The machine you found isn't a cash register but rather an older version of a cheque printer/writer. The weight of the machine comes from the embossing discs within the upper part of it. The drawer area did have a drawer in it which held bankers' stamps, blank cheques, etc., etc.
The amount of the cheque would be entered by touching each amount of the value...the discs within would rotate to that amount and once the value was entered, the blank cheque blank would be inserted into the small space above the drawer, the user of the machine would then pull the lever forward to emboss (or press into) the blank said amount.
Great find! Clean it, restore it, and print some cheques...lol 😎🤙🤙🤙
This IS a cashregister. I've been collecting them for many years. This model could be an "Anker" or a "National", they are very similar.

It always has to be said that the removal of rubbish is so important and the heavier stuff is work out every time.....who needs to go to the gym.....
The cash register will clean up really good, so looking forward to seeing some of your finds from this and other videos, maybe in a follow up one.......and a revisit to Remon's workshop would be good !
I bought my first metal detector this week and have one established permission already......I work at a museum that was WW2 airfield so a vast area to detect.....all finds will go to the museum.......Detectors a little technical, but I'm getting there and looked up the advice on your website too 😊 .......maybe a magnet in the future?

Love the old cash register they are incredibly heavy. We had an old one in the china shop I worked in from 1978 -1988, the handle on the side was used when there was a powercut and there was also a lever underneath the back of the till to open it. A couple of doors away there was a shop that had a stunning, ornate brass Victorian one on display in their window. Great to see you guys having so much fun finding your treasures and cleaning the rubbish out of the canals.

I'm an antique dealer and I restore old forgotten axes and hatchets. Those axes will definitely clean up and some can be worth a pretty penny if they have markings. Good on ya bro!

What an amazing find with the cash register! Plus the ax's and that umbrella. You 4 def picked a great spot. I loved seeing the old buildings. I’m always curious about what you guys do with the stuff you find? Do most countries have recycling programs in exchange for money or do you have to bring them to a sort of dump? I couldn’t believe how much we found in this tiny little spot! Goes to show that anything really can be anywhere, these canals are getting cleaned out regularly but we still found these really old items 😃😃 So cool! 🤙
