She fought in the war pretty much as a full blown combatant from its start to its end, retaking Harrenhal after Criston Cole began to retreat, she took in and fought with Rodrick Dustin and the Winter Wolves, rallied both House Frey and her blood kin, House Vyper and joined one of the Black dragon seeds, Addam of Hull, for the showdown at Second Tumbleton and joined the Lads (The young sons of old Tully (20?) and the 13 year old Benjicot Blackwood) on their march to Kings Landing at the end.

Meanwhile House Lannister offered them payment... I feel that was the key especially reviewing season 1 thus Frey did not technically betray, he was betrayed by the Starks.
With Jace it might be different given that he is a dashing dragon rider and appears to look like a great warrior even if he is untested and rather young... so at least they did not try to force him into some marriage pact.

It's absolutely not true House Tully is less powerful than its other subjects. What the fuck did they say??? Tullys are easily on the same league of Arryn of the Vale or Tyrells (second only to Stark/Lannisters/Baratheons).
House Tully since the Targaryen conquest has always played a crucial role in balancing the Seven Kingdoms. One of the strongest castles, crucial location, huge army, richer than the Vale and the North, with a lot of powerful banners, great politicians, great soldiers. Lord Hoster Tully, proven to be as smart as Tywin, has been able even to extend his influence until the Vale and the north through powerful marriage alliances with the heir of Houses Stark and Arryn.
The problem is about the riverlands which is the most difficult kingdom in Westeros to rule over.
And only the fact Tullys managed to keep being the lords paramount of the riverlands says a lot.

Because the story is nowhere near as engaging. This show is based on plain historical chronicles about the civil war, white GoT was based on novels with characters and plots hence why it felt more ‘alive’

To you it might feel that way but it certainly does not to me. The cast is certainly smaller and the story is more straightforward: it's about a Targaryen civil war, that's it.

@@Regenmacher175that’s the problem in my opinion. There’s no story here, it feels more like a streamline of events and representation of people involved in these events. GoT, at its best, was built around the characters and their stories.

@@baronmunchausen645 I think both shows are excellent examples of character-based storytelling. The only difference is GOT had a larger world to present to the audience and a larger cast of characters. The Dance of the Dragons is a civil war as a result of which the Targaryens will be in decline.
