I bit the bullet and got the full version, thinking I was probably wasting money. But lucky me, these planes are all my new favorite things to fly in MSFS. Much better than the wonky Hornet fight model imo. P-51 flat spin recovery at 1000ft is pretty exciting and fun.
If a plane doesn't' start and you just want to get going the old trick throughout all the flight sims is "ctrl + Shift + F4" that resets everything for takeoff. Then Ctrl + E to start.

Good video! I love Reno, so much fun! (even if I'm still bad at it :D ). Both the full package and the base package are excellent value for money! Love that they not applied the correct liveries but also took the effort to make the accurate cockpits. If you buy the full package it's something like 1,50$ per plane, so for that cost I definitely think the planes are great.
The presentation with menues, speaker, leaderboards etc is well made and I could find races quickly. So will do these a lot more!

That animated intro when the plane loads in scared the bejebus out of me, I looked away while a plane loaded and when I looked back it was hurtling across the tarmac !!! It doesn't do it when you load into a parking space so I'd already done a few flights before it caught me LOL
Excited to see myself pop up in one of your videos! I found the quick way to do it was to let the plane float up like it wants to around pylons 1 and 4 and then dive it vack down onto the straights. Thanks for the great reviews as always.

Great video. Last night i tried some of the reno air race aircraft and was a bit disapointed that all these aircraft are made for ghost only (Only ghost can get into an aircraft without an opening to get in). But beside that annoyance, the plane are a bit behaving on the ground, but once airborne, They are very fun to fly, the're fast, responding and quite a blast to fly. On landing you can apply quite a bit of break, without the taildragger trying to become a very big lawnmower. I also have a very good framerate. I will do some more trial today between my household shores. Think i will have fun.
So I have this package and I'm wondering how you got to use the airport and try out the different planes Without racing! All I'm trying to do is test out the 40 different planes from that airport and I don't see where I can do it because I've tried going to Reno steed on the map and there's no one at the grand stands and there's no airplanes there. If I go into the game itself it starts me at a race. So how do I just test the airplanes like you did in the video from that airport?

Well I know racing lines from simracing, and did a couple of pylon races back in the day in the A2A Mustangs :D Tons of fun, look forward to actually posting a race or two.
Given that you don't have to worry about braking points and rotating with the throttle and getting back on the throttle and all those sim (car) racing things, is this completely different as far as the skills that lead to winning times? What are the "secrets" to fast laps? Does staying close to the ground gain speed? Are you faster or slower when flying flat versus banking? Is there anything to adjust for an advantage, like mixture or prop pitch?
I love that this DLC is a thing, but I thought that Unlimited only having Mustangs and Jets only having L-39s was kind of lazy. I mean, if you're going to make an Unlimited class, you MUST add some Sea Furies and/or F8F Bearcats, and as far as jets go, add an L-29 Delfin and/or a de Havilland Vampire. Just my opinion, though.

AvAngel, thanks for your interesting videos, but I’d like to know if that landing a little off-centre is something that happens no matter your best effort. In my experience, I find it well near impossible to rudder myself into the right zone for a centre touchdown so much so that I wonder if the problem is designed.
Nah just in a hurry so wasn’t being that careful this video, best advice I can give is to focus on touchdown? Being perfectly on Center isn’t a huge deal anyway

Thanks for the video. I agree that it is a shame that the course doesn't seem to be there when you aren't in a race/time trial. I'd like it to be able to load into it and fly anything there, just for something to do. The main DLC looks like a lot of fun, and I'm quite tempted by the full pack even if it seems a tad overpriced (not caring personally about official licensing). I'd flown the Albatros in DCS, I think the P51 is the only aircraft that I wouldn't bother flying much out of the 4 types. Thanks again.
P51 is fun to fly! It's pretty easy to learn how to get started without help as well.

just bought the full race version . i notice you are flying close like i did to the pilons but my race apponents are flying not as close on the turns and yet they are faster than i , even after calibrating throttle for max.🤔
anothr thing I noticed is you cant text each other Even in lobby. also there isnt much information on the game , like when do you get to the next class ect ? hope they make a lot more upgrades. thanks for the video👍

This was a rollercoaster of a review for me. Speaking of the planes in the beginning had me thinking I wouldn't buy the DLC. But then watching the races had me thinking I would buy the DLC. I'm still on the fence, probably will buy the base package because I want the four planes and to do some racing, but having another 9 of each type is probably beyond necessary for me.

