So her songs will be different. Lucy will sing it her own way to improve the song. Sometimes one prefers the original maybe because of the music, but Lucy’s singing is always impeccable. However generally Lucy’s renditions are better than the originals. If you give them a repeat listen, you’ll see. 🙂

I gave this a "Like" only for Lucy's sake -- not for yours, young fellow. Learn more about Lucy Thomas, and you will hopefully realize that she is as genuine as genuine can be. There is nothing pretentious about her at all. She has been raised in a great family environment with values and strong beliefs. Her vocal beauty, inner beauty of heart, soul, character, personality, and humility, surpass even that of her extraordinary outward beauty. As to her standing still when she sings, she doesn't have to jump around, twerking, doing stupid stage gymnastics, stripping 90% of her clothes off, like some of the mainstream female singers. You know why?? Because, UNLIKE them, she actually has this thing going for her called "RAW, GOD-GIVEN TALENT"! Her voice and her elegant, graceful femininity define her -- something much of today's generation know ZILCH about, sad to say. As Mary Poppins would say, this exquisite and pure young lady is "practically perfect in every way" -- and that is hardly an exaggeration, as you may find out if you choose tro follow her life and work. Movin' on, for now..........................
Hi John, as I have replied to other negative comments like yours before, I have a full time job and dedicate 4 hours to filming and editing these videos, so don't really have enough time to do research so I really on people's comments for that. I do this for fun, entertainment purposes and there's an interesting feeling about listening to someone for the first time with no prior knowledge. I was merely giving my opinion on what I saw and heard, and this is a real reaction channel so I say exactly what I think while still being respectful to the artist as you can see I liked and Subscribed to her channel. I never claimed to be an expert or to pretend this is an educational video, it's just an opinion and even if it's wrong it's still valid. If you like my style of reactions feel free to stick around.

NO, Lucy is NATURALLY gorgeous and her voice has a wider range than displayed in this song, And she is still just 19, she turns 20 in two days (Feb 21, 2024).

George, in the opinion of her nearly one million subscribers Lucy's sixty to seventy covers are equal to, or in a lot of cases surpass the original versions, and i can assure you that her image is not false in any way, she is an absolute stunner in real life. she usually uses a black backdrop on her videos as it gives us the audience a real personal connection to her, in this instance she is using her lower range, but i can assure you that she can belt with the best out their,!!! check her out you will be in for the musical equivalent of winning the lottery.!!!

Yes, this is a music video and not a live performance, like most songs that you hear on the radio. The song and the video are produced by Cavendish Records, which is a small record company in the UK, near where Lucy lives. If you hear her speak at one of her live performances when she was a bit younger or in an interview, you will hear her English accent.

Well George, as you will have noticed, Lucy fans are fiercely defensive of her. Most of her solo videos have this simple head and shoulders format so that viewers are not distracted away from her singing. She sometimes features duets with her youngest sister, which are incredible; just listen to the harmonies. She sings live at all video recordings and you'll see the mic in many of them, tho there are vids where you'll hear the studio vocal, even tho she's singing on the video. I was disappointed that you didn't really comment on her as a singer tho. She performed in texas last year and has an upcoming concert in Japan and will be starring in a West End musical next year. Quite extraordinary for a girl of 19.

GTC - you seem to be conflicted about whether you are critiquing a video or an audio recording because you must surely be aware that all videos are pre recorded and worked on in post, to achieve what the label believes to be the best commercial result. Very few vocalists need no work done in post, but Lucy Thomas is one such artist. She would, as you have intimated, probably sound more pleasing to the ear without any post, but that is where we are with record companies today, and I don't see this position changing anytime soon!
As far as whether any cover is as good as, or better, than the original, this is, of course, a matter of personal opinion, but Lucy has recorded 60 plus covers over 5 years since the age of 14, in different genres, most of which are considered, certainly by her supporters, as better than the originals!
May I suggest that for you to be considered as a reactor worthy of being taken seriously you do, as has been suggested, some background research into the artist, particularly if new to you - and then introduce the artist and song you are reviewing, together with your reasons for doing the review. Anything less looks lazy and unprofessional!
Even though you have reacted to a Lucy Thomas video, which is the reason for my view, I will not give you a 'Like' until I can detect an improvement in your presentation style.

