I think half of the dogs that made mistakes is because their handler wasn't quick enough or there which caused hesitant actions
It bothers me that they term a missed or wrong direction jump a “refusal”, because you’re right, most of the time it’s handler error, and the dog isn’t refusing but simply got the wrong message. I think a more neutral term, like “off course”, would be better.
I love animals no matter win or lose they just sweet things.

@@MELODYMUNRO Totally agree, we had a kelpie rescue, best ever dog. I've worked with plenty of people with border collies, none have ever come close to our kelpie. We had got him from a rescue, they never knew what breed he was, didn't find out for a couple of years until someone came past our house with their kelpie, at once we could see our dog was a kelpie as well. How had I got to 68 years of age without knowing about kelpies!!!!

The course is too tight and the handlers cannot get around fast enough dogs have to hesitate too much they need a better course design that will enable the handlers to get around the course without causing the dog to hesitate too much.

Wow,, watching this just make my dogs looks so dumb. They're all so smart
Some dogs thrive at this, others find people buried in snow, others sniff out drugs, others warn of epileptic attacks and some find burnt koalas after bushfires, some are simply loyal companions ... like people, every dog has a special talent.

Maybe it's a stupid question but why is most of the dogs breeds always the same? almost all of them are border collies, why we don't see other dogs like for example doberman that are also super smart, rottweilers, german shepherd, this are LARGE dogs, not border collies I think collies are more medium dogs.
Is it for any specific reason? I even thought maybe it's because they are too big which makes them heavier so they are not good for this kind of competition??
I love the fact that we also see no breed dogs in these competitions =D that's so nice!
Border collies just seem to excel in this stuff. Speed, size, agility, etc. It's not just size or intelligence. Other breeds do compete but they may not make it to this level.
Also very large dogs like rottweilers or German shepherd are too heavy for all those jumps, speed and fast changes of direction, it would be dangerous for them because of their heavier bone structure. Dobermanns and other agile, smart breeds would be a good choice, but sadly most people tend to go for border collie/australian shepherd only.
The dogs you mention (dobers, rott's, and sheperds) are great dogs , but their larger frame doesnt lend itself to the tight turns etc. Plus, whilst they are all working dogs, mostly they are used as intimidation, (they certainly are the guard dog of choice, who would mess with a Rott?) so their breeding requirements don't necessarily place smarts first. Border Collies are working dogs, razor sharp, take incremental directions, and are very agile, their breeding criteria has kept that at the forefront.
Mixed breed dogs benefit from what is called hybrid vigour, whereby the best attributes of two breeds can be exploited, this can, of course, go the other way and you end up with the worst attributes... my hat is off to the non breed runners, they basically have to recognise that, hey this dog is a one of a kind, and may just do this well.
My interest here is the two Australian dogs, the kelpie, another terrific sheep superstar, maybe (arguably) not as precise as the Border, but around the stocks and yards, they rule on their own.
And then the ACD, the old box-head Heeler, made for bullying horned, semi-wild beef burgers(?) Amazing what they can achieve in the right hands...

These dogs are really good! my dog Is a working cocker spaniel and is amazing at agility but she can't compete at crafts ever because she is docked (she was before we even knew she was born so it wants our decision) :(

Frustrating how the some of the owners don’t hand the leash to the leash holder and toss it to the ground.
Maybe they do that because their dogs see the leash as a play thing ?
