In 1984 I delivered a stillborn girl at 39 weeks. No reason for death was documented. A stillborn child puts a hole in your heart that never goes away. You just learn to live with it. So sad. In my day, there were no photos, only her foot prints and a piece of hair. I could only hold my daughter for about one hour.
We lost my beautiful nephew when he was two years old. He was diagnosed with cancer at 14 months and went through 9 months of chemo therapy, radiation and surgeries which actually was successful in killing the cancer but less than a month after his full body MRI coming back clear the cancer came back in his brain and died three days later. So we were extremely blessed that we were all able to be with him after he passed but myself and my mother in law gave him his last bath and he was in the beginning stage of rigormortis and I think that’s when we all started feeling like we were getting to the stage that our time with him was coming to a close because his body was starting to decay. This was the absolute hardest thing I have ever had to do because we as a family had to convince my sister in law that we had to leave and we had to leave Zane at the hospital. She wanted to take him home. She wanted to take him to the morgue. We had to convince her that she should tuck him into the bed to sleep so she didn’t have to remember leaving him in the morgue or leave him in a state of decay and have those memories forever burned in her soul. These things are not talked about and because he died so unexpectedly after beating cancer there was no preparation or even thought about how they would want to proceed if Zane were to not make it. So yes be empathetic but also be open to talk about whatever it is the parents who have just lost a child want to talk about. Take your cues from them but be open to their feelings and concerns.
I'm so sad for your family and friends you lost a child in heaven gained a pure angel! Not that that makes the loss any easier on you because no child should predease their parents
My heart breaks for this couple and this sweet baby girl, whom I hope is resting peacefully. I hope this loving couple is blessed with their rainbow baby when they are ready ❤️
