      Well Art of fighting and fatal fury are separate from KOF. They have different continuity from each other so that they can continue each respective franchise if they ever decide to make a new fatal fury or art of fighting. KOF always started with Orochi and all that stuff but art of fighting and fatal fury had their respective power dynamics. King of fighters started with a demigod like being trying to resurrect itself to full power so that's fine

    The Power Scaling in the "King of Fighters" series is all over the place, it's Hard to really see it in a Canon standpoint outside of Gameplay wise, some are actual Champs but most of the times they are Jobbers,
    It's a Lore perspective I know, but even that has to also be taken into Consideration, but in all Honesty, it's always like that in other Fighting Game Lore like Street Fighter, Tekken and even Mortal Kombat.

    • @meganinten0078
      @meganinten0078 Před rokem +14

      Yup all those games follow the 'Dragon Ball formula' of power scaling.
      One arc, the main villain is the strongest until the next arc comes with an even stronger new villain.
      I don't like that formula especially if a series is very long and uses the same main cast.
      Over time it gets boring.
      One of the reasons why I left Dragon Ball series, I got bored and also makes almost no sense now in terms of power scaling.
      Mortal Kombat for example, for many years we were told the One Being was the peak until MK11 came and introduced Kronika and the Titans which are above the One Being.
      That not only created a lot of plot holes in the story but also ruined the power scaling to the point that MK makes zero sense now...
      I am sorry but I am not a fan of the writing of MK11
      That's why I think the NESTS saga handled the power scaling better that the other sagas
      How?
      Simple, using a new cast of main characters to defeat the villains and that the NESTS villains were less or same power levels as the Orochi villains
      That's why I think each new saga needs a brand new cast (heroes and villains) with no relationship with the previous saga, at all.
      But that's just my opinion

      @theolanderdilag3872 Před rokem +6

      @@meganinten0078 I would agree with this;
      There is a definite powercreep in every story, whether by media or game; literally any story in general that has continuity to the last one involves a lot of powercreep
      And yes, that's the reason why I love the NESTS saga; it is the only one that downgrades the powercreep while still being interesting, despite Igniz being able to harness kinesis from cosmos
      I wouldn't be surprised if there is one entity that introduces itself that spawns the lesser people and became a boss in the next KoF series.
      As stated, Raga is the Goddess of Truth, which is the 1st, then Gaia's Will, Orochi, down from Those From The Distant Land cult and Saiki, and then humans with different powers of different levels like Igniz, Ron, both Zeros and such, and maybe even affecting the protagonists of each game and sagas and how they got their powers (e.g. Tung Fu Rue's ways of teaching some of Fatal Fury's casts, 3 Sacred Treasures' flames and mirrors, Blanctorche light, Sakazaki family's chi energy and how it is inherited by either blood or training [Robert])

    Just a few details i like to discuss
    Magaki's projectiles cannot be reflected (the small pink ones teleport themselves , the big blue ones are near invincible and come from different trajectories ) as for the orochi team i believe each was stated to have comparable power to goenitz and accordingly the sacred treasures folks obviously got stronger in between 96 and 97 since they ultimately succeeded in sealing orochi , and i personally think mukai should be ranked a bit lower in the list (besides durability he is not that impressive) btw igniz and krizalid are the ones i want back the most in kof XV boss challenge mode or maybe you re reading into my thougths and hyping up their return hmmmm😄😄😄😁😁

    • @D-Z-K
      @D-Z-K Před rokem +1

      It's true that the strength of Awaken Orochi Team is not always praised, but i don't think they could be as strong as Goenitz, first because of the hierarchy within the Hakkeshu, Goenitz is said to be the head. Then, i don't see the Sacred Treasures Team fighting 3 Goenitz before fighting Orochi, that would be insane, and if they had become that strong, then Chizuru wouldn't have been manipulated in KOF 2003 by Botan.
      If i have to Rank the Awaken Orochi Team, i would put them at the same level as Rugal Bernstein (not Omega but 94 ver.) or maybe at the level of Krizalid, and fighting 3 Krizalid before fighting Orochi is more believable, still hard as hell, but it's possible for Kyo, Iori and Chizuru.

