I would say getting a steam deck counts as getting into pc gaming because it really is a pc, just in a handheld body, and if laptop gaming (where you basically build nothing) counts as pc gaming, then this definitely can as well haha
welk basically laptops or notebooks whatever you may call them are portable desktop transformed into flip type device so if laptops are counted as portable pc... then steam deck are portable pc as well... just removed the keyboard and mouse thingy. but for me it is not just a portable pc...it is a hybrid portable pc just like the switch as a hybrid console
Steamdeck is a PC though. You can use it as a full computer it's fun
Exactly
Wait til you get to desktop mode... Yes, the steam deck is a PC... no doubts about it. I luv my Beefy Baby.
That can’t run Netflix or Hulu. No warzone or fortnight. A lot of work around to get basic shit to work. It’s a pc but it’s a lackluster experience to say the least.
@@illogik why would you want to put bloatware like warzone on it anyway
@@jeveritt8398 I find it fun?
@@illogik I'm just joking about the absurd file size
@@illogik just dual boot to Windows and it'll work just fine
I am primarily a Switch player, but not typically a Nintendo player. I like the on-the-go versatility of the Switch. I have an Xbox Series S and PS3, 4, and 5. I still prefer the Switch to those if for no other reason, I can play on the go. I just got my Steam Deck in a couple days ago. I installed a few games I had from Steam and I am finding the games on Steam have awesome sales.
One game I was holding out for and considering was No Man's Sky on Switch because it was just released, and NMS is a fantastic game to play on the go. That said, they were too many compromises made I feel. I picked it up for less than half the price on the Steam Deck and I'm just blown away! The performance of other AAA titles on the Steam Deck are running incredibly well at 40fps/40Hz and the games look super smooth.
So, I've never been a PC gamer, but I've always loved hand held gaming. The Steam Deck is going to steal my life. It's incredible.
First of all Welcome to PC gaming, secondly, your deck looks really nice with that skin, I'm glad you shared the link for it.
Hey, thanks!
Hope you enjoy it! Used to be a PC gamer but I've mostly been playing on my steam deck since getting it, makes it so much more convenient
Then you're still a PC gamer
@@Thornskade lmao it is a PC! Just an amazing handheld version
maybe op mean desktop gaming
like he didn't game on his setup anymore but on steam deck
Literally got mine 3 hours ago. Really enjoying it so far.
Since I found out cracked games and modded games work on the steam deck, it's opened up a massive window of even more things to do with the steam deck
Yes but you have to play current games at medium and that $μ©]
@@Jucelegario lmao medium looks like ultra settings on a steam deck and I got elden ring on high settings, the switch only plays games at ultra low settings at 30fps.... it's horrendous honestly and they overcharge for games that barely work, with the steam deck I can't get 90% of video games in the entire world running on this thing, do your research on this device before you say another really dumb thing my friend. I literally beat all of spiderman remastered on the steam deck and it felt better than ps4 quality, I can't stand dumb comments like this
@@Jucelegario I mean playing games at medium settings look just fine when you're playing on a portable screen.
Be careful with Steam Sales, Greenmangaming, Humble Bundle and Fanatical, your wallet will not like you 🤣
It will save you money on games but you won't be able to stop buying lol
I just got the Steam Deck and own a Switch OLED. I didn’t buy it thinking it would be a Switch Killer, but to be a complimentary system. Why do they need to compete against each other? Enjoy both
In order for Nintendo to do better as a company it needs competition to put pressure on them or they'll lose the market share..
Loving the Steamdeck. Its a game changer. I sold my Switch, sick of the price gouging for old games.
Same I feel like Nintendo took too many sets backwards software wise from the Wii U
I plan on getting the 2nd iteration when it comes out. I hated the battery life and heating on the OG Switch (only lasted 3 years before I had to get the V2), the difference between the V1 and V2 was night and day for me. The Steam Deck seems to have the same issue. If they can fix those two things and include an OLED screen, I'm sold.
Great video your channel has been a massive inspiration to me and my CZcams journey as a creator in gaming niche 👍👍
Got mine today to complete my tech collection, and i can already see myself playing a lot of steamdeck and my laptop and switch being neglected
My switch belongs to my daughter now and my series x has been very neglected since I got my steam deck 3 months ago
Welcome to PC Gaming and Linux and yes This is a PC.
one thing most people don't know and RGT85 also mentioned it is , Steam Deck and Switch aren't competitiors , they compliment each other when you have them both. you get the best of both worlds.
i could care less about this console wars thing. Steam Deck isn't here to kill Switch. and Switch Pro(next Nintendo console) won't kill Steam Deck , the differences are night and day.
Ordered mine this morning, I also have a switch, but I think frontiers is something I'm gonna play on my steam deck. Forces surprised me with how well it ran on the switch, but frontiers seems to be a lot more intensive
Did you order yours within Europe? I just ordered mine today as well. I wonder how long it will take to be delivered.
