    So glad I found this video. I started modeling @ 45 during COVID and as a stress reliever. No cars, yet. Mainly planes and Bandai Star Wars kits. I didn’t want to buy a hobby compressor, so I repurposed my Dewalt double cylinder compressor with a separate 0 -30 PSI regulator. Despite never having a problem, I always thought I was wrong for doing it that way.

    I just finished watch your video. Thank You for all of the info. You talk about carpet fibers. I was spraying my model outside after taking a tack cloth to it. Later while inspecting the model I found and eyelash stuck to the trunk of the car, OUTSIDE! Darn Murphy! LOL!

    Lost everything in a House fire 15 years ago, just getting back into the hobby with what kits I could save plus new purchases as I miss it so much. Just purchased your Video set today as I really wanted a good refresher plus to learn new things as I do every time I watch one of your Videos. Keep up the great work and I can hardly wait to start watching those videos when they arrive. Thanks for all you do for the hobby and the people who love it so much. As you probably hear all too often "Thanks Old Man!" ;)

    For reducing paint bleed under the edge of masking tape, I spray a couple of light coats of clear along the edge of the tape. Once it dries, it pretty well seals the edge of the tape.

    First-time viewer on your channel, and I greatly appreciate how thorough you are. A Google doc and everything. You're starting people off right. Too many folks on the internet are encouraging shortcuts for the basic needs, and it sets people down the wrong path. Get the right stuff the first time..And listen to the guys and gals who've been doing this for years! Why waste time and money on crap that will just leave you frustrated? Looking forward to your other videos. No matter how experienced someone is, you can always learn from other folks. I am pretty far away from home these days out here in Japan, but I'm lucky that there are hobby shops around every corner. People here love their hobby shops, let me tell you. It's like heaven. So I'm super excited to get back into the hobby. Take care, I'll see you around on here!

    Hey old man, just went to the link below and I didn't see where I can get the number one most important tool, the DVD!!! I really appreciate your willingness to share your knowledge and I would like to get things right. I share the same opinion, right tools make for a better job and results. I have no problem spending the money it takes to get the great results. Again thank you for your time.

    Question: I am just about 60 now, and re-found the passion I had for models back when I was younger.
    Love your videos by the way. I am subscribed and so glad that now this information is readily available now, and we don't need to peruse magazines.
    This is the question. My first foray back into this is a 67 GTO. I didn't like a recommendation in the instructions and painted part of the chrome bumper (the inside) black. Yet now I changed my mind and want it chrome again.
    How do I remove the paint without damaging the chrome underneath?
    Thanks 👍!

    I watch anything I can find that you do,I like the way you come across and you have great morals.I have done many other hobbies and left do to drama and the lack of morals by others in those hobbies.I'm a late bloomer in modeling,I'm 56 and have a lot of work to catch up,I'm disabled and have a hard time doing anything but I do have the use of my hands for the most part so all that is left for me is to dive in.I have your first DVD and going to get the second one soon.Thanks for all the work you do to make the hobby more enjoyable and understandable the hobby needs many more like you..

    Geez....I feel like I'm way behind. Lol. I'm taking my hobby up a level...which is 1/24 scale digital slot cars. I want to get more into building me some custom cars nobody else has. I really appreciate your tips Donn. The level of detail you do is what I want to learn....and it seems reasonable in price for the equipment and DVDs. Plus...I will have something to be proud of at the end of it. Im 48 at the time I write this....and I believe ramping up my hobby to this level is perfect to refresh something I been doing for years. Looking forward to watching your channel over the holidays and hopefully find that link to get your DVDs. God bless Donn. Stay cool brother.

    let me say that I'm a huge fan of you...not just your work, but the way you carry yourself. Do you think a Badger 350 (external mix single action) would be on par with the Paasche H? I've read some other who suggest it would be....thoughts?

    • @ScaleModelTechniques
      @ScaleModelTechniques  Před 7 lety

      +lgmnow kondo I honestly can't say my friend ... I have a Badger 150 dual action . They do make a quality product , I prefer the Paache H , only because I cut my teeth on it , so to speak . However , I can say that others have said that once they started with the Paache , their Badger gathered dust after that . Personal preference will always rule the day . The H always does the job for me .....

    • @lgmnowkondo938
      @lgmnowkondo938 Před 7 lety

      I hope you get a deal with Paasche...I can't imagine how many model H's have been sold by your endorsement. Chalk up another one!
      Just want to mention, I don't at all argue with your right to charge for the channel as you are clearly laying out a lot of dough for your supplies, time, etc...but just maybe you could offset the cost by getting Paasche, Testors, Tamiya, Revell...etc to pay you as sponsors. Or offer deals to members, etc. Perhaps they already are...but, if not, you are bringing them a lot of good business and a very real testimonial on their products. I can see a box set of your dvd's WITH a paasche model H and some testors enamels being sold on amazon...at a nice price! I have lots of ideas of how you could monetize your talents and perhaps lower the cost of subscription...could be a win, win, win for everyone! As it is now I'm sure it will still be a success with lots of great content...it's always great to learn from the masters in any field! Thanks for your reply Donn!

    It's too bad you can't sell the talent that helped put you at the top of the game. But you can share the know-how, and this is how it's done. Hell, you should have seen my student loans - money spent acquiring the education I needed to make a decent living. Money well spent.