    About Igniz, yeah I can see why that dude thinks himself as a God, he has godly powers! The power to absorb and control the energy of the stars and cosmos? That's amazing!
    What I like about the NESTS saga bosses is that they are human, not demons, aliens, gods, etc.
    I don't think power is the only thing that makes a boss interesting or likeable.

    I think the problem with KOF lore is that it is difficult to gauge power levels because characters constantly talk trash. They very rarely EVER acknowledge the power of another person. We do know that the Sacred Treasures defeated the Heavenly Kings, Goenitz, and a weakened Orochi, but EVERY character talks trash. You look at dialogue, and Hwa Jai talks trash to SAIKI! It is too hard to scale power like that.

Like you see Saiki talk down to everyone, as he obviously acknowledges the power difference between them. [Added to the fact, that he killed Mukai, who needed 3 people to defeat him IIRC]. What i am saying is, the characters do back up their reputation, to a certain extent, using their feats.

Saiki kills Mukai, but that's weird because he surprises him similar to how Shion surprised Mukai and stabbed him even though she was way weaker (Saiki is obviously stronger though lol). For me, the top tiers are Kyo, Iori, Terry, Ryo (maybe), K', Shun'ei, and Ash (Maybe...he stole powers...he didn't exactly defeat people). One complaint might be the lack of mentioning the sub bosses, but that makes sense since comparing Chizuru and Antonov to the others might be dumb when Maki was killed by Goenitz and Antonov was defeated by Verse. Shion was definitely the canon weakest since he was the only Those from the Past that was defeated when his HP was 0 and unlike Chizuru, Antonov, or even Saishyu, he didn’t have the strength to move and was all bloody.

    According to the lore (comics), IGNIZ can be considered as 1 of the strongest human being, he had mastered every single power that appeared since kof 96 till 2001, including universal power, plus he had been collecting fighting data of any possible moves of each martial arts n develop his own unique moves, if wasn't his arrogant pride that makes him lose to K' n decided to suicide, we might been able to see him kicking future bosses's ass.
    He is insanely over powered both in story & in games. I would not wanted to fight him in real life at all.

    • @juaneitor22
      @juaneitor22 Před rokem +3

      Gaia is an adaption from Greek mythology (Gaia), in that mythology Gaia is the mother goddess, in KOF Otoma-Raga is the mother goddess so maybe the game is saying Gaia IS NOT A GODDESS maybe Gaia is just a representation/concept of Nature (everything including Otoma-Raga and Otoma's powers, it proves because otoma can be sealed and the void's force surpassed Otoma), if it is like this, Gaia is a concept that can be used to expand the multiverse even in game universes where Gods can't exist or in science fiction games, that's why there's no problem when KOF says Orochi is offspring of Otoma and Orochi is a "creation of Gaia"

Not just with the zero cannon absorption feat but also that Ron warned Saiki of it and Saiki confirms it potentially being a threat to him the moment he sees Kensou in XIII. So it's a heavy hitter. I will say, I disagree with the final placement, i'd say switch Mukai and Geonitz with eachother's places and I think that's more accurate. My thinking is that, sure, Earth is arguably a stronger element when it comes to brute strength and his petrification is terrifying, but Geonitz was able to send the KOF 96 arena in ruins pretty instantly. You gotta remember that Geonitz is able to fly, and most likely be able to send most physical projectiles back, but (in theory) parts of the entire stage towards the opponent. Of course with his general zoning, that makes the job easier compared to Mukai's unga bunga rushdown. My final theory is that since Geonitz is the "head" of the orochi clan compared to Mukai's lackey position, that makes me think that Geonitz has arguably more experience, but thats moreso just theory crafting. Otherwise, I love that video, keep it up!