Hi Michael, thanks for your comment and suggestions. Here's the thing, I never claimed to be a professional analyst or anything like that. I'm simply a guy watching videos on CZcams and giving my honest opinion on what I thought of it, have been doing this for just 5 months and the support has been overwhelming. Of course not everyone is going to like my style, which is why they can go to other reactors with more experience or different opinions. I have a full time job in real estate so I do this as a hobby and still dedicate 4 hours daily to making and editing videos so I don't have much free time to do research since I have a life outside of this and do other activities. That's the reason I rely on peoples comments to give me background info and context on the artist, specially if it's a new one for me. Right now I just do this for fun, entertainment purposes only, I'm not a musician or an expert so I'm bound to make mistakes and get it wrong sometimes, which is still valid since it's just an opinion. Thankfully there are people who understand this logic and provide helpful comments. Welcome to the Channel!

I'm not judging, I'm simply stating my opinion as I have mentioned many times. You don't need qualifications to have a reaction channel on CZcams, I'm not pretending to be a judge on America's Got Talent. Aside from real estate I'm also a visual artist, that still doesn't have to do with anything. Anyone can react and watch a video while giving their opinion. Maybe you are taking CZcams a bit too seriously.
You are completely wrong Lucy is English from Northern England .Lucy has been singing since she was 7 ,She was given a recording contract at 14. She has released 5 Albums to date ,Lucy can sing any genre she has around 70 recordings on her channel "Lucy Thomas Music" Both Covers and originals she has covered most of the greats and made the songs her own To say the original is always better is rubbish and Lucy proves it every time. She is due to star in a new musical written for her by award winning song writer and owner of the record company Lucy is under. opening in London next year. She has a live concert in Manchester UK next month .A Concert in Tokyo in Sept. There is nothing plastic about Lucy she is extremely beautiful and has the most beautiful voice. I suggest that you listen to more of her songs The song is from Lucy latest Album beyond the video has only just been released the time period is Victorian as she is remembering the past. The original song is from the twilight saga which is about vampires who supposedly live for 1000 years hence the title 1000years.Read Chris Scott´s comments below.

@@GeorgeTheCloud Been following Lucy and her younger sister Martha for a couple of years and they restored my faith that people can still actually sing, less all the stage and vocal gymnastics we see today and frankly Lucy and Martha are 90% of what I listen to there are a few others that are worth my time but to see somebody, you tear into her and nit pic without knowing a damn thing about her is beyond belief and common manners, and it appears I am not alone as most of the responders also have an issue with you. We respect and appreciate your opinion - which is fine either way. 👍 Sting did a song a long time before with the same name but another song.
I prefer Lucy’s sweet and full voice to the original, demonstrating again Lucy is equal to all and any of the best singers. Remember 90% of the time songs are listened and not watched, so most focus should be on the singing.
George some constructive criticism - it’s a video! You can even see cutting away to actors and no band. 🤭 Lucy is actually singing so not lip syncing however the final vocal track (pre- recorded) will be overlaid into the video, as all singers do in videos. Just as Christina Perri did in her video. 😉 Give Lucy chance to do a live performance as it was only released 2 day ago!! 😏
George the original is always harder to replace because people have that as their beloved bench mark, and don’t like change. That doesn’t mean the originals are better, for example what about Whitney Houston songs. Better still check out Lucy Thomas singing ‘Run’.