You are in for a treat.
@@cheuwami nah u got mine in America
@@cheuwami ordered mines on tuesday, received it on saturday
@@mistarj2580 within Europe or USA as well?
This thing has replaced my gaming pc almost. The only reason I use my oc from time to time is to play rocket league on a big screen at 144hz. Other than that I only game on steam deck lol
My first wow was Fallout 4 at 60fps. Big improvement over my Xbox.
Fallout 4 doesn't use to much battery either and FSR make low resolutions look HD!! It's honestly insane what this thing can do, even cracked games run on it. Don't even get me started on emulation, it can emulate a ps3 and xbox 360
Only one day has passed and there's no switch on a table, no switch on a stool behind..) get this back right now))
I was 100% a Switch fanboy but since I got my Steam Deck in July I haven't even turned my Switch on. I'll still use my Switch to play Bayonetta 3 and Pokémon, but aside from those two games I'll just be on my Steam Deck.
Crazy to me that anyone can be passionate enough about gaming to have a CZcams channel but not have a gaming PC. To each their own tho.
I’ve been enjoying messing around with mods with my SD, I just wish it had an oled screen.
Got mine yesterday and it’s amazing and I still play my Switch OLED
Switch died as soon as I got my steam deck, I even play breath of the wild with all the dlcs and fps hack to make it run better than the switch, I got it for free since I had a gen 1 switch and modded it
@@JDabz96 The power, modding and e-word is what makes the Steam Deck the best console rn
Hi Russ! Amazing to see you playing Beamng! How is it running for you?
It’s running well!… updated the game yesterday, and made the UI all funky tho. So beware.
I love both units.
I won't stop playing my Switch or my Xbox I'm hyped to be able to play my PC games on the Go!
switch screen = 6.2" oled = 7" same as the steam deck at 7"
There is no comparison. My steam deck can play games the switch can't. My steam deck can play all switch games. It is a full-fledged portable PC.
yes it the steam deck is just a pc
Yes but the problem with the Deck is that you have to play current games at medium and that sucks.
i got 1 steam deck on 6.10.22 and i ordered another 2 days ago its coming tomorrow till 19.10.22
i have PS5 & series X & ps3s and 360s
still i use ps3 more then all.
i just got a backup steam deck so if something happens to the one i have i got a backup one .
i hate sweaty hands on steam deck
so i ordered a stand dock and silcon case and grips for analogs etc
so i will use it more on tv im used to console gaming on a console.
I feel like a finger I like about the steam deck the most I can find you play games I've always wanted to play but I didn't have the right laptop for it right that I couldn't afford an expensive laptop so I'm glad that valve I'm basically I'm glad that there was a PC equivalent 2 to this whole problem. Also it reminds me of when we have we had to PSPs like a whole bunch of people had a pspo game boy but mainly PSP and we used to like connect and play FIFA or metal gear solid portable or just games in general it was just it was a good time and now to be able to actually have this again but like on a bigger scale obviously yeah you can't be bringing this big thing into school cos it's massive right but like it's awesome it's great and yes you could also bring like you know a switch but most people nowadays have like this the LG switch on the switch OLED not a lot of people that I know have the switch lite I don't have mine anymore cos that's gone but like still it's like this which seems to me more like constant even that is but I mean I didn't feel like the game boy or the 3DS it doesn't feel like that which is weird because it basically is that it is that it just doesn't feel like it the steam deck does which is weird to say it just feels like an internal product but it does something about this team but just in general it feels like it's an internal product but jailbroken as you like because you can you go to desktop mode go on the internet and do a whole bunch of kind of stuff that basically you can only do one said consoles if you jailbroken
My pc with a friggin 3080 is literally just languishing and collecting dust as I play all my singleplayer games on the steam deck…. I can’t even sell the card now to recuperate the costs. I have to force myself to play my games on my desktop to stop it from becoming an overly expensive esports machine…
You have it wrong , get the game on the steam deck if not on the steam deck get it on the switch. I have way too many games on the switch with missing/cut content.
I also use my steam deck for school work
Feel the power of Arch Linux.
I own both, and probably more platforms than that is healthy for me. The deck made every pc gamer a handheld gamer, and every nintendo gamer a pc gamer
The background song?
The 256GB model would had been better.
I hate how people forget that people buy Nintendo systems for Nintendo games and that Nintendo isn't actually competing with other consoles or pc.
Make sure if you get a steam deck to do all your research on anything your confused about, 90% of games work , some with minor tweaking that you only have to do once, there is literally no negatives to this system no matter what anyone says
Except the screen and im not talking about the resolution that's fine for me. Its a poor ips panel.
