- The processional hymn for the institution of Father Phillip A. Jackson on February 26 at Trinity Church Wall Street was doubtless enjoyed by those both inside and outside of the sanctuary!
Hear the spectacular arrangement of Rowland Prichard’s glorious hymn, Hyfrydol, arranged by Trinity's former Director of Music Julian Wachner and performed by Trinity's four choirs and NOVUS NY.

One of the greatest hymns in the liturgy.
Wow! Wow! Wow! The majesty of the love of Our God in uncontained in this hymn!!
Por mas linda que sea una cosa, la gente siempre critica. Dios no es aburrido, es gozo, amor, paz, chercha, saludo, en fin dinámicoDios no es cara dura. Felicidades por este lindo momento en la liturgia.
Love divine, all loves excelling,
joy of heav'n to earth come down,
fix in us Thy humble dwelling;
all Thy faithful mercies crown!
Jesus, Thou art all compassion,
pure, unbounded love Thou art;
visit us with Thy salvation;
enter every trembling heart.
Come, Almighty to deliver;
let us all Thy life receive;
suddenly return and never,
nevermore Thy temples leave.
Thee we would be always blessing,
serve Thee as Thy hosts above;
pray, and praise Thee without ceasing,
glory in Thy perfect love.
Finish then, Thy new creation;
pure and spotless let us be;
let us see Thy great salvation
perfectly restored in Thee.
Changed from glory into glory,
till in heav'n we take our place,
till we cast our crowns before Thee,
lost in wonder, love, and praise.
This is my favorite hymn and tune. What a beatifl arrangement! And what a fabulous choir!
These beautiful hymns lift the heart on to another level altogether
Beautiful arrangement and singing! Love it.
Best rendition so far! Well done!
LOVE the mixed instrumentation. Wowzers!
As a Quaker I believe there is no holy place more than anywhere else. Everywhere is God's place.
Exactly! I see this like Lord Krishna's Vishwaroop; 'I am birth Arjun and death, I dwell in everything, I am everything and nothing. There is nothing that is not me. I stand before you as the death of all beings'. Peace be with you, travel with God. 🕊️🔹🩵🔹🕊️
Beautiful
Fabulous!
Wonderful
Amen
More people in the processional than in the pews.
Fantastic! Blessings to your new rector.
Nice!
Is it just me or this hymns does sound exactly the same with “Alleluia! Sing to Jesus”??
Same tune - "Hyfrydol"
@@swimmingtube thankyou🙌🏻
It is !

Im shocked at all the people with their phones out recording in the House of God! Have some respect people, you’re not at a ball game ! Question.. is this a special occasion, or just a normal Sunday at Trinity?
This was the processional hymn for the institution of the Rev. Phillip A. Jackson as our rector on February 26. It was quite a day!
Look at the ensemble though they don’t do this every Sunday
Nothing disrespectful
This is my favorite hymn. What a beautiful arrangement and what a wonderful choir!!
With an introduction that long, how does the choir know when to start singing? (It’s wonderful when they do sing, however!)
Watch the conductor of music's hands.....
This is a well-trained Episcopal choir. 1. The choir's scores will have shown a cue, which is the last several measures of (in this case) the trumpet parts right before the choir's entrance (start of singing).
2. The choir will have spent weeks rehearsing and rehearsing and rehearsing the cue and the choir's entrance.
3. If the choir director is also the organist, the choir will have been watching for the wave of hand or nod of head that signals the choir to begin.
4. If the conductor is someone other than the organist/choir director, the choir will have rehearsed with the conductor.
5. Choir members who aren't very good at reading music learn pretty quickly to follow the lead of some choir member near them who is a good sight reader.
Trinity Wall St. has more clergy on staff than most of the parishes in the Episcopal Church have pledging
units. I am not jealous, nor does that mean that God in all three persons is not present and
welcome there. I merely remember that the rich are different from you and me. . . .
Interesting but the masking was ridiculous
Not if you lived in New York City which was badly hit by the Coronavirus.
Far to catholic for me I'm solid c of e
Beautiful, stunning hymn ..but much better in a small parish church . Not all this ostentatious show off.
Man, I wish that this was done in celebration of Christ, not yourselves...
"Take away our love of sinning, Alpha and Omega be"
Beautiful save for the mask bullshit
Wonderful music and the choir is great but... so much narcissism and distraction among clergy and the public. Is this really a church?
What do you mean?
@@juliustilghman861 I mean exactly what I wrote. What part you do not understand?
What is this - show and tell with smells and bells at Trinity? With a full house I saw maybe FIVE people bow as the cross passed them! Shame on the rest of you!
Is it traditional for congregation members to bow? Where can I learn more about these traditions?
Pretty. Too bad they don't believe the words they're singing.
Very petty assumption in your comment.
@Sam Eash Petty that they don't believe the Bible anymore, or at least parts of it? You're in the right place then. You cave in to every evil wind that comes your way.
@@kevinvanderkooi3656 It's petty that you assume based off nothing in this video that they aren't practicing christians.
@@sameash3153 They're practicing Episcopalians. That's why they're so popular in the NYC liberal hivemind. It's not petty. Controversial maybe, but not petty.
@Kevin Vanderkooi Maybe in liberal cities it's safe to assume Episcopalians are godless, but not in the south or other conservative areas. I will agree however that the church allows too much theological diversity, and so it's quite startling how different episcopal churches even in the same diocese can be. I will not attend an Episcopal church unless its service is anglo-catholic and they affirm the articles of religion written in the book of common prayer.
The church is going through an identity crisis. Tries to be too many things at once. The liberals can't condemn the conservative teachings and vice versa. They're all stuck in the same church and we have no governmental way of doing anything about it.
Terrible arrangement, sorry.
Just a matter of taste. I loved it!