As for the ‘video’ here it helps if you know a little about Lucy 19 who is English (British). The historic actors are to watch during the vocal intervals in the song. It’s was released on Valentine’s Day, with idea to give a romantic feel with the song. Lucy is also the star of a historical period musical due to open and this is possibly also a reference to that. Hey maybe they just had the customs to use so why not?
The production of the video is another well thought and produced video, it also has a period theme feel of Rosie the musical. Lucy is strongly emphasised overlaying the video blur background, which draws us directly into Lucy’s face and blue eyes, up close and personal. Virtually 3D Lucy. Focusing on Lucy portraying the song with warm expression.
With your calm and reflective opinion you must be British.

Lucy is remarkably calm, she is stunningly beautiful, her voice cannot be matched. She can belt out and her range of voice is amazing.

I understand your new to reaction videos and also have a full time job. A small piece of advice, try to spend about 5 to 10 minutes reading some background on the artist. It might get rid of some of the worst comments. As far as Lucy she started singing lessons when she was 7. She is from Wigan UK. She was on The Voice Kids in the UK in 2018. At 14 she was signed to a Cavendish records. She has done covers of Celine, Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand, and Aerosmith to name a few. She has released 5 CDs. The latest was December 2023. For her vocal range try "Bridge over troubled water" and "Pie Jesu". Both of which are on her latest CD "Beyond". Good Luck

Lucy Thomas is in my opinion one of the best female singers on the planet. I highly recommend that you either react to her covers of Barbra Streisand's "Evergreen" or Whitney Huston's "Run To You." Also check out her amazing duets with her 5 year younger sister Martha "The Prayer" or "Mary Did You Know?" I guarantee you'll realize just how beautiful Lucy's voice is. 😊👍

Well George, I'm guessing you probably weren't prepared for the onslaught of responses to your reaction. I don't often comment on reactions, but I just have to add my voice to the others below. I'm guessing this may end up being the worst opinion you ever deliver. And for the record, there was nothing constructive about your criticism... it's simply uninformed. You can't be constructive when your criticism is utterly uninformed. I'm a little embarrassed for you. You didn't club Lucy like a a baby seal in your commentary, but come on... the southern United States!? We're "correcting you, since you're wrong". She's English, from a town (Wigan) about midway between Liverpool and Manchester. You just listened to the most beautiful, versatile voice any of us is ever likely to hear, emanating from one of the most beautiful young woman alive, and your opinion was that she did OK for someone with a mediocre midrange voice and that she looked like overdone AI. I'm literally L-ing OL here. You were right... I'm glad I didn't miss your commentary. It wasn't legitimate, but it was honest, and I needed the chuckle.
Lucy doesn't oversell her performances. She's not competing with the original artist or anyone else who's covered the song. She's a cut above anyone else out there. She pays homage to the original in every cover she performs and then makes them her own, and in nearly, if not every instance makes them better.
I'd give you a short Lucy bio here, and a list of recommendations from among her 60+ videos, but I'm just too disappointed in YOUR performance thus far. Go do your homework. And don't skip over her duets with her sister, Martha. I'm just shaking my head here. I'm actually going to subscribe to your channel right now just to give you a chance to redeem yourself... to give you a chance to provide an educated, INFORMED opinion. I'll expect to see a string of a dozen or so Lucy Thomas reactions from you over the next month, with a couple of her duets with Martha in the mix. Otherwise, you'll lose at least one new subscription.

