I thought this, too. But then, I started to look out for the right dimensions in Garry's Mod
and recognized how big they really are ;) Take a look at this screenshots this:

Is the scale really ok? I mean asset scale in the Garrys Mod? I think in HL2 few Combine soldiers had these hanged on the belt in folded state. And its smaller 3/4 of your size minimally. But anyway nice work.

With monitor all looks smaller but when you compare the game even to a human then you notice its the right size
Found this just now and love the lighting and weathered surface finish mixed with the shiny metal of the casing. Really good work and it made me realize how these would be way to heavy to actually fly, but hey, video game realism. ^^

+Brotcrunsher Für sowas bekommt man keine passenden Teile. Die sind alle selber angefertigt. Das einzige Teil was 'gekauft' ist, ist das große runde Teil am Fuß - das war früher mal so ein Küchenrollenhalter ;) Auf meinem Google+ Account findest Du dazu auch Bilder (Link in der Videobeschreibung)

Es müßte doch möglich sein eine solche Drohne zu bauen. Damit sie stabil bleibt würde man zwei übereinanderliegende Rotoren benötigen. Kphlenstoffverstärkte Kunststoffrotoblätter könnten wohl einigen Schaden anrichten und die Drohne wäre mit entsprechender Software wohl auch in der Lage sich ganz schnell wieder in eine stabile Fluglage zu bringen wenn sie angegriffen hat.

das Problem ist dabei ehr Gewicht und der verfügbare Bauraum. Da ist jetzt gerade mal ein kleiner
Motor aus einem Kassettenrecorder drin verbaut und das war schon verdammt eng. Da noch einen
zweiten Motor, Akkus, Empfänger (...) unterzubringen... puh das wäre verdammt schwierig ;)
Der Schwerpunkt von dem Teil ist auch etwas unpraktisch. Sehr Kopflastig... klar kann man mit
moderner Reglungstechnik heute schon viel rausholen, aber das dürfte eine Herausforderung werden^^
Wenn Du mal Modellhubschrauber geflogen bist und mal gesehen hast, was passiert, wenn Du mit
den Rotoren ein paar Äste berührst, dann wirst die Idee mit der stabilen Fluglage nach 'Angriff' schnell
verwerfen. Die Realität sieht dann ungefähr so aus: Totalschaden.
Und der dritte Punkt: Die Stabilität. Die beiden Gehäuse sind ja nur durch die Mittelachse des Rotors
verbunden, das war gar nicht so einfach das so stabil hinzubekommen, dass der obere Teil durch den
nicht 100% gewuchteten Rotor nicht anfängt zu schwingen. Bei hohen Drehzahlen und Kräften die im
Flug wirken, dürfte das ganze noch deutlich problematischer sein.

Hm, das Ganze muß nicht wie der manhack aussehen. villeicht eher so etwas wie eine flache scheibe wo ein Teil der Rotoren übersteht.
Ah verstehe, ich dachte es geht auch darum die Form beizubehalten. Rotorblätter sind meines Wissens
ziemlich Anfällig was Stöße angeht. Man könnte die Klingen evtl. separat machen und die Rotoren
ein wenig kleiner und durch ein Gitterkorb geschützt, sodass sie mit Objekten, Wänden, Boden nicht
in Berührung kommen können.

Wenn nicht die Rotoren selbst als Klinge wirken dann vileicht ein zusätzliches Teil.
Jedenfalls wundert es mich dass so etwa snicht in irgendeiner Form bereits existiert, entweder mit Ladestation oder , aber, und das habe ich erst kürzlich gelesen, mit Radionukleidbatterien. Ein Unternehmen will Drohnen bauen die Jahrelang funktionsfähig bleiben könnten, die könnte man also so ähnlich wie die Manhacks der Combine in Gegenden aussetzen wo keiner rein soll.

Hey, no they are not sharp. I temporarily glued some razor blades on the outer edged but I removed them.
@@EBastler Wouldnt want to see one of these coming at me in real life but nothing that a good ol shotty couldn't handle. Freeman does it with his crowbar. I was playing a mod the other day and a bunch of these came at me and it was like skeet shooting.

No. Really not! That size is real. everything just looks small on the pc monitor when you play half-life 2. you have to compare manhack to a human in the game and you will notice that this is not enlarged

No, they are just made from Aluminium sheet metal^^

where you get materials ?
The raw materials? Local metal trader, scrapyard and all plastic parts are junk from a printing house (mainly used for the body). Rotor, flaps and the most other small parts are made from aluminium. The motor inside is from an old tape deck. 98% of the parts are self-made (except the ground plate - it's from a kitchen roll holder ;)

No, it's a tabletop model^^ It's way too heavy and not supposed to fly.