What would you guys say is the fastest/best and most realistic Reno stead aircraft which one would you guys recommend I probably won’t buy the pack I’ll just buy one or two aircraft I’d prefer a modern cockpit with modern avionics?
I bought the entire package, but jets are my favorite, and fun flying the pipsqueek even when not racing, but tomcat still the best jet so far. My user name is “Moto Dog 1217”, ranked 5th in fasted lap, 7th in time trial on leader board, so far anyway. Have to shave a tenth of a second for 1st fastest lap, and a couple of seconds in time trial, not easy once trying everything….

So would you say the full planes and reno pack is worth the full £49.99 well thats what it is in British pounds. Can you fly the aircraft in it from any airport in the main sim or just in the reno section only?? Great review by the way love your channel.

Are you running default settings for your rudder pedals AvAngel? Because you really shoulden't. For some reason Asobo thought it was a bright idea to put a giant input lag on the rudder axis (the "Reactivity" slider defaults to 50%), presumably to smooth things out, but this makes it neigh impossible to take off in tail draggers, you end up fishtailing all over the place, because your yaw input is on such a big delay you can't guage what's going on.
Pump that Reactivity slider up to a 100 (or maybe 90 ish if you want a little smoothing), it fixes! It really fixes!

No but really, i just noticed the problem myself, and changing the yaw delay made such a huge impact. It's advice worth sharing.

I think I heard somewhere that A2A were responsible for some these reno aircraft and it nay have been some of the P51's. I may be wrong or maybe all the mustangs aren't developed by the same developers.
I bought the base pack. Glad I did that and didn't go for the £50 one. I get that it works out at like a quid per plane or something - but that's only value if you fly them outside of the races, and I just don't think I would.
BTW (preempting your next vid.), having flown a few now, totally agree that the new free planes are mostly toilet.
Ah, heck, 10 people can be in the Top 10 but only one (me) can be exactly 359th in the World! :-)
You know what sucks is when you are first in the pack at the start of the race and someone immediately runs into the back of you and you and them get pushed to the back. They should get a time penalty for that. I hope they change that in the future.
Nice review as always even though I have literally no interest in this DLC.
The run-up isn’t new. It happens if you spawn on a runway.
Normally it just starts me there lol
@@AvAngel yeah mine has also been doing it since I bought the game. There is an option to turn it off in menu. Maybe yours was off by default
@@AvAngel yeah, it’s been a thing since launch so I thought it odd when you said it does an animated thing now. You must have switched that off at some point, as this update has reset a lot of settings, and broken more stuff of course.

The aircraft aren’t complex but the racing mechanics are solid from what I’m seeing, honestly for that it’s the experience and it feels great for that, solid expansion with room to grow
Plus technically it’s $20 with only one aircraft needed for like 20-15$ to get into it, the pack is rather good value
i think they are trying to go for e-sport status so they are more concentrated on the racing mechanics than buttons and levers. I maybe wrong. 😁

@@AvAngel Please please tell me how to fly at Reno steed edit with the 40 aircraft that I purchased for the Reno air race and just fly like you did and not race. How did you do it? Anytime I type in Reno steed it it comes up but it's an empty airport and there's no people or grand stands or airplanes or entertainment or excitement or crowds or anything it's just it's just your standard airport and I want to be able to fly like you did when there was a crowd of people in a bunch of activity below you and I can't figure out how you did this???

Have, but it's a bit fuckywucky at times :D VR is good for many games but i dislike it for this still with many manual controls and my garmin pilot on my tablet... :D
@@AvAngel For PROPER flying it's a no-go. But I love nothing better than popping down at lunch, throwing on the headset and having a thirty minute flight somewhere nice in VR to D-stress

The Reno Air racing pack is literally $500 AUD when not on sale. How this is worth $500 is beyond my comprehension. I mean thats literally four times what I paid for the actual game itself.

The AT-6's flight model seems to have been dumbed down far too much, a constant MSFS 2020 problem in my view. The trainer had a reputation of being less forgiving than the powerful front line fighters that the successful trainees would transition to.
I didn't find the A2A texan harder or less forgiving, I found it actually easier... but its not suprising.
Not a dlc for me, im going back hauling rtx graphic cards on On Air.
NONE of the aircraft have canopies that open? Really!!!! AAA Asobo and they couldn't be bothered? Saved me a lot of money, and a lot of disappointment.