@@Lu1giopl in the house, it's more than perfect especially with vibrantdeck, it makes that ips almost look oled with brighter colors
6:37 What is the name of the background music?
Moment of Rest (Live) - Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box
Nice vid
what frame rate did you get on beamng drive and at what settings?
Steady 60fps, normal settings
@@RussVandy thanks can’t wait mine should be coming within the next week or 2
Sold my Switch after one month having the deck because even Nintendo originals run so much better on the deck!
There’s a place for both the Switch and Steam Deck. Roll with both and you’ll take your handheld gaming to new heights.
If I can emulate switch games and slap a 60 fps mod for 30 fps locked switch games, what place does it have.
@@undyingsonars for the convinience and to play exclusives switch has the cake, i also like SD way more(considering its more open) than switch(a walled garden system full of overpriced games, works just like apple with their ecossystem) but i don't consider it a switch killer.. As thus this causes a fire to give this claim that was not meant to, even Gabe himself said that it was not a switch killer, and that both can coexist.
@@asunavk69 what convenience? What exclusivity? As I said, I can literally play any switch game on my SD. Bayonetta 3 coming out? I can get it. What convenience does the switch have over the SD? Both are turn on and play and the SD doesn't force you to pay for wifi services.
@@undyingsonars nintendo like apple has more control over their device, and yeah about the internet services and shit , that i heard about problems on that, not going to say its entirely more convenient but due to nintendos control will be easier but with costs ofc!! About exclusives now i mean more like online games i doubt you can play on SD. But the SD already covers a lot of it pretty well letting in many cases(not to mention use of physical copies) you to not need the switch, and with that i am happy to say the steam deck is good as an all around but can't replace all switch has, as its nintendo is a walled garden and makes other users from plataforms difficult to try to play their games. I am not favouring the switch, heck i hate the switch, i hate apple even more, and am happy to hear when ppl say"i like sd more than my switch" but i we gotta be real and yeah if a person is more of a hardcore switch gamer, its there were it can be difficult to benefict from the SD.
@@asunavk69 I'm sorry I fail to see the real benefit of getting the switch over the SD. Essentially you are saying that the enticing reason to get a switch is to play online games which the SD can't do. Online is trash on the switch. Every game. Splatoon 3? Trash. Smash ultimate? Giga trash. Also, having more control isn't a good thing. It doesn't make the experience better. Valve sends updates for optimizations all the time and the fact that I can play switch, SNES, PS1, ps2, 3ds, ds, etc. From a singular device and then switch it to a PC when I need to for $399 is sooo much better than a $429 switch with half the horsepower just so I can play smash ultimate online with a 17 frame delay. I know you are neutral but to me the SD is a landslide killer for the switch. Only place that needs improvement is battery life.
Sonic on switch instead of steamdeck? Lol I don't think so.
Yep, 3D sonic games play the best in 60 fps
The Steam Deck is a PC as well dude.
That's the thing...it is a PC
Just so you know, the Deck IS a handheld PC, not a console. Either way, welcome to PC gaming.
This is the switch pro
Switch or Steam Deck? Lol, Steam Deck.
In The Email Notices That Steam Sent Out To Notify U Of The Steam Dock, If You Read The Email, They Make It Clear, It's Not A Gaming System, But A Portable All In One PC. Just Saying.
And Fyi... I've Been On Switch Since Launch, N Can Say, You Can't Compare A Steam Deck To The Switch, Bc The Switch Is A Gaming Console, While The Deck Is A Portable PC, That's Like Comparing A Desktop Rig To PS5. U Just Don't Do It, Bc The Desktop Will Win Every Single Time. Period. The Only True Reason To Own Console's Are For Exclusives. 🤝
Black from me I just find it so crazy right like have you ever had that feeling all like that saying where you said are I've never going to buy digital games why would I buy digital games so-and-so physical games are better right but then when you think about that there might be a game that's only digital right and you can't get a physical right for example Scott pilgrim vs The world that was a digital only released on the PS3 and I bought it right or even games that were like basically when the PS1 classics came out on that the PS3 and a PSP right those times yeah I bought crash bandicoot right again you know what I mean and I said to me I would never buy tissue but then when I look back and also even on my steam library the mouth games that actually have no I have a like to storage for like future-proofing when I do I didn't realise that I bought a lot and it's just hilarious to think that I used to be that are out whatever by digital and when I realise how many digital things that actually bought it's kinda crazy like it really is
I don't think Ark Survival runs well on anything, to be honest. It's a pretty horribly made game. Tech wise.
I'm actually blown away it can run on the switch at all...
It is a pc sir
You traitor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣. Enjoy your steam deck. Is a great device
I have both switch oled and steam deck going to be selling my switch soon lol
"Number one competitor"
What does that even mean? Switch doesn't really have any competition. This is a PC not a console that apes the controller of the Switch. What a meaningless statement. Want to talk about sales?