    I am a big lore fan of all the games I've played, and this channel goes into the lore, so it's the best for me. Love how you mentioned how the other Heavenly Kings aren't on the list. I never saw them as being as strong as Kyo, Iori, or Terry. Not because they aren't strong, but because they lost one on one battles. Krizalid also lost, and I heard some years ago that Kyo defeated him solely (I can't confirm that, so I don't count it as canon). Zero lost to K's team also, and he had Krizalid and Ron with him. Rugal lost to Kyo, and Orochi Rugal used his power and destroyed himself. Goenitz would be higher than them, but he still lost to the Sacred Treasures. I mean, Orochi did too, but Orochi wasn't fully powered AND Orochi Iori came to help the weakened team. Verse, although he had the ability to have sealed souls inside of him, the way Terry and Andy desired to fight him by themselves gave me the notion that he wasn't as strong as he was difficult in game. And CLEARLY, this boss has shown to be potentially stronger than a fully powered Orochi. I'm really looking forward to where this is going.

      Rugal 95 (o.Rugal) lost to Kyo, Kyo from 97 was stronger than Kyo 95 obviously, Kyo 97 faced O. Chris in 1v1 and defeated him in a close fight, i don't see how O.Rugal who couldn't handle the full power of s single oroch's blood drop is stronger than the Orochi team, they are the literal heads of Orochi canonically stated by SNK. Popularity wise, ofc O. Rugal is more liked but lorewise i really don't see how.

    • @YophiGames
      @YophiGames Před rokem

      @@nonmetateams4278 Ah, a fellow lore...er eh? I appreciate this. Well, let's go back.
      Kyo did defeat Rugal, but I don't remember Kyo defeating O. Rugal by himself. Help me with that. Either way, Rugal with Orochi power can be stronger than Yashiro, Shermie, and Chris for a few reasons.
      Rugal is no slouch by himself. It's not like he would solely rely on Orochi power. He learned the Reppuken and Kaiser Wave after all. And he turned the Kaiser Wave into a regular move, so he can upgrade. Still, he lost to Goenitz easily. But Yashiro, Shermie, and Chris, especially PRE KOFXV, are not Goenitz. In 97, Yashiro, Shermie, and Chris had no idea they were even Orochi. Not only that, but they had zero fighting experience. Yashiro was an untrained brawler that, if not for the Orochi power hiding in him, would probably have no chance even against the American team. Shermie uses wrestling moves and ice skating twirls. "She can ignore weight" yeah, so can Blue Mary. This doesn't rate her high tier lorewise. Chris is a kid with no training and relies solely on speed. But smack a teenager around and he falls, so what advantage did these characters have? None.
      But when they awakened as the Heavenly Kings, things change. They began to manifest fire, lightning, and Yashiro could make the Earth shake. This obviously raises the stakes, but seriously, Benimaru can do all of Shermie's moves, Kyo soundly defeated O. Chris, and Kyo is WAY stronger now than in 97, and Kula changed an entire beach to ice in seconds, and she isn't even as strong as K'. So even WITH their awakened powers, I still don't automatically consider them above everybody else. They didn't prove that they are stronger by defeating anyone of significance. They didn't even achieve their goal of using Kyo's girlfriend to resurrect Orochi. They had to sacrifice themselves and use Chris' body instead. Then, after Kyo goes through the tournament, AND defeats the Orochi Team, he, Iori, and Chizuru STILL manages to defeat and seal Orochi himself? Yeah, Yashiro, Shermie, and Chris don't seem like the type of threat that Rugal was. They just have titles "Four Heavenly kings of Orochi." Whatever. Now they are back...with the same moves and storyline, only their regular forms are aware and on board, so their regular forms are probably stronger...but their Orochi forms still don't seem like much of a threat considering characters like K', Kula, Krohnen, Ash, Haohmaru, and Shun'ei have been added to the roster. Plus, characters like Terry, Ryo, Kyo, and Iori have gotten a lot stronger since 97 while they were just corpses. If you can give me anything to show that those three would be above Rugal, let me know. I'm always eager to learn about KOF.

