I'll be honest spotties are just aggressive as hell. I have caught one with a jig minnow just hanging under my kayak. It was literally just hanging by a dock piling. And smash.

Are you using mono for the stretch or just letting the rod absorb the impact of the bite on the crankbait setup?

I use spectra. The longer rod is a great shock absorber
