Imagine something like this as the Bulgarian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest , I would certainly vote for it
Indeed. Something similar (i.e. a modern performance of a folk song) was actually our first breakthrough in Eurovision - we reached 4th place with Voda in 2007 (I think). I don't know why almost everything after that has been pretty generic, Western-style music with next to no folk elements (even if a few of those entries were quite successful as well).

Здравейте! Отговарям на английски, за да разберат и чужденците. :) This song is from the Shopsko (Sofia) region. Το Μαργούδι κι Αλεξανδρής sounds Thracian to me, as it can certainly be danced like a Thracian "Rychenitsa" in 7/8 , but I disclaim any authority on Greek folk music. :) A very similar Bulgarian folk song would be "Цъфнало бяло кокиче".