      Here, kusanagi, yagami, chizuru ancestor power at least par with genjuro, haomaru at ancient basara time. Their level of power is different level than today clan. Because all three clan fight orochi at prime strength. From samurai spirit view, you need send haomaru, genjuro, nakoruru at same time to kill orochi if exist in samurai spirit world. But because samurai spirit power is different level than kof, fatal Fury and Aot, only one of character from samsho need to fight against boss based on lore.
      That why in kof world only nakoruru canon, the rest of samsho can't join because their easily kill kof, aot, fatal Fury cast. Nakoruru can join other world,
      1. she is pasifict,
      2. She weak even among samsho cast but can stab you to dead easily because setmind, smasho cast is different level of strength, anyone of samsho cast just Boss vs Boss.
      3.lore of nakoruru with magic realm and nature.

      @@YophiGames Rugal actually raise to boss level par or less with geonitz in 2002 kof.
      Why snk stat kyo as strongest one because he definitely already past kusanagi ancestors power.
      Iori bit weak because curse of orochi, but not give shit about that. Even without fire power, iori skill and brutality enough to par against enemy like orochi team.
      Chizuru definitely getting stronger and stronger by day.
      If anyone can join samsho as dlc definitely kyo or lori only. Terry can join if he not hesitate killing the opponents. Heck send any kof boss to has balance in samsho regular cast lol.

    • @YophiGames
      @YophiGames Před rokem +1

      @@ashchisalleh1454 Yeah, the Samurai Spirits franchise is stronger because they willingly kill. I always view them the same way I view the Darkstalkers being stronger than the Street Fighters of Capcom. While Akuma would decimate basically any SF character, he's not doing much against Demitri or Morrigan. Likewise, only Kyo, serious Terry, Mr. Karate, and Iori and some bosses would be able to last in the Samurai Spirits world. Terry wouldn't have much fun though because he fights for fun, and he'd have to kill to survive.
      Rugal in 2002 isn't canon. He died in 95 when he tried to use Orochi power. That's why I never rated him strong. In game, he's overpowered, but all SNK bosses are. In KOFXIV as a dlc boss, he still has overpowered moves, but nothing lorewise states that he is a problem, especially now that Kyo is so much stronger. And even in the Ash saga, Kyo still got heavily injured by O. Iori, so I wouldn't see Rugal doing anything against Kyo or Iori now.

    We do know that Orochi Leona needed to be subdued by Ralf and Clark together. We do know that Orochi Iori defeated Kyo and Shingo soundlessly, AND was able to help the Sacred Treasures defeat Orochi himself. The Heavenly kings lost to the Sacred Treasures, so I wouldn't rate them higher than Orochi Iori, but definitely higher than Shion, Orochi Leona, Adelheid, and Saisyu Kusanagi.

