Located about 100 Km from the city of Ahmedabad, in Gujarat this structure has a history of more than 1000 years! Built by Bhima I of the Chaulukya Dynasty, The Sun Temple was made in honour of the Sun God - Surya!
Travel with us as we journey through the 1000-year-old monument, and explore the complex of Sun Temple. Divided into 3 parts - The main sanctum, Assembly hall and the Surya Kund, this temple is most known for the massive and symmetrical step well.
We visited the Sun Temple in September 2021.

We understand the sentiment and we completely respect the monument, its history, sanctity and the culture.
The reason you are seeing us wearing our footwear is that the entire infrastructure around the temple is made and maintained in a way of a museum/monument rather than a temple today by the government.
Iski vajah se yahan pr humm jitne logo se mile aur dekha, koi footwear utaar kar visit nahi kr rahe the.
Aur jabb guide hume tour de rahe the tab bhi aisa footwear ka information convey nahi kiya tha humko. Aise circumstances ki vajah se humare dimaag main aisa khayal bhi nahi aata ki humm disrespect kar rhe hai ya sacred space ko desecrate kr rahe hai.

You can get a lot of buses going to Modhera from Ahmedabad. The bus stand is about 1 Km away from the Sun Temple in Modhera.
You can also drive your own vehicles
