- In this video, we are going to test and gather data on each major brand trolling motor and see which one performs the BEST. Our goal for this video was to give each trolling motor a fair chance to prove its worth, by equipping identical boats with different trolling motors (Power-Pole, Garmin, Minn Kota, and Rhodan) and running them through 5 tests, some simple, some more vigorous.

Thanks for the test. I'm not sure how to test it, but it would be great to see which motor is the quietest. That is one of my top concerns when buying a TM.

Motor! Holds my 30’ cat no problem. Would also run the power pole if they offered a longer shaft.
Great video, the only thing I question is the last test. The Power Pole had a higher pulling force against a post, so it should have won our over the Garmin in the pull off. Were the batteries the same?
Excellent test.For the sake of completeness and to placate some of the whiners pls specify the exact models tested, the prop used,the battery voltage, prop shaft length, and indicate if all tests used the same batteries and they were fully charged prior to test.Motor specifications are based on a number of variables in a lab setting which can vary by company. I personally prefer to rely on the results of your test provided the additional data is supplied. As a follow up it would be nice to include Motor Guide and Lowrance.
Did the angle between the boats and the lines holding the boats to the marker pole remain constant between brands? Were the trolling motors aligned with the keels of each boat for the thrust test? Since the lines holding the boats and scale to the markers and the motor thrust vectors were not parallel, your thrust numbers are a little low. Overall, a pretty good test.

Great test, was that a Force or Kraken from Garmin?
What about the Motor Guide? Why were they not included?
Dont sleep on the Tourpro great motor.. yes some have had problems but no different than anyone else

They spent some time on this. Should have spent more time.
Garmin was the strongest, fastest. But also used the most energy.
this is pretty bad. a lot of missing info about the trolling motors and subjective when it comes to the results. not scientific.

What a useless incomplete test, where is model ? Voltage each? Rated Thrust? No motor specs at all.

All 36v man only 2 have posted thrust rates all brushless except rhodan

I’m just surprised the Rhodan held together long enough to run the test. That product is a POS
Your view is noted but subjective...just like mine. I have had three 36v Minn Kota on two different Ranger Bays. I had to have all of them rebuilt. I now have a Rhodan for the past three years. It is def holding up better. Ocean or inside. What it does not have is a Jack Rabbit go button. Prob why it was behind in the 300yd shoot out. They should have said. Hard to believe everything on the internet when sales/money/kickback is at stake.
Do you take yours offshore? Maybe the offshore pounding is what kills them
@@Jasonbe71 Yes, I fish offshore and inside. I power up with one 36v 100ah battery. Ultimately the fish don't care what we pull up in and they always get the last say. Saying that, I would like to have seen if there was a sound/decibel difference underwater between these motors...for inshore fishing. Thanks
I am not brand biased either. Rhodan trolling motor...Minn Kota Raptor anchors...Garmin electronics.
Garmin would loose on reliability there is always issues with them.

They all loose. They are so overpriced and break all the time. They are becoming like cars. Can someone just make a simple one that is reliable and doesn't cost a fortune.
Motorguide Xi5. I've owned one since 2018 and still going strong. No frills, just a solid spotlock trolling motor. Only thing I've had to replace is the remote. Foot pedal is not good, but I only use the hand remote anyway. It's not a cool kids trolling motor but it works.
Garmin is very unreliable
Minn Kota is probably most reliable
Not scientific at all. Surprised if one of these manufacturers doesn't sue you.
