I wonder if some folk healers still call unto Tagalog deities.
Precolonial Philippines have Mythology, too….Too bad it was wiped out by the Spaniards….The schools should teach these or make a Teleserye..
Can you do an Ancient Visayan Pantheon?
Bathala was the local evolution of the Hindu god Indra Bathara.
Thank you for this. Looking forward to more.
'Bahala na' actually translates to 'Whateva!'
This is crazy because like most of other religions there is the theme of after life, judgement of soul, heaven and hell. Why did we need Spanish civilization to basically come and spread their belief when we already had a similar belief story. Shit is just crazy. Everything basically roots to the same origin story.
Omg new Pre-colonial Filipino history!?
Bathala isn’t man, but both man and woman. Ikapati (Lakapati) is also a trans deity which you left out. This video is in the lens of Christianity and the West!
don't you think manggagaway, mangkukulam, and hukluban just sounds like witches of the west in three stages of power? hmmmm... the likeness is uncanny.
Do more of these please.... Sending love my friend.
Thank you for this. Didn’t learn this in school.
I've always been curious about our own mythology and now I know. Thanks and subscribed.
So looking forward to more of your video's. Salamat!
Nice video. Very informative. Thanks!
Bathala word po is from India. It is from Sanskrit word "Bhattara" or "Shiva" meaning Lord or God. Tulad rin po ng salitang Diwata, sa Sanskrit rin sa India galing na Devatā meaning Diyosa or Goddess in English.
