You can tell by the change on his demeanor from start to finish he’s been used to foolishness from her for too long. He went from “here we go again” to “Finally, someone with some sense”. You could especially tell when she asked him about the health insurance, his body language screamed “Let me help you help me”, lmbo 😂… this Judge is a blessing, she brings people back to reality real quick.

This judge has the patience of a saint. I would have had some harsh words for this woman. Her attitude was like that of a disgruntled and spoiled teenager rather than a grown woman and parent.

I hear you. I worked for family court for 32 years and we had a judge that was no nonsense and hilarious at the same time. I loved that judge although every once and awhile I would walk to the bench and say we need a 5 min recess so we could go in chambers and tell him what he did wrong. He had a dv case and the mom refused to come to court for hearing. She was the abuser. Judge told his law court to send a message via facebook. 🤦🏽♀️ told him he couldn't do that. Eventually he listened to me and his court officer. Man I miss working with him

Can I just say this man barely had to say anything!!! He just sat there and let her hang herself. He knew that she wouldn't win and that the case was ridiculous. He was respectful and was quiet and didn't speak unless spoken too. He's one of the most well behaved litigant in these cases. I love it.

Maybe its all the years of Judge Judy drilling it into my head listening to her show but the only issue I had with the dad was his "yup" and "nope" answers. If he had answered yes and no, it would've been the utmost respect in my eyes.

I caught that too! I was like no one else gonna catch she called her baby an it.
To her , her child means money gain only with zero emotional love involved in her actions. She had shown where her priorities to her child was five years ago when she had kept abusing boyfriend and she had second child with him instead of putting her older child first. Judge had definitely done right by older child and the dad. I do fully worry about her second child in her custody with potential of abused dad or future romance partners being involved in this child’s future since Mom is definitely not all there in her head nor she had shown any emotional concerns for her older child in five years by choosing to stay with her boyfriend over her child after he had hit her child.
She should never be given her child back. She called him IT really dumb ass. You couldn’t work your way out of a paper bag!

I am so glad the courts are finding on the side of the father when it is in the best interest of the child. For far too many years, the mother always won the case no matter how bad a mother they were and how much the better off the child would be with the father.
Exactly I believe the child should go to who ever can provide the the best fir him/her and tbh most good dads would not keep the mother from the there kids sometimes it's not always about being a bad parent it could be other things like having a child friendly home or a parent lives close to there school it doesn't always have to be for bad reasons IMO anyways
Keep in mind that this is a tv show and isn't real. Read the disclaimer at the end, She isn't a real Judge but she is doing a good job with showing different situations and how they should be handled but as they are fictional situations we can't say if it will play out the same in real court.

So many things she said were red flags but her saying “I want IT back” had me over the edge not to mention when exactly was the child taken because if the baby has been with the father for 5 years and she has an 8month old that means she stayed for several years with the man who abused her son and got pregnant by him. Praying for the 8months old.

Houston would have never asked her for a dime even with him having full custody and this girl got the nerve to try to take the child back just as justification to reach into his pockets. I hope Houston gets every dime in support he and the kid is owed from this woman.

Sorry, for the down vote, but she does not seem like a figher (or that brilliant) and abusive people pick up on that. She seems like the kind of person those with those tendancies are drawn to and can take control of for a time. She has some mental and emotional maturing to do.
So, I don't think she tolerates the abuse, I think she does not have the self-esteem, mental capacity, or emotional maturity to not only avoid such people and situations, but how to get out quick enough.

@@he-mememan359: Because I have an understanding on how abuse works. It's more insidious than calling someone names or beating on them. Abuse is designed to affect one's inner person. To either break down the strong or to further weaken the vulnerable.
And to answer your question more directly...If you are a human being, you would want to have feelings for someone that someone else is chosing to take advantage of.

She needs to resolve whatever issues she had first, followed by peace talk to the father into allowing more times with the child after she's cleared, and yes, paid her child support.

Granted I know these are actors and this is a L&O program (meaning the episodes have some connection to an actual cases, but a reenactments with some liberties thrown in). She may actually have a right to get her child back.
ALL role models have flaws, fails, personal demons, etc. that people will see. So, she may be seen as a role model. A woman who was in an abusive situation for a time, but have fought to free herself from it. Parents, ALL of them, can for the most part resolve mental issues on their own OR learn how to handle it and still be their for their children. There are billions of children who have grown to be healthy, well adjusted, stable kids, even if growing up in the care of a parent with mental issues. So, she doesn't have to resolve anything, but ensure she is dealing with whatever issues in a way that reduces the risks to children.
Question...Lets take your idea that mental ill people, unless they have resolved their mental illness should not have children (and I do agree in some cases this would be right), how can we not say the same for the physically handicapped who have kids?

I had to pay my ex over $1100/mo for support and it just funded her drug habit, 9, yes..... NINE CPS cases later they finally give me full custody. She is 6months behind on her support, hasn't seen the child and called ONE TIME for 3 minutes on the phone. Point is it shouldn't have taken all those 2nd chances the court gave her to see the ongoing problem.

It really makes me upset that I can’t really do anything and makes me feel bad for always asking him for stuff when the money is probably going to my brothers on my moms side

I was scratching my head at her DEMANDS. Like... he's cared for the child for 5 years, seems pretty content with how things are. And now you want him to give the child back and PAY YOU for it. When Dad seems to never have asked for payment in the years prior. Even if she DID get the child back, he shouldn't have to pay next to anything for those 5 years he had him

I feel so awful for both of these children to have a mother who clearly doesn’t care about them. I sincerely hope the younger child is taken from her and given to someone who is capable of actually protecting and caring for them, and the older kid stays with dad.

I think Dad should not only get the child support but he should take her back to court for back child support and also to have the mother pay half of the after school extra curricular and stuff.
I think he was at peace with cutting ties with her as much as possible, he probably felt it was worth not dealing with her more.
If the situation was reversed the judge would have ordered back payments and thrown the guy in jail. She got off easy.