    AWESOME VID I been waiting for this vid in fact I think I requested it a few yrs ago lol always wanted to know but yeah this seems really accurate to me spot on!! I would say The Sacred Treasures Team could make this list given that they defeated Goenitz and sealed Orochi easily the strongest Team though individually I’d say Kyo and Iori could make it on the list but HMs. My list would be
    1. Otoma Raga(with the fact she has Verse/Re Verse as servants and those beings can disrupt space and time continuum along with her stated to being above Orochi)
    2. Verse/Re Verse(with the ability to tear time and space continuum and have souls of many dead powerful characters in her like Orochi himself, Igniz, Mizuki Rashojin, Rugal Bernstein, Ash Crimson, Krizalid having all those characters inside it and carry out Otoma Raga and it’s own will speaks volumes)
    3. Orochi( this being can wipe out entire species easily beyond planetary level likely galactic lvl at least with given time this is Gaia’s Will and the embodiment of the Apocalypse we all know what’s up)
    4. Saiki/Awakened Saiki/Dark Ash(Saiki is able to manipulate and travel through time, he is stronger in his Awakened Form and Dark Ash and also given that the tampering of his ability through both himself and Ash caused the Anomaly Phenomenon known as Verse)
    5. Igniz(probably the most powerful non entity like character this is easily up there this guy’s energy blasts, projectiles and his suit capabilities are absolutely devastating not to mention this guy defeated K’Dash’s and his entire initial team and that K’Dash came back for a round 2 with Kyo, Iori and Kula Diamond, with that being 2/3 members of The Sacred Treasure Team that are powerful in their own rite along with K’Dash being formidable himself it took all of them to defeat this monster it’s understandable why he is be all big bad in The NESTS Arc)
    6. The Sacred Treasures Team( what can I say Kyo and Iori are the posterboys to the game added Chizuru in the mix and this Team has defeated Goenitz, Team Awakened Orochi and sealed away and defeated Orochi himself given that they are descendants to the OG Sacred Treasures wielders gives them the plot armor against Orochi the reason they are under Saiki and Igniz is cause them being Sacred Treasure holders wouldn’t favor them against opponents like those but they are effective against Orochi and the Hakkesshu)
    7. Magaki/Mukai(I personally say they are probably equals yes Magaki is the most POS AI and has a typical arrogant snob personality which is why he talks down on Mukai and Mukai being a more honorable respectable individual where as one was killed by a surprise attack from a lesser being the other was killed by one of the most powerful characters in Saiki so it’s arguable, they both are top enforcers of Those From The Past)
    8. Goenitz(guy defeated and punked Rugal and elevated his superiority by using him as a guinea pig giving part of the Orochi power to see how much of it he could handle before being defeated really an experiment to him and nothing more, send a naive Kyo to the hospital with ease, killed Maki and Gaidel, cursed Leona aside from being as powerful as he is left a huge impact on the story effecting many characters)
    9. Omega Rugal( this guy survived an explosion, has Orochi powers, able to copy moves with Geese and Wolfgang Krauser’s attacks being his favorite, his array of special moves and attacks cover all ranges making him difficult in close quarters and to zone and use range attack while keeping distance)
    10. OG Zero/Clone Zero(with their ability to use dark energy and their special custom suits we can only assume they gave K’Dash and his crew as much hard time as Krizalid did)
    HM: K’Dash(defeated Krizalid, Clone Zero, OG Zero, Igniz during their rematch and Mukai he has a hell of a resume, possibly a tier under Kyo and Iori whom are possibly the most powerful Pyrokinetic users but K’Dash isn’t too far behind), Ash Crimson(likely rivals normal Saiki and is probably an equivalent Pyrokinetic user to Kyo and Iori also if we consider him post KOF11 he has both Iori and Chizuru’s Sacred Treasures I’m sure that’s why he was so confident to enter KOF13 as a solo entry), Krizalid(meant to be better than K’Dash who is also a HM and I’m sure K’Dash has the toughest fight with his superior clone in KOF 99), Shun’Ei and Isla(whom I’m certain canonically defeated Otoma Raga the most powerful character in KOF so far given their Amplified Specters being plot armor against Verse/Re Verse and Otoma Raga in the same way Sacred Treasure Team is to Orochi), Team Awakened Orochi(simply cause they are 3 of the 4 Heavenly Kings though not as strong as Goenitz and rivals for both The Sacred Treasures Team and Team Japan), Tung Fu Rue, Geese Howard, Wolfgang Krauser, Terry Bogard.

    Seria muito interessante se eles abordassem a história do Espírito do Dragão no próximo kof. Esse poder ainda é muito mistérioso, e o próprio Ron disse que era um poder de nível inimaginável. Fico pensando se o Espírito do Dragão tem algo a ver com o Orochi ou os seres do espaço.

    Is that Orochi in the thumbnail?
    I thought it was Samatoki Aohitsugi from Hypnosis Mic.

    I just realized this, but Krizalid has a lot in common with Ryumen Sukuna from Jujitsu Kaisen. I wonder if there was any inspiration from him or not.

    Agree with you, Otoma is the most powerful in the KOF universe so far if you base on the lore. But from the gameplay perspective, Igniz is the most powerful.

    I can't disagree with this list even with Raga being at the top spot given what was shown in the Orochi storyline. I do hope SNK lets her be the pinnacle because if they keep going beyond Otama=Raga then we're going to get into dragonball levels of power evolution lol. I think KoF works better when it's a bit more grounded. One thing I cannot agree on is bringing back Krizalid! Please don't! lol. It was like fighting a Dhalsim on speed, with double the hit box.
    Great vid Shoryu!
