This Pest is Eating my Fruit Tree Bark!

  • In this video we will discuss sap suckers and how they peck holes in fruit tree bark, increasing the risk of girdling your trees and introducing other pests like Cytospora.
    When you wrap your fruit trees in the fall to protect them from sun scald, the wrap should also prevent these birds from damaging your fruit tree bark.

      Yeah, I'm not sure if there are any sap suckers in that part of the world. What kinds of fruit trees pests do you deal with mostly?

      @@fruitpruningchannel where do l begin. The usuals aphids, scale,fruit fly, coddling moth but citrus leaf miner and gall wasp in citrus have been a problem

      @@nerinat8371 yeah, pest control in fruit trees is a very complicated subject. I will be posting more videos about how to control some of those pests.

    try to feed them with sugar and water. I save an apple tree. Put a container with water and sugar, they love it!

      @@alexdigaia I do agree with that philosophy. That's why I like to not spray trees unless absolutely necessary. Some fruit tree pests will damage the leaves, but not enough to kill the tree or affect the fruit. By leaving bugs you are feeding beneficials.
