That might be really cool. Then I looked up engraving something, and then noticed your fan wasn't on, because it's like dangerous a hell.

Glad to see you up an running! Just a small advice, it's very dangerous to engrave reflective surfaces you should have a "dome" when doing so to prevent the laser from bouncing off and igniting something on the work shop, it's not likely to happen, a lot of variables, but it happened to me once xD

What about multiple passes at low power to avoid over heating? Is that a viable option?

If you kept the same level of power (that broke the mirror) and taped up the area not being engraved, would that help? Like taping glass before cutting it to avoid cracking or breaking it.