But I will comment on a few of your points: My opinion of her was that she's beautiful and has a good singing voice, just because I didn't say she's the best singer in the history of humanity and fall to my knees in amazement of the performance doesn't mean my review was negative. Maybe you are used to other reaction channels being over the top and and exaggerating for views, but not here. If you think she has the most beautiful, versatile voice we will ever hear then that's your opinion and it's valid, but it's not my opinion at the moment. You can be a Lucy super fan and comment your complete admiration for her but don't assume others will feel the same way. I'm glad you subscribed and I appreciate it, but I don't have to redeem myself to you or anyone since I stand by my reaction, and I don't have to follow orders from you expecting a dozen or so reactions over the next month as if you were paying me to do this or had any authority over what I do just because you subscribed. George, I'll give you credit that you are commenting on virtually everyone's comments here! Yes, everyone has an opinion, granted, but the opinion has to have some merit behind it! For example, someone can say the movie, "Pearl Harbor", is a great movie, but there is NOTHING to back this up! For someone who you stated is 'artificial', were you aware that Lucy's version of "Hallelujah" was chosen for a movie that came out in April of 2023 called, "On a Wing and a Prayer", starring Dennis Quaid? The vocal coach advisors chose Lucy's version over anyone else's version, including Pentatonix (who I do like tremendously), Jeff Buckley, KD Lang, and all of the other, so-called, 'heavy hitters' in this arena! She was invited to perform in Japan this upcoming September, which is an extremely high honor in itself! The Japanese people want the best of the best.......and Lucy is just that! You might have more subscribers if you ACTUALLY know and understand who you are commenting about; unfortunately, you failed miserably in your feeble attempt here.
I think what I said was that she looked artificial, almost AI generated, but I didn't say she was artificial herself or that her personality was like that at all. People mistook what I said to heart and I felt the backlash but that is in the past now. We can only move forward!

Honest, fair opinions often are met with hostility , that goes for all fan bases . I thought you got most things correct in your assessment of Lucy . more live performances are needed , she has recently performed her first professional live concert in Manchester England , the opening song is " somewhere " ( there's a place for us ) west side story , Lucy thomas in concert ,which has just recently been posted on CZcams .

Nothing AI about Lucy, what you see is what you get, whether she sings live or overlaid on video it sounds the same, she has a perfect, clear, open, pitch perfect voice that can't be beaten, no nasal high register, perfect dynamics and breath control and that is Lucy plain and simple. To hear her range listen to songs like 'all by myself'. Tye original often sounds better because it has an emotional connect, but try listening to Lucy then immediately listen to the original andnyou will realise how good she is.

@@GeorgeTheCloud The obvious similarities between the two are for starters, they are both very young and very pretty. They both have British mothers and they both are kind with very big hearts. They both have fiercely loyal fans as you found out. I have never seen two singers with such an adoring fan base. I could read their fan comments for hours. Those two really touch people. That and the fact they covered some of the same songs is about it.
As far as I know, Lucy doesn't play a musical instrument or write songs. Lucy has beautiful blue eyes and Emily has beautiful brown eyes. Emily is a good dancer but I have never seen Lucy dance. Lucy has a lot more live experience than Emily. Emily is about 3 years younger than Lucy. Lucy has a sister, Emily has 3 brothers. Thanks for asking George. I can tell that your channel is going to grow if you stick to it and I hope you do. Most of these reaction channels are from much older people so it is important to me that you are featuring Emily as you are. I feel a little sorry for you. Your lack of knowledge about this artist is obvious and in this case, ignorance is not bliss. Listen to the vocal talent on display here. This is an English born teenage vocalist trained professionally from the age of seven and she has sung in just about every genre you can name. You need to do your homework. You won’t get a like or subscribe from me until you lift your game a lot.
Hi Chris, Here's the thing, I never claimed to be a professional analyst or anything like that. I'm simply a guy watching videos on CZcams and giving my honest opinion on what I thought of it, have been doing this for just 5 months and the support has been overwhelming. Of course not everyone is going to like my style, which is why they can go to other reactors with more experience or different opinions. I have a full time job in real estate so I do this as a hobby and still dedicate 4 hours daily to making and editing videos so I don't have much free time to do research since I have a life outside of this and do other activities. That's the reason I rely on peoples comments to give me background info and context on the artist, specially if it's a new one for me. Hi George, welcome to the reaction world, and thanks for your honest reaction. I see from some of the comments that many don’t understand the concept of going into a reaction blind. I know that reactors prefer doing that in order to give an honest reaction. You want to hear something for the first time and know as little about the song or performers ahead of time. Unfortunately for you, you ran into Wilbur and his band of merry men who go around like thugs and beat up on anyone who doesn’t treat Lucy like a goddess. They have no filter. Most of your comments were accurate other than her being from the south. She has a lovely voice, but she has only one lane, and she stays in it. All of her videos sound the same. Her little sister has a much better voice, and will hopefully start her own channel. I suggest that if you’re going to do anything by Lucy again, make sure it’s a duet with her sister and you will see what I mean. By the way, Lucy uses auto tune, so that’s probably why you see her videos being lip-synced. I don’t believe her sister needs it. Again, welcome to the reaction world, I wish you much success.

