- Vitamin B is available in lot of animal sources, poultry, egg, meat, milk and milk products, fish. Its main sources are animal foods like if you are non-veg, you can increase Vitamin B 12 by eating non veg food every day. However for vegetarians, sources like milk products like curd, yoghurt, paneer, cheese are the sources. So you have to increase the quantity of these items. But for vegans, they cannot eat any of these foods. So they have only one option. So they have to have with fortified diet. However in India the fortification has not been common yet. So they have to depend on more supplements like. Supplements are 2 types like synthetic supplements like Vitamin B 12 injections or Vitamin B 12 tablets from the allopathic pharmacy or they can organic in nature and taken from the natural organic supplements and within a week you could be seen an increase in you Vitamin B 12. Whatever you choose, take with proper guidance and stay healthy.

I normally eat a lot of meat and yet my levels are lower... Probably because I'm getting older? I'm now 49 years old. I do have a lot of issues with acid reflux, so maybe my body isn't absorbing it properly as well. My doctor at the VA has now prescribed me supplements and I'm hoping that will work.

Sir what u said is right. To increase the absorption of b12 intestine must contain the friendly bacteria. So inorder to develop that have fermented starch water ( ganji) twice a day, morning and evening. This also reduces the buring issues of stomach and keeps the digestive track cool to its place.

Before 2000, nobody knows deficiency of B12. It increases after it. Vegetarian people also never took B12 tablets earlier nor fortified food.

@@udaykits1 They don't eat much package food, RO Water, Maida item like (Bread, pizza, Maggie, Pasta). Package food contains Emulsifier,. Acidity Regulator, Preservative it will reduce your metabolism over period of time. My uncle's (Mama's) son died due to heart blockage. My paternal side uncle's son also eating too much pizza. Doctor told him to stop all maida item, he has to live.
Just eat Desi vegetables, fruits and desi snacks that should not be packed. Or you can blindly follow your father, mother, grandparents advice. Eat our Desi snacks like Samosa, Dosa, Idli, Kachori but not packed one.
B12 is ONLY created by bacteria. The plants must be grown in natural soil that has real bacteria and NOT the chemical grown plants from depleted soil with no b12 producing bacteria. Chemical fertilizer has no b12 and kills bacteria. Animals like us do fine on vegan diets as long as we do not eat synthetically grown plants especially not hydroponic chemical grown. These are laboratory plants that are tested and have zero b12. Eating things that kill your gut bacteria prevent absorption of b12. Eating dead animal corpse will rot in your Bowles and provide b12 bacteria but eventually it destroys your insides ( colon cancer). Best to eat natural plants grown with fertilizer such as composted weeds vegetarian animal urine or vegetarian animal dung for bacteria to make b12 to be eaten by plants for you to eat for b12. I have been vegan 58 years since my birth. I do not take anything but plants to eat and no chemicals and I have no deficiency.
