If I remember it correctly, a "non-lethal" weapon called Pulsed Energy Projectile that is being developed has this kind of effect: it is a directed energy weapon which generated a laser which upon impact (what ever it hits) it creates a small explosion of plasma which can stun a target and knock them off their feet but run into some problem, not to mention that it's original name is Pulsed Impulsive Kill Weapon.
ROFL At the end when Colin smirks at Tom's escape, its the same smirk that Garth gives young Indy when he escapes the train in the movie, "Indian Jones and the Last Crusade." lol
ILM makes the best visual effects and Skywalker Sound makes the best sound effects. So how could this movie be wrong on the technical site? Besides, John Williams rocks! I love this movie xd
The nitpick for me in this scene is that no one is guarding the place. What if someone messes up the place like what they did here? Another nitpick is where are the rest of the cars. This is a car factory right? There's got to be finished cars ready to be transported to a dealer.
@hesitation24 I think the road was based on maglev tech and it makes sense that the batteries would be charged since the cars automatically drove themselves out of the factory. Why they couldn't take over the digitally controlled car is a good question.

Now, the music cue dictates that John should be finding a big snake in the car. Meanwhile, some dude with a lightsaber is making his way through the assembly line.

Great movie, great scene, but the blandest and most generic fucking soundtrack I've ever heard in my life. I know it's by John Williams, but his soundtrack for this movie made me like it about 50% less. Dear God what a bunch of cliché'd shit.
I'm mad that they did not use these weapons enough in this movie. This is the most groundbreaking sci-fi weapon since the Zorg ZF-1 and light-saber!

I love that they don’t set the gun up, you just see it being used and go “OK they have guns that make sonic booms.”
