It's absolutely criminal that this masterpiece sits in obscurity with only 2600 views. It is a significantly more powerful jazz interpretation than either of the better known pieces by Miles Davis and Jim Hall respectively. Certainly the most widely known and played classical work from Spain, it only became known after his death that the sadness of the adagio reflected Rodrigo's grief at the stillbirth of what would have been his only son. That sadness and pain are brought to an emotional climax by Bud Shank's brilliant saxophone work. The saxophone is perhaps the most emotionally expressive of all instruments, particularly in the hands of a master like Shank. I have heard many versions of this adagio - both as originally written for guitar and orchestra, and the version for trumpet - and IMHO this is the finest version of this piece ever recorded.

I have to agree. I have to start again and take notes unless some has already done this. I think I have listened to at least 6 'versions.
