  • This beautiful ancient town of Spello in Umbria, Italy was founded in the Roman times. This hill town still has surviving Roman walls in amazingly preserved detail including a stunning Roman entrance gate with it's twin towers with defensive details. Inside the town is a maze of narrow alleys, tall looming medieval buildings and cobblestone streets. It's a delight to wander through and a town not on the tourist trail, so wonderful to explore without crowds of people.

My friend & her husband did a 3 week trip in Italy last Sept. They ended up spending nearly a week in Spello & loved it. ❤
