In this video we teach you how to install a C by GE smart light switch. The C by GE smart light switch allows you to remotely control the light switch from your phone. The C by GE smart light switches connect directly to your wifi network and allow you to control them from the C by GE smart app available on both iOS and Android. There are both C by GE on/off smart light switches and smart dimmer switches available in the C by GE lineup.
What makes the C by GE light switch unique is that it doesn't require a neutral wire for installation. Because the C by GE light switch does not require a neutral wire it makes it easier to install and it is compatible with the existing wiring in more homes than many other types of smart light switches that require a neutral wire. I have 3 switches one for 2 outdoor lights and one for an inside light in my shop. Will 3 of these fit in a triple switch box?
Our church has a electric baseboard heater is controlled by an on/off line wall thermostat which is in series with the coil side (less than 1 amp) of an electrical contactor supplying line voltage to the heater. Can I use this product to program the baseboard heater? What is the Max amp for this product?

I know Lutron makes a dimmer, but are there any other brands that you may know of? Also, all of my light fixtures are GU24, so that bulb adapter won't work.

The bulb adapter isn't always needed, in my case I didn't need to use it. But as far as other options go these are them- 1. Lutron Caseta: amzn.to/2VKDCxZ which works with the largest variety of fixtures, 2. C by GE Dimmers: amzn.to/3otQC7l and 3. GE Z wave dimmers: amzn.to/3giGH1x but these require a z wave hub. 4. Innovelli Z Wave Switch: amzn.to/3lMgh9D of these options Lutron has the longest track record for smart switches that work without a neutral.

What if the switch control multiple bulbs? Do you need to get multiple adapters
If a single switch currently controls all of the bulbs, a single smart switch is all that is needed. Except for 3 way setups (one light or set of lights controlled by 2 or more switches) it a a one to one relationship. One manual switch is replaced by one smart switch. That being said, the smart switch offers an advantage over the simple automation and remote control of lights, an advantage which can be overlooked as you make the decision to "go smart". With smart switches, you can "group" switches (and therefore the lights or other devices controlled by those switches). When a switch is a member of a group, the status (or or off) of that switch can be altered, along with the status of all other switches in the same group, by a single action. For example, you could group all switches controlling outside lights into a single group. You can then control all of those lights with a single command. All of the smart programs I have seen will bring all switches in a specific group into sink with each other when a command is issued for the group. In other words, if in the group "Outdoor Lights" some lights are currently on and some are currently off, issuing the ON command to the group will result in turning all the lights in that group ON.

@Rylee Brown This answer is a joke, RIGHT?? "Gets rid of any electricity the device does not need". The ground wire, according to code, must NOT be a current carrying conductor under normal circumstances. Its presence is entirely for safety. It is intended to bond (connect together) all conductive housings of devices connected to the electric grid. In the event such a housing were to come into contact with a "hot" conductor (such as an internal short in the device), the ground wire provides a path to ground for that short. This IMMEDIATELY trips the breaker for that circuit, thereby protecting human life. If any manufacturer were to design a device that in ANY WAY utilizes the ground in normal operation, that device COULD NOT gain the approval of UL, CE or any other approval agency any where in the world.
@@895isp that does not seem to answer the original question. Yes or no. I understand most of what you said but is not connecting the ground (if there isn’t the option to) such a risk that you shouldn’t? Or is it safe enough that you can connect it without a ground?

They also make wireless versions however this device is better for use with existed lights you want to keep with the original bulb unless you want smart bulbs too however then this such device is useless. However dimming is another thing I'm trying to figure out myself! Strange.
It’s my understanding that switches with neutral wires use the neutral wire to power the switch, how does this switch maintain power? Does it use more power since it does not have a neutral wire?
The neutral doesn't carry power so I dont know how this statement could be true. It does have trickle current enough to keep timers and the zwave / wifi or or other enabled.
yes, it basically never really turns off just a low enough current to power wifi but not the light.

Certainly cannot think of any reason why not. A florescent light is, at its heart, a light with a small reactive (inductive) characteristic included. Unlike a motor, which can impose large reactive loads on a switch, the reactive load from a florescent light is quite small and unlikely to damage the switch. Damage to the circuitry of the switch caused by the large reactive loads is the primary reason for the cautions against using smart switches such as this on certain devices.

If you have you're ceiling fan wired up with separate control for your light and fan you should be able to install it as the dimmer for the light. If you have a ceiling fan with wireless/RF remote control Bond: amzn.to/2S35vms also offers a good solution if you want to be able to remotely control your fan and light from your phone.

This can be used for that light just like any light out there. You'll just wire it separately from the fan.
Oh no no ground wire. I’m assuming the box is grounded. Can I still install the switch if I just cap the ground wire

I figured it out. G.E loves ppl money . You have to buy the bulbs from g.e for it to work.
I had the same issue my lights were flickering and I tried it in both scenarios one in my kitchen with fluorescent light fixture and I was getting a flicker even when I tried changing bulbs to LED and I also tried to with out side lights which were flood light and I still received a flicker can anyone help or any recommendations ?

These switches are absolute junk! The comms are terrible. The switch is barely able to connect to the wifi network that is only 15' away. Once the C by GE skill is enabled in Alexa it will just drop the switch off my list of devices. Save your time and buy a zigby or zwave switch that connects directly to Alexa or your other smart home hub.
