is stronger than the main line (30lb)?
It’s because your leader is more likely to rub against rocks and become compromised.
30#, considered to be on the lighter side, allows the crank to dive to true depth. The 40# leader is for abrasion resistance. Fishing around any big quarry rock you wanna fish heavy leader
