About The Facts of Life: At the Eastland School in Peekskill, New York, Edna Garrett (Charlotte Rae) oversees the day-to-day lives of students who come from all walks of life. Under the care of this slightly nutty but always caring housemother is the beautiful, rich and spoiled Blair Warner (Lisa Whelchel); the witty, plump and impressionable Natalie Green (Mindy Cohn); Dorothy “Tootie” Ramsey (Kim Fields), the young and persistent campus gossip; and Joanna “Jo” Polniaczek (Nancy McKeon), a Bronx-born and bred streetwise kid whose tough exterior masks the brains and compassion she's hiding underneath. Whether it's the challenges posed by Eastland's academic and social scenes, the rise, fall and rebirth of the businesses they start and run together, or the comings and goings of new faces in school and town, including Edna's replacement (and sister) Beverly Ann Stickle (Cloris Leachman), the girls are always ready for a new challenge, and perceptive enough to learn from each new situation.

Nancy McKeon is such a terrific actress. When she's on the screen, all my attention goes to her automatically.
Nancy McKean (Jo) was always my fav when this series ran. ❤
Mine too. She's awesome
Mine Too!
Blair was always my favorite. Jo was the perfect antithesis to Blair while coincidentally both had the best character arcs and development throughout the show.
Jo’s a typical example of how Christians blame God for their actions.
I wanted to be a Nun from the time I was 4 years old. My favorite teachers at school were the Nuns. At 16 I feel in love with my best friends brother and changed my mind about becoming a Nun. I'm glad I did. My son will be 30 on Monday. He's the best thing that ever happened to me.
The look on tootie face when Jo said, she wanted to be a nun
Wow! I can't believe that is Eve Plumb is Jan from the Brady Bunch!!!
This is a very good episode and Eve Plumb really showed her acting skills in it ❤ Thank you for both parts ☺
She was completely separate from her very famous role.
Wow, I can't believe I didn't notice that was Eve Plumb.
Eve definitely had the most talent among the Brady Bunch kids.
@@nassauguy48 A lot of natural talent! I always thought so ☺
I thought the same thing.....prettier than Marcia...:)
"Is this what they mean by the right hand of God?"
lmao 😂😅
Tootsie's face 😂😂😂😅😊❤ 24:03 be like are you serious LMAOO at the end of part 1 episode got me laughing
I don’t know if this was how they first met, but Eve Plumb and Mindy Cohn are friends today. They both live in New York and have posted social media photos of hanging out with each other around the city. Eve also appeared on Mindy’s podcast for an interview chat.
I didn't know that! Thanks for the info ☺
Yeah, I saw that, too. 👌
Blair and Jo are the best. They always have the best episodes and scenes.
Ikr 😂😂😂😅😊
Sometimes I wish it was just them in scenes in certain scenes 😂😂😂😂😂😅❤ LMAOO
Lisa was preaching the Gospel here. Loud and clear.
She's always been a deeply religious person. Re-watching the show knowing that shows me what an amazing actress she is. I would never have guessed that.
My Favorite Show Growing Up 😎
37:29 That's exactly four days before I was born and eighteen years before my niece was born.😂
I think this is one of the few series that was retooled and worked. They dropped the huge cast streamlined the show and ran for 8 more seasons.🎉
They did it before with Dorothy Louden, Broadway star. She was the house mother. It is on CZcams!
@bostonblackie9503 Actually, both shows premiered August of 1979. Dorothy on CBS and The Facts of Life on NBC. However, Facts of Life had the inside track being a spin-off of the ultra popular Different Strokes at the time. Interesting fact the shows wouldn't have been similar if not for Dana Plato not wanting to leave Different Strokes and Charlotte Rae taking the leap. Making the lead focus the House Mother Mrs Garrett instead of Kimberly Drummond. A choice we can all agree was bad for Dana.
That wouldn't have worked for the Brady Bunch.
I thank God every day for my blessings. Everyday is a gift from God. He loves you! And his Son Jesus does too, He is the way, the truth and the life. John 14:6.
Everybody loves Raymond used this scenario with Debra and her sister... amazing!
That's Eve Plumb Jan from The Brady Bunch.
Nancy Mckeon auditioned for Monica on Friends. Lisa Whelchel was asked to do Pheobe but she refused the part.
why? did Lisa not agree w/ the show's material? not wholesome enough i guess?
I love 😘 this show, reminds me of my childhood
It's interesting how loudly the actors delivered their lines back in those days. Now when actors speak its so quietly
How wonderful for jo
I love this program and the house 🏠 mother plays silver on the old program that i wach every day "' car 🚗 54 where are you??.'".

I never understood why people get so upset when a good friend or family member becomes a NUN, you de figure they would be happy for their loved one!!!
No way they would broadcast something like this today. They’d be all over the rainbow themes but showing appreciation for creation and life. No way, they’d ban that.
You mean the evolution of life. Nature is incredible.
I believe that because LGBTQIA folks exist, it's important for them to see diversity.
The same folks that are angry about lgbqia folks were the same ones screaming when black folks were portrayed in commercials..
I love that more people are able to see folks like them in media ❤❤

I was reading the comments while I was still watching the first part, and didn’t even realize that Meg was played by Eve Plum. I was reading comments about Eve and right away I was like “okay, where is Jan” 🤣🤣 then the episode was over and I saw her credits lol 😆 now I see itttt

I didn't know that's Eve Plumb. The hair style threw me off. She's gorgeous.
For some reason this feels like a coming out episode
@@mikep5335 I hadn’t thought of that but now that you mention it, it does.
I think Meg even says at one point that her parents called her a lesnian when she mentioned wanting to become a nun.
It is one, Meg has discovered her true self. And Blair has to come to terms with it.
Eve plum is fine in this episode
Blair is so pretty
And especially Blair
Mrs. Garrett tells Blair that faith isn't about reason, and then Meg tells Jo that it couldn't possibly have been God's will that Blair get punched. How does Meg know? Either God is a mystery or he isn't.
Good Lord! They made wanting to be a nun like wanting to be in a cult! 🙄
Well, unless you come from a very religious family or community, it’s a very unusual concept, more so amongst teenagers.
it’s a cult!
if there is one thing I know is that one man's cult is another man's community

Blair's hair looks yellow instead of blonde here.

That eyeshadow on Jo looks ridiculous - completely out of character.
In real life what name is a believer.
Lisa whelchel
Huh?
A Christian
delusional
Blair should have pressed charges and sued Jo for assualt and battery. Jo should have a criminal record. Also Jo should have been expelled/suspended from school for assaulting another student. Bad writing is bad.
@adamp Exactly!! I never did liked the Jo character. Too negative all the time.🙄 She had no business putting her hands on Blair, no matter how much she deserved it. I'm glad Meg gave Jo the facts.
In those times those steps were not taken. People were more reasonable.
Funny Lisa thought this episode was OK to do but the virginity episode she was against and wanted no part of.
She is a fundamentalist christian so not surprising
Lisa is a Christian!
People can be angry with God, or even the very mention of him, and end up expressing it quite vehemently but that's something that a lot of Christians understand.

Blair sounds so full of hate, like she hates God, she's so unlikeable in this episode
This wasn’t a very good episode.
Once again they have no right to talk about my creator❤❤❤ cause if I ever heard that awful things about heavenly Father again I would say '' if you want to know everything about my heavenly Father? You should read his word, pray and accept him into your life
You don't own the lord .
What a strange thing to say. Everyone has the right to talk about the subject of God, whether they’re a believer or not. They don’t need your permission. It’s not about you.
I have a question , they say God forgives but I heard there's one thing he doesn't forgive and that blasphemy. Is that true ?