I hear ya, not only do I prefer to go into the videos blind but also it's a time constraint thing, yes I can do some research before I watch but doing that video after video would be unfeasible for me. Haven't gotten many negative comment before, only 2 videos come to mind and this is the most prominent one. Not too worried about Wilbur, his comments are helping me with the algorithm, and nothing he can say will shake the foundation of this channel nor will it phase me in the slightest.

Hi George, it's Mick in the UK. Having just watched your reaction to A Thousand Years by Lucy Thomas, I can't believe how Lucy's fans tore into you in the comments section? Lucy is a very good singer (from the UK) and doesn't deserve fans like that. But in my humble opinion, she is pure, too pure and clinical for my liking. I suggest you react to the same song by Emily Linge (pronounced LING-EH) who was thirteen at the time. Emily has a beautiful voice with a natural vibrato. She has an edge, but not too much of an edge, with a near four octave range. Emily always records her songs live, as you see it, in her own home studio. No lip synching. No professional recording studio enhancements, and no session musicians. Emily has the clearest voice ever and plays her own instruments. She was born and raised in Dubai with an English mother and Norwegian father. Emily is sixteen now and has recorded a phenomenal 176 songs in just over four years. I guarantee you that her fans wont treat you the same way as Lucy's. Other reactors have had the same treatment from Lucy fans that you have, and when one of Emily's songs is reacted to, these so-called Lucy Fans often gate-crash Emily's reaction because they feel threatened by Emily. And so they should be, because Emily is much more talented. Emily’s musical ability and technique is way above most music stars of today. Besides having her own home recording studio. Emily arranges all her own music, and all done from her phenomenal memory, no music sheets or lyrics. She is a multi-instrumentalist, mainly piano, various guitars, including acoustic, electric, bass, plus keyboards and synthesizers. Lucy doesn't sing fast songs, rock and roll, blues and rock chick songs, but she has a fabulous musicals and ballad selection which is where, I believe, her future lies. Take care.

Believe this or not but I only heard this song 2 days ago by Lucy. I thought it was an original. Then found the original. Which is good for Christina otherwise I wouldn’t have known about her or looked her work. I too like the original but after some serious listening just the song, I do prefer Lucy. Is that because I heard Lucy’s first - I don’t know. Just Lucy sounds a better singer, plus adds happier warm to it. Maybe why George thinks it has a country feel.

@ChrisScott0 I guess I prefer singer/songwriters. My favorite being Avi Kaplan but I also like Tom Odell, Mehro and Isak Danielson. There are others. I'm not a big country, hip hop, rap etc fan.
I like the original also but I prefer Lucy´s version she has a much richer sound and far more depth

I’m still behind the times with Celine Dion and Whitney Houston and 80’s music, although my favourite band most recent - within 20 years is ‘Vanilla Ninja’ rock band. The lead singer Lenna Kuurmaa is a great singer and wrote some of the songs, she is a fabulous talent but sadly unknown outside Europe. Lenna reminds me of Lucy in a way, but they are very different. Lucy has a better voice and is upcoming with 70 songs. I also don’t like hip hop, rap, blues, reggae, etc. Country is varied and I like the odd songs - that aren’t very countryish. 🤠 So maybe similar to you.
