Hi Jessica, for the handyman issue I recommend using thumbtack, task rabbit or handy. I found one a person that I can contact on a regular basis.
A blog with “how to” content is a great idea. You can use lead magnets to get clients.

I have tried thumbtack and I did find some an awesome handyman but unfortunately he resides in WI. Will try those other sites and great blog idea!

Can you do a video on creating FF&E schedules, and budget trackers? Also do you use adjacency matrix or bubble diagrams when working on projects?

You know I don't find myself using the adjacency matrix as much because I am not designing homes from scratch right now. But I will say it is useful for larger scale projects or commercial renovations. Great video idea though! I will need to touch up on FF&E schedules/budgets.

Wow this is so exciting, and I'm so happy for you and making these moves, it is so inspiring! I mentioned before I enrolled in an interior design certificate online through Parsons school of design, and so far I am really loving it! The first class is basic space planning, and my teacher is really dope and i feel so lucky being able to connect with her, being a prolific interior designer. I am also starting to do things like drawing a room layout in pencil, and using the architect ruler to convert measurements. I can't wait to start learning SketchUp and AutoCAD and all that but that will be later in the year. I can't wait to actually be working in the field! Question, do you still do hand drawn renderings for projects? Thank you and all the best to you!

That is all so amazing and I am so happy that you are loving it! Just wait til you learn AutoCAD and sketchup, it's going to be so satisfying and you'll love it even more. =)
To answer you question, I don't hand draw renderings for my projects. I do it all through a software. There's no right or wrong way to do renderings, some people are skilled at hand drawing and some are better with the tech side of things.

@@SandraJessicaChavez Thank you! Yes it’s a lot of hand drawing right now, and I am so used to working in illustrator and photoshop, with a stylus and Wacom tablet. So it’s a little tedious but I’m sure getting back to basics will benefit me in the long run. We are reading a few books and the more I read the more I feel like I’m going in the right direction because with textile cad I’m doing similar things, such as drawing flat sketches of apparel. But with interiors it is a lot more detailed so it’s like next level for me. I see how my prior skills translates. It feels like a logical progression! Anyway thanks again looking forward to your next video!

If you don't mind me asking, since you mention material bank, I'm wondering how you or other designers prefer having things sent to them? I'm an illustrator hoping to expand in wallcovering or textile design work and wanting to market my service to Interior Designers?

That's awesome! I like to have samples be delivered through mail or sometime I pick it up from the vendor if they are close by. Would love to see your work once you get started!

@@SandraJessicaChavez thanks for your reply! I was thinking email wouldn't be good and to try and invest in sending out mailers. Really, thanks for letting me know :)

I actually made a video about that! It’s the “How I became an interior designer” video and towards the end I give out tips!
