Graham shows a series of photos of children's book covers which have been badly placed on a shelf or have stickers on the front which then make the titles look rude
Among the guests joining Graham tonight: Irish actor and singer Jessie Buckley, starring in Charlie Kaufman's Netflix drama I'm Thinking of Ending Things; comedian and Strictly contestant Bill Bailey, presenting his Remarkable Guide to Happiness; Oscar-winning Hollywood star Octavia Spencer, in the new film adaptation of Roald Dahl's The Witches; BBC security correspondent Frank Gardner, presenting his candid documentary Being Frank: The Frank Gardner Story; and one of our most successful and best-loved children's authors, David Walliams, whose latest book is a WWII adventure, Code Name Bananas. With music from Dermot Kennedy, who performs his current single Giants.

Or quisling. That fits very well too.

Bill Bailey ........legend.
I've seen Bill Bailey twice live, and both shows were absolutely hilarious and absolutely crammed full of awesome musical tracks. His shows are a delight from start to finish, and as far as comedians go, I think he's top shelf. Never fail to entertain, and always by making it feel like everything is just occurring to him on the spot.
Bill Bailey has always been somewhat of a hero of mine: a total goofball but with crazy, undeniable skills. Now that heâs playing the mandola, my mandolin-player heart has started to pump a little bit faster again. GO BILL!!
Did anyone else think of the Black Books episode when he gets a Duty To Do Card when they mention the didgeridoo? dutytodo
YES!
Me an aw
OMG I always thought it was called a dooty-dee-doo card just because of the noise it made. I now realise the joke has been in geostationary orbit above my head for the last decade

Musician, comedian, actor (how the heck did I forget actor??) and given how ridiculously talented he is, probably a soon-to-be dancer. Is there no end to this man's means of entertainment?

best ever concert performance - Bill bailey plaiyying the grand piano with spoons on episode of Black Books
Which song was he playing on Graham Norton? It was so incredible x
@@annalysiak2500 I think he was playing a mandola - a lower register version of a mandolin. He was playing an ''ancient'' english folk song / ''reel''. He is a multi-talented musician, Just like Paul McCartney. He is also quite good at sorting books and putting them onto shelves - hence his job at Black books.

@@Serreski, you just ask inane, pointless questions that anyone not too lazy or stupid could answer for themselves.
He's pretty good on the mandola, but what's really on display here is his phenomenal showmanship and performance skills.
See how quickly he gets the audience cheering and clapping along with him. This man was born to perform.
Yes but i think that part should not detract from the skill required to perform on an instrument so well the crowd can not stop themselves from joining in. I could have waved my arms around kinda indicating i wanted there participation while he played and i would not have received resistance because thats how good that song was played, and is written. Very few music genre can make one move so readily. Excluding people listening to music they prefer. I dont want to dance when i head new age rap. Its garbage. More synth and techno then rap. And its so boring and out of beat like jazz or is it blues. Listen to the song for Gwent in the witcher games and you will know my brothers and sisters that my word is correct as i lay my vengous upon thee. Cough cough . . . in the form of marginally anoyed comments.
Hahaha what i find most funny is the crowds attempt to keep up with him. But yeah its amazing. He realy is shredding an irish country song. Thats an important distinction to make. Its not rock and roll on a mandola.
To be honest. The crowd starts to clap on there own. He stands stamps his feet a bit bobbs his head and you feel that was on his part a gentle persuasion of his showmanship to cause the audience to clap. I dont know where you get that idea. They werent clapping soon as he stood up and started tapping the foot. I think he could not stop himself like the crowd could not. He did not indicate in the slightest thats what he wanted. Even you notice the crowd starts up all at the same time. I think they could not help themselves.
I even find myself stamping my empty can as i listen to the first person clap. It might be the clapping was not instant like i thought but i swear after the first clap 50% and the third clap 100% of every one there was clapping. In 4 seconds everyone was in sinc without any pre arranged reaction or cue. The presenter did not even know there was a song bein played. I mean i guess they had to when he walked in with a mandola but it wasnt planned. Im so wrapped up thinkin about it i havent fully heard it all yet.
Bill Bailey is amazing. Bill Bailey with an instrument is just incredible

Bill Bailey's a bloody champion
This just adds to his awesomeness. I've seen him twice live and he's not just funny but so incredibly talented in many musical ways.
Probably one of the most skilled musicians alive today. Depth of knowledge about his craft is simply mind blowing
I wish he was my uncle. I wish he was my music teacher at school. I wish he was my neighbour.
I've had dreams in which I was a cleaninglady at a childrensschool and Lee Mack was one of the parents that offered to help me clean on Parent-cleaning day.
I said; 'God, sorry, the whole forest is on the floor here, all these leafs....' And he said; 'What's wrong?'
And I said; 'I lost oversight..I can't do this.' And he said; 'Yeah, I think that sometimes too. But then I remember that I can. And you can too.'
And he shoved all the leafs together, while I put them in a bin and within a few minutes, it was all cleaned.
We chatted about WILTY and his jokes, he was surprised I remembered them so well, then a load of rabbits walked in and he disappeared into thin air and I started searching the owner of the rabbits.
Bottomline... go to bed on time, have dreams and before you know it, Bill Baily is your uncle, musicteacher ĂĄnd neighbour and will help teach you the Mandola.
Bill Bailey is dark horse and an amazing musician. So glad he won Strictly, especially after the viewers were expecting another performance like John Sergeant. Fantastic comedian too!
I love this man with all my heart.
Love the extraordinary talents of Bill Bailey, and especially how he works to protect endangered animals.

@@overgrownturnip its fairly eclectic (ie not for everyone) but he's a brilliant man. I find his solo shows to be either funny or interesting, even if he does have a song or two that im a bit "meh" about. And he's also 1/3 of what made black books so funny.
My current favourite is his recounting of a conversation with a woman named "Chantelle" about the sun and the moon, but I also really enjoyed things like his reggae downton abbey theme and his "cockney references in modern music" act from his show "is it Bill Bailey?"
