"Eurovision is Disneyland for technicians" as a theatre technician in London's West End I completely agree. Yes there is a place for the sweet low tech ballad that won this year, but you've got to have the spectacular stuff as well.

I think the portuguese broadcaster RTP will quit the backgrounds and pyrotechnics for next year's Eurovision! Because Salvador said, that "music is not fireworks, music is feeling". I bet, that the official motto of the #ESC2018 will be "REAL MUSIC", lol! 😂😂😂
For me fireworks destroy more than they help pushing a song. I have so many examples this year, staging and fireworks often were so ridiculous and over the top. If Denmarks Anja is already screaming at me I understand the message, the fire-rain is too much, or the Austrian guy sitting on a moon, the Swedish guy with the fitness centre equipment, honestly.....

Pyrotechnics are something to support the song , a song should show off by itself , not rely on fireworks or staging. That is what Salvador was meaning, why do some people find it so hard to understand?

F*ck the words of Salvador, I think that a winner shouldn't speak like that to other entries, everyone has their own music taste and just because you have one dosen't mean it's the best one, it was like he was attacking all the artist and said that like he was better than others just because he won, because trust me there was a
Whole bunch more songs that standed out more and that had better performances and that had better songs, like Sweden, BULGARIA, Belgium, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Estonia *and many more.*
Everybody know that he won because of his tragic story about his disability and heart issues, just like last year.
The song didn't win, the tragic story behind it won.
And then they were trying to act like Salvador was dying or something in hospital in the rehersals time and many newspapers wrote about that which gained him more votes, and then from all sudden he just came like that and looked like nothing had happend
"Celebrate Diversity" has never been only about song genres - it's about us people in general.
Like Polearm I also think 'Amar Pelos Dois' is a deserved winner. However, to win such a contest as esc it is never enough to have a good song and a talented singer. That is why the background story with health problems and the fact that Portugal has never won esc in 53 years played their roles in Salvador's victory. To sum up, some people use pyros, some use publicity to win.
It doesn't need pyro, and what proves it, it's that he won.
