  • I went to talk to the plastic surgeon to see what could be done about my loose skin following my weight loss after Gastric Bypass/RNY weight loss surgery. Is plastic surgery the right choice for me?

    i totally get nicole's journey. battled work stress, gained weight, little self-care time. Aspect Health helped me lots. personalized strategies for hectic work life. stress techniques, dietary adjustments worked wonders. shed weight, gained balance. her video insightful. plastic surgery not my path, self-acceptance key. appreciate her sharing.

    I’m glad you’re doing this. Most insurances will pay for it if your doctor works with you on it.

    Maybe get a second opinion. Seems like everything that was of concern to you was shot down. Celebrities and regular folks alike have gotten these procedures. There have to be ways to craft the results you want and also address the healing/appearance of scars.

      I didn’t notice your neck before you mentioned it or after. I think your neck only looks bad to you. Nobody else will notice it. Your face and smile are so pretty that’s where people focus, I’m sure. Save your money and go in another trip, in my opinion.

    My sister got her arms done. She doesn’t regret it at all and her scars aren’t noticeable. However, one of the scars bothers her (physically) to this day when she moves a certain way.

    This is great information. I am older than you, but have kind of the same opinions, thinking about needed recovery and what money could do in other areas it doesn't seem "worth' it. I wonder if they can do much more limited surgeries, just tucks here and there instead of large incisions and drains.

    I've been going to a bariatric center since October. I meet with the surgeon this week to set a date for my gastric bypass surgery. I've lost 40 lbs. by following the dietician guidelines and exercise. I've already noticed loose skin. It's going to be interesting to see how much more it progresses after the surgery and losing a lot more weight. I'm nearly 50, so any bounce back probably isn't going to happen. Thanks for the information and advice you have given. It's helpful!

    I appreciate your honesty as well as your doctor’s! I always thought plastic surgeons created new belly buttons as part of tummy tuck procedures. Maybe not?

    • @nicoleislosingit
      @nicoleislosingit  Před 5 měsíci

      That would make more sense! The doctor was talking about the belly button being pulled down and then got distracted when she saw my piercing - maybe she was going to talk about creating a new one but just got sidetracked?

      They usually cut around and once the skin is stretched over they will sewn on and open, so your bellybottom will never move.

    I don’t notice any problems with your neck area, but I’m sorry it bothers you. I want to thank you for you sharing. I binged many of your videos the last week leading up to my VSG surgery. Thanks to you I purchased the large heating pad and the table which were both so helpful. I’m using the table now to type this. Tomorrow is my 2 week post op.

    Thank you for your honesty. One question, why did you choose the weight loss surgery you chose?

    • @nicoleislosingit
      @nicoleislosingit  Před 5 měsíci +2

      Great question! My surgeon does three types of surgery - sleeve, RNY and lap band, although he is stopping the lap band because he doesn't feel it works very well and there are too many complications. So I had the option of the sleeve or RNY. I had really bad reflux pre-surgery, and I really didn't want that to worsen, which is can with the sleeve. I also did a lot of research and the long-term success rate with RNY is higher than that of the sleeve. I felt that RNY was my best chance for long-term success without exacerbating my GERD.

    I would consult a dermatologist or esthetician about your neck since it looks so slight.

    I’m not sure if this comment has been made so i apologize for the repeat. But have you looked into going to a Medical spa facility where they offer PDO threads? It’s a non surgical lift for looser skin around the face or neck! Worth considering ;)

    I think it's good she was honest and didn’t made it sounds easier.
    Don't think your neck is that bad. Have you tried neck massage? I do that twice a day when I do my skin routine anyway. Some we see can be aging and something we didn't notice that easy before all weightloss. Mine is better with massage, but little visible still. But I am also 55...
    Have also seen others built more muscles in arms. And that can take away some saggy skin on the upper arms. Your arms look like mine (I am soon 3,5 months Postop). And I don't think I will risk a surgery there, if it stay as it is.
    I can understand the belly. But if you can live with it and like you said... for those money you can probably travel a lot instead. It's totally how you feel. And if the skin don't have issues, so don't feel forced having a flat one, if you can live with it. I might do one, when I reached my goal and if I am approved. But I have already before my surgery problem and my hang is over whole bottom area. And no matter what I do, I got problem in periods. And that hurts! Medication don't help so much and discovered tee trea oil mixed with coconut oil help me heal faster those wounds.
    I hope you gonna get satisfied with whatever you choose to do or not. Cause it's your body!
    And I know from others that done those surgeries that it is very painful and take long time to heal. And you can't do much in the first weeks, so you will need someone help you all time.
    Wish you a great end of the year and stay safe and healthy ❤

      I’m going to have to look into neck massage - that sounds great! Do you just use your hands/fingers or do you use one of those quartz/jade tools?

    Hi it’s Chrys again. I want to say thank you I really like your post. I think you are doing a great job on your journey.
    But I have a thought and I’d like to share with you.
    You might have reached your goal weight.
    Your muscle mass might be those extra pounds. Then unfortunately the extra skin might be quite a few pounds too.
    If it is your muscle mass that is a good thing. I hope this helps you.

    At least the surgeon wasn’t quick to take your money regarding your neck, never heard of the belly button moving down as they usually move it back up and take the excess skin from below it so you end up with an upside down T scar
