This film was a lot of fun to watch! Not all movies have to be great "art" to be enjoyable. Good writing (funny and witty without being "belly-laugh" or slapstick), characters that we can care about (and good character roles, too), good acting, good direction, just long enough without being too long or tedious - all of these add up to a very good movie, which was well worth the time which I spent in the viewing.
Thank you very much for sharing so many of these little treasures from an era when movies truly were MOVIES. I'd sooner spend time watching these films than much of the drek that Hollywood churns out these days. (Yes, there are still good films being made, in Hollywood and elsewhere - but I would say that I can count the number of well-worth-viewing movies made each year nowadays on the fingers of one or both of my hands.)

'John Wayne's actual name was Marion.
My Grandmother went to Glendale High School when he was Captain of the football team, just as he was getting acting jobs and working up the 'John Wayne' persona based on his mentor, Yakima Canutt. I have an old GHS annual of hers wherein 'Jack Wayne' and 'John Wayne' are both signed over the printed Marion Morrison photo captions.

Yes; what a fickle young woman.
So easily swayed by "the crowd" - a young woman w/ a brain paper thin. She showed no signs of loyalty to anything or anyone.
      A very distasteful character.

2nd time watching this fine movie. Once you look under the hollywood rah rah rah, it's a wonderful story about misunderstandings and how love conquers all. And young Patricia Hammond (played by Nancy June Robinson) was such a natural. How funny that when the mother finally figures out what to say to her as a retort, the film glitches and we don't get to hear it - not even the subtitle picked it up. I read about the low-budget aspect of this studio, but I found the plot/writing/storyline all to be as fine as any other in this time period, and better than most. 7.6/10 I'd give it if anyone asked. I really enjoy the repartee with the old farmer sitting on the fence ('crow bait', lol) Thanks again PizzaFlix - you da' PizzaMan! 💖 🇨🇦

I love old movies but that is the big thing that I don't like about them. Everything gets tossed aside or in the ocean with no thought of what they are doing, the damage they are causing and this is what so many people grew up with, thinking it was just fine to do that. Now look at the mess we have in this beautiful land of ours. I get angry at parade goes when children and even adults will unwrap their candy and drop the wrapper instead of waiting until they dispose of it properly. I'm not even a tree hugger but I do believe we need to take care of what we have and this world is the only one we have.

Sorry, I haven't watched the movie yet, but from the description provided this is somewhat similar to at least 2 movies, one of which starred Jack Lemmon....and I think it was June Allyson.
They travel from one coast to another and at one point, at about the halfway mark, they run out of money.
I will watch this to see if there are any similarities.
BTW, don't get me wrong, I love these old movies as a glimpse into what the world was like for my parents and grandparents. And as a "bonus" this one has actors that I have never seen or heard of before.

When the fisticuffs with old fuddy-duddy ensue, Dave O'Brien filled the bill for me. But, I respect your opinion. Glad you like it.

A very nice print for a PRC. For more on this very interesting star see imdb.to/2CH50Dw . As usual Walter Catlett steals scenes (and movies). The music here is a bit overwrought and more suitable for a cartoon. Why begin a romantic comedy with "The Farmer in the Dell" anyway? Oh, right, Walter Catlett!!

He just wants a woman to verbally beat up on, and publicly humiliate, but he needs to make it look legit....that's why he has everyone to start petty arguments with me.....instead of being the mature one. No one wonder the stars keep viewing him as a child. Emm makes sense now.

My, my! Patricia had it right! This was the CORNIEST movie I have ever watched!!
I kept thinking, "Ok, this has got to get better!" so I kept watching it.😞😒
But it never did. In my humble opinion, it just kept getting worse & CORNIER!!
    A big to-do over a Corporal??
Since when has a Corporal ever been a hero??

Yeah, you had to rise above that. I think that was to show that he was just an average joe who stepped up when he had to did the nasty deeds required, but didn't want anyone to know. That whole sub-plot was critical to the success of the storyline and the Grande Finale.

      It is a farce.
It is intended to be 'idiotic', hence the comedy.
